Then backs down when you actually step to him (Glenn Robinson, Kenyon Martin, Michelle Beadle, the Lions Den Boxing Community (aka the LDBC), the people of Oakland, CA, etc.) 😂
The Sultin Of Smack You’re dead wrong. SAS said that the Lakers were a team that KD may consider. And KD did consider the Lakers because of the large market. He never said KD was going to the Lakers.
@Jason Tidd in what way or form did lebron james came into this topic? Why tf would you post hate comment on a completely different topic? Did lebron assault u?
his threatening of kevin durant was unessesary but he did have a point.......KD did lie and at the same time called stephen-a a liar so i can understand why he would be pissed
I can't blame him for his reaction. Someone called him a liar and as a journalist, if someone is calling out your credibility then that's a hugh problem in your career as a journalist. The only thing I can say is that his response towards the end could've been a lil better.
I'm personally sick and tired of Stephen A Smith fake tough guy acting A__. Acting like his selfserving opinions really matter and pretty soon he's going talk that shit to the wrong person.
+Ray Charles If you think he built any credibility in that rant whatsoever, you need to learn the meanings of "straw man", "ad hominem", and "cherry picking" fallacies. Stephen Smith just showed his ass on TV, yet again, with no way of covering it up when the time comes that he'll need to do so. He hedged so badly that a child could pick out the logical fallacies in his rant. It's truly embarrassing.
I see everyone hating on SAS but nobody talks about the fact that KD is lying saying that he doesn't talk to SAS when he has. His mother was on the show but because is KD you are going after SAS doesn't make any sense to me. I'll be pissed off if someone question my credibility so I don't where everyone has his head right now this is not about KD playing is about KD talking and in that matter he has no business against one of the best.
A little after the moment when Smith said, "Now, let's get down to the nitty gritty (4:23)," I swear I thought he was about to say, "Kevin, what's good?" LOLOLOL.
somebody should remind stephen A smith that he's the dude that goes to work and sits down and gossips for a living about what other men do when they get up and go to work
eric george ... and somehow that argument applies to me, and not to him? and another thing, it makes more sense for me to make comments on what he does because I AM DOING THE SAME THING. I'm talking. that's what he does. What he doesn't do, and shouldn't believe he has the end-all-be-all opinion on, is playing basketball. He's never played a game of professional basketball, but he talks about it like he invented the fucking game. And then he makes benign, rhetorical threats to one of the most talented and hardest working players of today. I like him most of the time, but it's times like these that remind me he takes himself and his role in sports way too seriously.
Biggie Smalls ... and that means everything he says is inherently the right thing to say? the dudes entertaining. theatrical. hence this video. doesn't mean what he says is the gospel, just fun to hear. all in all, still just talk. Durant's the one putting the ball in the basket, for Stephen A to act like he's got the superior opinion on everything basketball, it's pretentious as fuck and misguided. but it feeds his ratings, so
As much as I don't care for Stephen A. Smith anymore, he is spot on with this. KD basically called him a liar and attacked his credibility. Of course SAS was gonna respond and he had 3 days to prepare. These athletes today ARE sensitive when it comes to the media (sometimes rightfully so) and anytime someone says something deemed negative, they get butt hurt. They actually like KD and he went after them ruthlessly. Sometimes they need a reality check. This response was a reality check
Sergio Flores he said LA was his first choice? everyone knows OKC is his first choice but SAS point is.... if OKC is truly his first choice, why hasnt he signed an extension yet? If he were to leave OKC, You and i both know... itll be either LA or WSH. I dont see the problem here.
+662chillin I get their sensitivity. When people who have no idea about your craft criticize your game it can get annoying especially when it happens 24/7. Basketball is their life and people are criticizing their life constantly
Cmack34 mill Please. What does Stephen A. have to gain but disrespect for going after KD of all athletes? Btw it's Stephen A. that's being a fucking crybaby and this isn't the first time. How many public apologies has he had to make because he was bitching too much about something? I'll let you know that he certainly hasn't made his last public apology for some stupid gripe he had against somebody and he should be banned from the air cause not only is his behavior obnoxious, he's just annoying to listen to and not enjoyable to watch.
@Joshua Jung think KD doesnt enjoy all that cash from sponsorships and endorsements from the industry? who do you think plays a big part of that industry KD loves reaping those benefits from? Why did he go to GS if loyalty, respect and hard work is important? Everyone knows their place, KD just 'trynna be gangsta'. I love them athletes pouring their hearts out but if no one pays them, think they not gonna switch to baseball, bowling or e-games?
@Joshua Jung *flying out post-season recruiting. Doesn't matter, he did leave. I like GS and welcome KD (and now he in Brooklyn), but you cant thrash talk someone accusing them of lying while you lie. Stephen A & co are part of NBA history, having watched Iverson, Kobe, Jordan, Bird etc. Each of these players has dissed the media but with facts.
@Joshua Jung Chuck Westbrook? Didn't he go to the playoffs 6 times. Went to the Western conference finals two times and went to the finals one time with Chuck Westbrook 🤷🤦😂
Zubeir , he always had KDs back saying he’s one of the best in the league, he just had to put the young brotha in his place for runnin his mouth unnecessarily is all
Everybody has to realize that Stephen A. Smith is that dude when it comes to his job. Kevin Durant should've known better to not say anything, whose to say somebody that's a friend of Kevin Durant didn't tell Stephen A. Smith this information. All the professional athletes are friends with him and y'all notice Kevin Durant didn't respond with anything because somebody had to have said something, important information like that doesn't just come out of nowhere. Friends and family will say anything for a couple minutes of fame.
Kevin Durant needs to learn to talk to the media. People only know know him for his MVP speech, but he's really a fool when he logs onto Twitter or responds to negative press. And Stephen A was 100% right calling him out. KD, much like a lot of other professional athletes, are being prima donnas. You as an athlete have a job, AND SO DO the members of the media. It's ignorant to call out a man's line of work, when you were already proven wrong about Scott Brooks. Tone it down on the tough guy image, and worry about being the best player on your own team. Because right now, it's questionable with Westbrook playing like he is.
He started off nice and strong in defending his reputation, but he shoulda stopped while ahead. It went downhill once he started saying "u don't want me to come down there" and bragging about being the black man with the big mouth.
7:03 is where this really starts. Look at him bouncing while talking. That swag. The "hood coming out". Classic SAS right there. But why cut the vid short? The "threat" was the best part of this rant.
A few months ago this clown compared Tom Brady to a murderer (Aaron Hernandez). The guy is a disgrace to journalism and it's sad he is on such a well watched show. Saying that society is in the gutter so the public gets what it deserves.
Stephen A Smith is taking this personally, but I think Kevin Durant was simply defending his status in OKC, because he didn't want to have problems with the organization and fans. Rumors like that can effect his own relationship with the team.
Wait. So I would be sensitive if I responded to someone saying something unfounded about me on t.v. that would force me to have to answer questions from ppl I evidently don't like yet they're not sensitive for basically threatening me?
How many reporters have broken stories like you had, bigmouth Stephen A Smith? How about that guy from Yahoo, you know him Adrian Wojranowski right? He most likely has broken more stories in his relatively shorter time in Yahoo than you did over your (long) 20 year career! Boom!
I've seen 4 minutes of the vid, and this Steven guy still hasn't, really, said that "No, Kevin is going to the Lakers." ....he's just adressing past KD quotes.
And people wonder why players either hate, don’t trust and only speak to the media when they have to and all the muppets thinking they know what players are going?
@nicholas Frechen... In no way, shape, or form was Stephen A Smith "threatening" Kevin Durant. He was challenging Durant on his statement issued to the media.
He's tries so hard, and his acting is sooooo bad. Look at that dumb head swing - is that suppose to be more convincing when you do that shit? Why was he allowed to go on this rant? Didn't know this happened until Bill Simmons brought it up on his show.
+Jay Chapel Bill Simmons just played a ten second clip from the same rant on his Any Given Wednesday show on HBO. Simmons was taking aim at ESPN and Stephen A for their claim of integrity while allowing such behavior on their channel. I just wasn't aware of the rant or that Stephen A basically threatened Durant.
+Fire Squad he wasn't right. This was last off season. Get your facts straight. And, yea, that was a threat. Telling someone "you don't want to make an enemy out of me" with that demeanor and tone is a threat.
+CheyTacProductions Beef is when Stephen calls out his own race/sees KD in the streets and gets punched in the face/beef is when KD dunks on Steph's career and ESPN execs be like: "Steph, Outta here!"/Call it like it is but beef is butthurting/Stephen threatens a DC dude who's used to murking/Not that he a killer, but beef is just beef/forget television, KD is bout them streets/Camera.Lights.Action, thats what Steph in it for/and that's when you notice it ain't beef anymore more...Stephen is all drama queen
I lost it when he looked into the camera and threatened Durant. This dude says a lot on a tv but lets hear the little man call Durant a liar to his face.
listen folks pay attention please... Stephen A Smith was saying KD can't stop him from saying what's on his mind, basically he telling him if u don't like what i say deal with... KD thinks that he can stop him from doing job n it ain't gonna happen
Durant takes too many L's, first Lil B, then Westbrook surpassing him, now Stephen A Smith talking about his brother and mom. Damn KD you're finished homie.
