Why did pat bev have to say at the end that he judges Perk by the fact that Perk's answer changed while his own didn't change? That just shows that Perk is adjusting his opinion based on analysis of what's happening in real life. On the other hand, Pat Bev sticking to his view that Harden should get supermax no matter what just simply shows his bias and disregard for objectivity, proving Perk's point that he's not keeping the same energy when he's talking about players he doesn't like (CP3) vs players who are his boys (Harden). How can you justify giving somebody a super max when he has proven time and time again that he can’t win you a chip? The point that is being overlooked looked regarding the "Super Max Contract" is what it is based on i.e. past performance, present performance or future performance. James Hardens present performance shows a substantial decrease from his past performance in Houston. Therefore, if you base his eligibility for a Super Max Contract on his present performance, and you project the rate of decline, he is not worth a Super Max contract from Philadelphia. The problem is the high salary in long duration contracts that become arduous to the team as the players' performance and impact on the game has diminished from when they were in their prime. In international football or as Americans would refer to it as soccer, teams such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Barcelona FC, Real Madrid and others were not offering multi-year contracts to players after the age of 30. The teams would instead institute a rolling one year contract. There are exceptions to the rule with players such as Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The NBA has a problem with the "Super Max" contract concept, as the player's performance will not necessarily correlate to their respective salary in the later years of the contract.
