Well considering that more than half of the police here in San Jose are from a different area (even state) I would rather feel safer if a local police officer would patrol were he/she grew up at.

I was not there either but I am not claiming something I have no knowledge about. And as I stated (which you should look up since you think a warrant is always needed), there are a few exceptions where they can enter the property. Exigent circumstances, fresh pursuit, etc.

Heard on the news that the department is planning on outfitting officers with bodycams. If that's true, the department should be commended for this preventative measure. Competent police departments and officers should get more media exposure. We only hear about the incompetent ones.

Ok I was a tac Officer at a academy down south from This dept, They should of showed youtube what’s is really like. Or maybe this dept uses pink lined fury handcuffs, it is near SF. Just poking fun at you brothers.

No. Where you? And yes, you do always need a warrant. Maybe I'll quote the 4th Amendment to the US Constitution: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

SJPD is a good force, but a few bad apples make all of them look terrible.

the guy from Egypt was my Back Ground Investigator. He's at SFPD now. That's crazy. He looks so young. He's got a baby face, but he's really cool and mellow. I like his New York accent.

There are circumstances that allow them to enter a persons home without a warrant, legally.

When private property is opened to the public (e.g. garge sale) there is no expectation of privacy and the 4th amendment doesn't apply at that point.

It wasn't a riffle, it was an Airsoft gun. Even if it was a riffle, I don't believe there is a law in California that prohibits the display of a firearm on private property. Though the garage sale was open to the public, it was held on private property and the property owners have the right to decide who is allowed on the property. The police were in the wrong, which is why they were kicked to the curb.

Cops really need to address the steroid use issue. Don't tell me it isn't happening. I've seen the symptoms way too many times. Mostly the symptoms are apparent on the officers with tattoos, shaved heads or obviously over-bulked cops. Muscles that look bloated or almost fatty are common as are love handles with a six pack. Steroid use can result in overreactions leading to fatal confrontations as swell as shrunken balls.

I already knew before watching this that it would be a hard/awesome academy....all the police haters who think cops are stupid and knuckle draggers should be made to watch this.....

Sometimes cops get out of control and it sucks that they get away with breaking laws themselves. Just like everyone there are good folks and bad folks. Eventually those cops are going to have to decide if they're a gang or if they're members of the community. My limited experiences with the SJPD have been brief and uneventful. They've been nice but then again I had nothing to hide. That said, I would appreciate it if the police became more educated and ... a bit less overweight.

I think you need to do your research before posting. You dont always need a warrant, if there were exigent circumstances, hot pursuit, etc, they dont need a warrant to enter. Besides, were you there?

This is the same Dept. that stood by as innocent men and women were beaten before them at the 2016 Trump rally. If you don't want to answer to political appointees, capable, professional law enforcement prospects should consider the SCC Sheriffs Dept. Thank me later...

That is BS. You have the right to determine who is allowed on you allow on your property. If the garage sale was held on publicly owned lands, I'd see no problem with the police being there, but it was PRIVATE property.

+SanJosePoliceDept I have a suggestion, teach first the U.S. Constitution; that should be the most important requirement before they begin their training. If they can not understand the U.S. Constitution, they have no business being a civilian police officer. They should know the U.S. Constitution, front to back, back to front, upside down, right side up, etc. It should be mandatory that they carry a copy of the U.S. Constitution at all times, a small pocket version that fits nicely in their shirt or pants pocket and get tested on it every two years.
