In the eastern european school of boxing it's executed more like a skip step backwards with both feet then push forwards again coming with a 1-2. But this one looks good too.

They believe in keeping feet together for more balance and ability for more follow-up shots. In this tactic, I like preserving my ground more. You can try both and see what you like. One has you more compact. The other has you more open. Different tactics for different situations.

This is how Crawford KO'd Shaun Porter. Baited the lunging straight punch, hopped back and ever so slightly to the side, and smashed in his left hand. It was supposed to be a body punch, but Porter was ducking and met Bud's fist with his face. In fact he almost did this to Errol Spence as well! Baited Spence to reach with a southpaw cross, hopped back then snapped forward with frightening speed, throwing a cross of his own. Spence saved his own life by slipping that, but Bud's momentum carried him into orthodox at an angle, and he threw an orthodox 2 at Spence right after. Step back and throw the rear hand real snappy like, lead them into your strike! An interesting analogue is the Muay Thai teep kick into feint and long knee. Your teep usually throws both of you apart when it lands, extending the distance so you're both out of range. It'll oblige your opponent to walk back towards you - then feint it and catch him coming in with a knee to the solar plexus. It does equal body damage and emotional damage!

The correct footwork is to push off the toes of the front foot while simultaneously lifting and moving the back leg, the footwork is the single most important bit to get it right, the feet can push, pull and thrust from many different angles
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 3 года назад
I understand your comment in every essence of it but realize I have to instruct beginners differently to get the right result with least amount of explanation. For example, when you tell beginners to push off the toes of the front foot... they usually end up pushing their head to lean back (leaving hips in place) which is not what I want. What I might say instead is to tell beginners to push off their front arch or even their front heel. This allows them to move their whole body back but keeping their head more forward.
@lozza925

Usually when I slip to the right away from the left jab,I keep my left up to guard my chin and then throw the right
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 3 года назад
You definitely can. I like to lower it because sometimes their jab touches my glove and that's annoying. Also feels less slick.

This is extremely hard to execute. you need in-human like reflexes or bait the shit out of your opponent. Nobody is going to stand flat-footed and throw a jab that slow for you to counter with a completely telegraphical right hand.
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 3 года назад
Every move in boxing takes skill, whether it be a simple jab or a complicated counter. There is no "easy" move. Everything you do should have great reflexes and careful baiting of your opponent. If you find this counter really difficult for your body type or fighting style...I'll let you to decide whether it's worth it for you to learn. No hard feeling either way. You decide your limitations, not me. One thing is for sure. If you feel this move is too hard for you. It's a good chance you're doing it wrong. Most likely in the head placement or the setup. But anyway, I can't tell without actually seeing you try it. In regards to the demonstration...it is very purposely shown SLOW and TELEGRAPHING everything so you can see every little detail that I'm doing. Of course...in a real-speed match, you wouldn't see such a slow jab and likewise, my right hand would be a little faster/sharper coming out of the gate. I hope you understand this is the general "demonstration" logic. Is there anything else you need explained?
@fitfirst4468
@fitfirst4468 3 года назад
expertboxing no, the instructions are very clear. This is a very elite high-level counter technique, not even the majority of world class competitors can execute it, only a very select few, those fighters who usually can generally fight with their hands down style to pull back quicker. That being said. It would have been nice if you included a part in the video where you demonstrate this counter punch in real time action with a full speed jab aiming for you face. (With head-gaurd)
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 3 года назад
Ok...I can't speak for your personal experience but will share a bit of my own. This counter is very common and taught as one of the easier back-step counter punches. Step back and throw the right. It's done by many amateur level fighters and even little kids. Anyway, if there's this much friction for you already I think this is not the right move for you. I can try an easier one that's more realistic to you and doesn't require so much visualization. In time, I think you'll be able to see how this one works and understand it without me having to show every possible nuance. When I train people in person...I can take 1 hr to explain something super basic, but for RU-vid I record my videos to be as short and instant-help as possible.
@lozza925
@lozza925 3 года назад
A lot of people do throw lazy jabs, you don't need great reflexes at all, just the right footwork to take a quick half step back, it's very easy to bait your opponent to throw it just lean your head in his range

Idk how to put links bit if you go to Google and search up superior boxing there should be a ebay with a white boxing gloves that has a superior boxing logo and the logo has some red in it. They are better quality than they look in the pics after looking at some reviews, the stitching is not as rough as it looks
