Steinhart 39mm GMT 

Nice review. I just received my own Ocean Vintage Red this week. Seven days from order to delivery. Loving it. Specifically wanted a vintage-style to celebrate a decade changing event. Having owned a Sea-Dweller, four Breitlings, a pair of Seamasters, and U-N Marine Chronometer, I feel I know something about the luxury watch trap. Sold them all off when I realized how much they cost in terms of "real" wealth. I am not trying to impress any one but me with this purchase. All of the quality and solid build I enjoyed before I find in the Steinhart brand. Plus, the venerable ETA 2824 was in four of them, albeit Chronometer grade. So far, the OVR is + 3 sec/day. Awesome. Don't be on the fence. Impress yourself with this brand, enjoy common sense by investing the difference in cost into something truly worthwhile.

It’s a homage, get over it. Steinhart has some with different designs but many like the expensive Rolex homage pieces. Nothing wrong with that, especially in case of a mil sub or vintage red - who can afford those? For $500 you get Swiss movement and very high quality work. It’s Steinhart, not a knock off. If it bothers you, don’t buy. I’d argue Squale also nods to Rolex and the Rolex itself to Blancpain. Such is life. Great review - thanks.

Thanks for the review of this great watch! I have the Ocean 1 green 42 mm and love it. This GMT rocks! It's an amazing watch for the money.

I might add that after just over a month on my 8.5" wrist, the 39 is quite comfortable, and lays perfectly on the wrist. I like it better than my Rolex which I wore for over 20 years. That's the truth.

Stienhart just released the ceramic bezel for this model! Looks stunning! An homage for sure! Deliberately challenging rolex in all criteria to proof a point! I'm not not bias in anyway! As I own many rolex watches. Well done stienhart!

Hard , very hard to decide which one to buy .... ceramic or aluminum .... beauty vs durability . I guess I will buy the pepsi and if something goes wrong , I could always order the ceramic bezel from Steinhart .... by the way , the quality of your videos ( camera wise ) is mind blowing . I have the Ocean titanium 500 and love that watch, love the fact that are coming out with 39mm watches now, but personally I find 39mm a bit too small. I have a 7 1/2" wrist and a 39mm would fit just great. Have a Submariner which is 40mm but don't use it too much nor my Explorer. I guess I have gotten used to bigger watches over the years, nothing exaggerated, but 42mm is the sweet spot for me. But a beatiful watch and made me thnik about going back to trying a 39mm.

The magnifier is just the way it should be. Rolex are the ones that have that wrong and overdo it.

Steinhart is making high quality Swiss watches that people want but are too smart to pay 20 times as much for a name just to impress others.

San Martin can do a two way bezel, then Steinhart should do it as well - and then another clasp like the "R" with adjust lenght. Then I will buy one as well, but not before.

I have resently got a Steinhart ocean one 39mm, I am very satisified with the quality of the watch. I like the looks of the rolex but dont think I ever would pay that amount of money for a watch I then would be afraid to wear og bang up. I dont se it as a Rolex replica but a nice watch. At some point in history every single watch maker has been "inspired" or copyed other watches, even Rolex, Omega, Breitling etc, so what is the big deal. People that has a issue with homage watches just dont like the thought that you can wear a decent good looking watch for 1/20 the price of their Rolex, the same people usual dont have an issue with buying fake Boss underwear in Thailand.....

I hope Squale comes out with their version of a 40mm GMT in a coke bezel....ohhh baby hommage wars!

Nice watch and the argument that a Rolex holds "value" is a fallacy. If the Rolex costs you 10K and the Steinhart only 0.5K you can invest 9.5K and the return you make on that 9.5K will normally be more than the resale value of the Rolex. So, that argument failed. Further, the just noticeable differences between a Steinhart and Rolex are imao not worth the extra 9.5K. Rolex is overrated and overpriced. And Rolex stole also the design from another watch. So, not original at all. In short: only financial ignorants buy Rolex; intelligent people go for a Steinhart.

Kai Soerfjord I am still considering whether I should buy it, haven’t decided against it, so these things I mention below are just facts I consider because they are relevant facts. Exactly HOW unstable the high lug-ends and the caseback bulge will make it, I have no exact opinion about, but the tendency towards instability, which inevitably makes the wearer tighten the bracelet more than otherwise necessary in order to stabilize the watch, I think is a given FACT. I plan to buy it and put it on a dark brown leather strap if the weight of the watch makes it sag to the other side of the wrist all the time. These high lugs are a design flaw on any watch, especially if the lug-to-lug stretch is long or if the caseback-bulge is notable.

Do you guys have an issue where the gmt hand does not line up at certain times? For example when I measure +8 GMT, the gmt hand is still between 7 and 8, even though I added +8, the marker is still technically under 7???

Got my yesterday as well. Very happy with it. As an international pilot the GMT function is a great asset. Love the fit, quality and specs of this watch.

Is it really so hard to make a ceremic pepsi bezel? I only see black and blue ceremic in many watches. I wish someone would come up with a process to mass produce the ceremic pepsi bezel.

Nice review. You did mention they use the new bracelet on this model and the lume being different, but is there actually any different then the Ocean One 39mm? According to the product description they all look the same apart from the GMT function. I also asked this question to Steinhart, I got a pretty short reply that to check the product description and they said it should practically be the same watch apart from the GMT function. Maybe you can do a side by side in-depth review.

I bought one. The bezel is too tight to turn by using one hard when you are wearing it.

Really like steinhart watches and absolutely not because they have a look of Rolex ? I personally believe you get more pound for pound with steinhart than you Rolex?

I really would like to buy this watch. The one thing i can't stand is that it's a blatant copy of the Rolex. I mean, cmon, i don't want people to think it's a Rolex. Change the hands or whatever..

Buying a Steinhart and being sure you could sell it for more than you paid? I really can't take this channel seriously.

NEVER TRUST a seller that doesn’t show a PROFILE PHOTO of the watch for sale. Steinhart, on their website, do not show A PROFILE VIEW of this watch-case, but the few seconds we do see it in some of these youtube videos reveal a FLATTER LUG profile (with less down-curve), lug-ends STRANDED HIGH UP, which, combined with the larger CASEBACK BULGE, means you have to tighten the bracelet more, which means the caseback BULGE will form a DIMPLE in the skin/fat tissue of your wrist. The oyster-case is comfortable where this one cannot be. Nor do Steinhart show any part of the jubilee bracelet in anything near a half-profile, which would make it easy to spot the centre SLABS INSTEAD OF LOOPS, which even Seiko has 100% right. So the particular jubilee by Steinhard is LITTLE BETTER THAN THE STRAPCODE. EACH CENTRE LINK IS JUST A SLAB OF STEEL, NOT A RING. So guys: get it on the oyster if you want it.

Imagine if we were talking automobiles and someone released a porsche copy for far less money at the same time porsche released their new model? Is there any ingenuity or imagination at the steinhart two car garage copy center?

I still don't understand how you can carbon copy a watch, slap your name on the dial and release it at the exact same time as the watch it is copying and act like nothing happened. In any other industry this would be considered egregious - why is this any different? I know Steinhart makes a quality product but I guess the homage thing and the timing of this release just rubs me the wrong way.
