The Steiger tractors were first made on a farm west of St. Hilaire, Minnesota, by Maurice and Douglas Steiger. My farm is right across the road from the Steiger farm. Later, they sold out to some investors from Fargo, North Dakota. That factory is still in use today (intersection of I-29 and Hwy. 10) but of course is now part of CNH. I agree that the Steiger green color was the best!
Back when I was a kid I used to attend the tractor pulls at the Pennington County Fair in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The Fairboard always recruited John Steiger (father of Maurice and Douglas) and his big Steiger tractor to pull the sled back to the starting line as he had the biggest tractor in the area.
Where in the hell was this at? LOL Was this just exhibition or was this an actual class? I live in Liberty, IN which is on the OH line. That looks like Dave and Joe Singers sled from the Darke County Tractor pullers? I have a video of a John Deere 7520 pulling at the 2007 Decatur County, IN fair. They have a 20,000lb Farm Stock Open class.
Good News. On a farm by Westport SD sits a BRAND NEW GREEN Steiger tractor! I think it said 525 HD. I could not see CASE IH on it anywhere, if it was it was small. No idea if they are going to produce this again or if this is a one off custom?
its a steiger ,not a case?we have 4 of the fuckin things, and im pretty sure if we wanted red we would of bought red,but we bought steiger ,green, and thats one of them.
