Absolutely! Yes! He is literally a hero in making true watch lovers very happy on the soul level! Even if I were wealthy I would not buy an actual Vintage Paul Newman…old unreliable dusty movement, acrylic crystals, all that dust and wear and tear etc…plus the huge liability of damage and getting lost etc
I love Gunter Steinhart - he is a such a gentleman! His exquisitely finished, honestly priced, accurate, amazing and advanced horological creations which is the Steinhart timepiece brand is a force to be reckoned with!
@@GEMINICT You say that on other sites, yet you seem to be a lone voice. Did Gunter steal your wife or bully you at school, because from what I can tell Steinhart has a reputation for quality at a reasonable price. Everybody else who criticises Steinhart watches usually criticise the fact that they are Homages, nobody but you complains about the quality.
@@iamrocketrayYou have not bothered to read up then. Steinhart watches are abysmal what makes make angry is virtually no Steinhart GMT hand is properly aligned. They Steinhart know this as an issue ... but it is cheaper to not properly assemble the watch knowing most cannot be bothered to send it back to be fixed. I have sent my Steinhart watch back to them at my cost. Let's see if they do the right thing and replace it.
@@iamrocketray Lone voice just type in Google misaligned GMT hands .....or why not check out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U6hNTycrNCA.html same issue about GMT hands - hardly glowing and certainly something to complain about. Steinhart style we build as many watches as possible we don't bother about properly setting the movements up - we dont bother to put a serial number on the watch and if someone takes the effort to complain and and the money to send back you might get it fixed. A month ago I sent my watch back to Steinhart so far no word.
@@GEMINICT you're full of poo poo...the dial on the 39 explorer ia amazing. So much so, that it's getting more rest time than my Explorer MK2. Also, the quality of their bracelets is a perhaps a half step behind rolex and Omega, who in my opinion make the best looking and solid in the business. Better than Tudor.
I have three watches from Steinhart, and counting (42mm OVM version 3, 44mm Nav.B-Uhr Dual Time, and 39mm Ocean One GMT ceramic). Love the philosophy of the brand and will continue to support them! Customer service has been top notch.
A very honest and likeable gentlemen, this video totally changed my point of view about the brand. Maybe I could put my skepticism aside, and should look into Steinhart watches as now I have learned about the man behind the brand🤤
Honestly....I bought their GMT with the ETA 2893-2 movement in 2018 and it runs at +2 secs / day ever since !! That's inside the chronometer standards..in a watch that's 500€ ! Saphire glass, GMT function, date, 300 mt water resistant with acrew-down crown...what more can you ask?
Love Steinhart...I believe those straight lugs are keeping there dimensions from having to suffer copyright infringement from other brands who create a case and copyright it. My Seiko dive watches keep me coming back for more and more watches because of the short, smooth, and rounded lugs. If Steinhart does that? WHOA...unstoppable.
I love my steinhart ocean one 39, and love it even more after I got a Rolex sub. Before I regarded the 39 as a half Rolex and could not quit enjoy it, but after, I regard is as an honest, very decent and fair priced watch, witch you dont have to baby as your Rolex
Great to see this. I bought an ocean one vintage sub (homage to the R*lex Royal Navy diver which i could never afford having seen the auction prices 😁). Its just great. The quality and appearance.
I have 2 Steinharts🎉 Both eta 2824-2 Flieger 44 mm B Type Ocean forty-four ceramic diver One is 8 sec acurate One is 12 sec Love them both. Bought them second hand. Both older than 4 or 5 years. Working perfect and i paid 500 euros for both. Unscratched and with their boxes. Although i own several vintage poljot, sturmanskie sputnik, casio, seiko 5s, and a panerai I still love the feel and looks of my steinharts🥰 Unbeatable experience for the paid price. I will for sure buy steinhart no 3 watch. Maybe a different flieger watch with a transparent back case🥰🍀 Thank you for the nice, premium, every day watches for a honest price Mr Steinhart. I hope you will always keep an eta automatic watch available around 500 euros in your catalogue, or webpage. Thank you. Keep up the good work👍
Swiss made ... great quality ... honest price ... as a new customer (who is already saving up for the next Steinhart) I can only say: Mission accomplished.
Hi Mr steinhart I love your bronze 42mm ,I have a ridiculous amount of watches all mostly high end and expensive! I love watches,my steinhart is my favourite watch, I’m your biggest fan.
Love my 42mm ocean one GMT blue/red with jubilee bracelet. Would like to know if you have plans to make 18K gold dress watch ? Thank you so much for making a Quality Swiss made watch for an honest price!!! All the best.
I have a couple of nice watches but was looking for a 39mm GMT - the ONLY one I can find that works for me is Ocean 39 GMT BLACK 103-1016 - and it's perfect. Problem is getting one - I live in Mexico. I think I'll have to order one and pick it up in the UK when I am there next. I love Hamilton too but I want 39mm GMT Auto - and these watches look great - not seen one bad review. Good video - thanks.
I'd love to see a watch movement that was stamped 'Made in Germany'. Of course, the issue is that Japan and Switzerland sell a variety of automatic movements at such great value... But still, it would be cool to have the entire watch and movement made in Germany... I really like Herr Steinhart's sentiments regarding how all people should have access to beautiful, affordable and quality watches.
@@Michael-wm9bm It doesn't need to be insanely expensive to be non-swiss. NOMOS does it for a fraction of the price, and they make all of their movements in house. Tutima is another "Mid range" Glashutte brand that have started developing their own movements, although at the moment they still use swiss movements in many of their watches.
@@Michael-wm9bmNot sure what you point is then? The discussion was whether its possible to have a good value watch that's fully made in Germany - of which there are a few brands. Not sure why you think European watches are "bad with their prices" - you get watches at every tier and you find as many affordable watches as you do expensive ones. Just because some of the most popular brands are aimed at the higher end of the market, doesn't mean you can't find ones lower down.
@@JimIBobIJones european ones and Japanese GS and some Citizens ones are very good is what I am saying but the prices are exaggerated especially how hype can hike their prices up Rolex (My fave brand) included
great watch and a great idea for an honest price, but why is the swiss made inscription on the watch, for me it would also be better if there was a much rarer inscription: Made in Germany
Many thanks to Gunter Steinhart for bringing such high quality watches into production, at "honest prices" as he so candidly says. I just took delivery of an Ocean One 39, with the green ceramic bezel, and am delighted with every aspect of this watch. The quality of construction and attention to detail is really unparalleled even at twice the price. I love this watch and will be looking to get at least one other from Steinhart. I wonder if a watch with the ETA Powermatic 80 is in the works? I would gladly pay a premium for approximately twice the power reserve of the ETA 2824 -2 used in the Ocean One series.
Curve down the lugs on the 39mm! As it is right now they look very chunky, like if they had a large plate of steel extending from the case to the lugs.
I don't think he actually makes the cases otherwise he would be able to change the lugs. However, if he did, I don't think they would be as affordable.
@@PixlPutterMan It happens a lot at this level as the cost of machinery to make cases is too high and not worth the investment. But, even if he's not making his own cases, you're right in that he must be able to get the manufacturer to re-design the lugs. It's an interesting question.
PixlPutterMan Since there are 100 micro bands at this price point you can just move on then. No one is forcing you to like the lugs. Besides, everyone’s wrist is different.
If a super high quality swiss made watch brand can sell their watches at the prices they do... what are all these other brands doing? How come they can't reach the quality to price ratio?? Honest question. I've seen watches with miyotas and seiko moments in the higher hundreds and thousands.
The big brands spend millions of dollars in advertising, marketing, events and sponsorship every year. They also have numerous boutiques in the most expensive shopping strips around the world. Add to that their sales teams. Small brands like Steinhart build their business slowly and by reputation. When you buy a Steinhart, you are paying for the watch, not the lifestyles of the corporate class.
A candy pink 42mm diver would be fantastic , solid colour , not mother of Pearl. Just like the new Rolex Oyster Perpetual in candy pink , although that’s only available up to 36mm
OMG Gunther is a real person lol, Wow its awesome to see him in real life. Gunther if you are reading this please re-issue the Marine Chronometer 44mm in Arabic I want on soooooooooooo badly.
Interesting to put a face to the name and the company. I Finally added a Steinhart to my collection, however, while the quality of the product is great, and the value for your money is outstanding, I've come to realize that their business model does not cater to modders or customers who like to tinker and/or change things on their watches. Their removal of bezel inserts for customers to purchase directly from their website has in turn morphed into an idiotic process where you have to mail your entire watch to Germany for repair/replacement, incurring additional costs and more headache than a simple repair should entail. This in and of itself is enough to completely turn me off the brand entirely. I have had a much better experience with some of their competitors of whom still value their customers after the sale. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) my first Steinhart watch will also be my last.
@@quarters-eye8922 "Steinhart Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium" please tell me you are kidding - my Titanium case is terrible in machining - it is diagonally skew ao each lug has a unique dimension and angle.
@@GEMINICT Personally, I would not buy a titanium watch. If I were you, I'd return the Watch for a refund and buy the Ocean One Premium Blue. If you are not so inclined......then simply exchange it for another one. PALLADIUM AG produce excellent quality watches for Steinhart. The Ocean One Premium Blue is a great watch - one you may wish to consider adding to your collection in the future. Regards, Steven
A very honest price for a sSteinhart true, it doesn't have to cost 10,000 for a steel watch like Rolex, so rolex ids a rip off for the people who have real money, Hahahaha I love my Steinhart GTM 2 blue/red Pepsie with jubilee bracelei ( 42mm) And Fuck Rolex
Bezel inserts of high quality watches are snap-on. Steinhart bezel inserts and pips are held with bad glue that fails quick. Also Steinhart bezels have too much play between positions. Fair price and high quality does not seem to go together after all, to my great disappointment :(
@@DJSIC82 Yes but this was supposed to be the one "defying expectations", "cutting out the middleman and selling directly", "disrupting the industry" :)
Everyone's getting angry with me. Listen, Steinhart watches are best value for money. THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY. But in respect to this interview I do not believe them to be a tool watch for life, because of where they had to save money (glue, play in bezel, ETA 2824 having known weakness that breaks if manually wound frequently...).
@@idokwatcher2062 My watch the quality ia abysmal - truely beyond anything than can be imagined. The case is not even symmetrically machine it is totally and diagonally skewed in machining process - wont even go onto the hands they simply do not align. The bracelet fell apart in about two hours of wearing it and I have yet to find springbars that fit and hold the strap in because the case is so inaccurately machined. The brand is the biggest joke in the watch making industry and history.
So this guy woke up one day and thought i will make my living copying the classic Rolex sports watches. Theft of intellectual property. No better than a replica. Get real.
I am very dissapointed by the quality of my Steinhart Titanium 500 GMT. The bracelet screws kept falling out as they seem to be steel screws going into the softerTitanium Bracelet which is not very intelligent. The case engineering is extremely crude and poor quality it has uneven width of the lugs and has a diagonal twist to its machining (the crown protectors are also unevenly finished top and bottom). The design of the watch makes for an awkward wear... this is the straight lugs .... if they bent downwards the watch would wear much better. There simply is no attention to detail it is like it was designed against a series tick boxes (lume tick) (cermaic bezel tick) (solid end links tick). In my collection of 40 watches this is the stand out lowest quality and most poorly conceived and constructed watch - no other word to describe it but "appauling". The caveat here is I did purchase it pre-owned -but it is the machining and the design choices that I question. The movement and time keeping are OK - gains about 6 seconds a day so no complains. The movement looks quite attractive - but this is the superficial .... deep down it has very flawed engineering and not worth purchasing.
I sent this example back to Steinhart to sort out the many issue (at my own cost). Steinhart admitted to re-aligning the GMT hand. The bezel has also been aligned so now the GMT function is fine. Not sure if they did anything to the case (no serial numbers) the watch is keeping good time but the Titanium case is still rubbish but at least it now holds the spring bars without these flling out. The bracelet you need to size it and then take out all the screws and use loctite to hold them in place and screw back in. Currently do not know what to think .... it was kinda sorted out - superficially it looks great (nice if un-original styling) it seems to be a good movement but the need to sort out a serious Quality Control issue.
This is the worst brand in the watch industry. STRAIGHT COPYING WITH NO REMORSE OR WHATSOEVER. Just making profit of other people's design! All I can say is YIKESSSSS!
Hmmm...snob eh!? Depends on the model. For example what if you want the 5512 sub with an Explorer dial, I've seen one on Chrono24 for $40,000, but typically trade in the low to mid 6 figures. I would never pay that for a 50-60 year old watch, that you would have to baby. But, the Ocean 39 Explorer more than scratches that it with it's beautiful dial. At $500. The watch was discontinued decades ago...it's a win win. Also, I could argue the same is true when it comes to duplicating Some of the modern models of Rolex. 1) Is Steinhart taking money from or hurting Rolex in any way, doubt it, SS models are extremely hard to get your hands on. 2)those that can afford a Rolex, will get one eventually...not even, if you're ok with paying a premium. 3)Now what if you're in a category where money is not an issue or money might be an issue, don't want to spend thousands or can't. This market is in a totally different lane than the Rolex lane. Rolex and it's fans are not being ripped off at the end of the day.
