How can you be in the NBA and not have the confidence to take a shot? I tried to emulate my jumper after Jordan when I was 12 years old. I didn't have the strength to hit anything further than a midrange since I was used to a one motion shot, but it set me up to have a consistent jumper because I had years to hone it. Honestly by HS you should have put in work to figure out your jumper. If you don't then that's on you, ignoring your flaws is just dumb.

He just don’t have work ethic like other people cause he was gifted with physical when he was young. It’s like how T-Mac reference Ben Simmon as younger version of him that didn’t really had love (understanding of game) of basketball because the game came to them so easily. TMac said he never played seriously when he was young cause it was too easy and by the time he wanted to be the best his body gave out on him. He reached out to Ben Simmon that he’s willing to coach him off season but Ben flatout ignored.

Simmons is a formidable athlete but is immature, arrogant and he can't shoot and doesn't seem to care about it. Giannis, in comparison, couldn't shoot but keeps improving through hard work and shows how to carry yourself as a pro.

We need to relax on this Ben Simmons can't shoot story now..we all know he can't and won't magically learn how to shoot during the playoffs...The man knows he's weakness,so he definitely won't start attempting shots in the playoffs that he hasn't been making all season...This story needs to continue once the 76ers are out of the playoffs cause at this point it's about focusing on the strengths he has to better his team and focus on his shot during the offseason

The problem is he had a full offseason after the celtics neutralized him because he can't shoot. Yet he comes back as the exact same player with slightly improved free throw shooting. The good to great teams exploit weaknesses it will happen again and every time until he gets a jump shot

He plays within his skill set. If he were forcing up 3's and missing all of them there would be folks complaining about that. Regarding Carter's comments, their offense is built around Embiid and I'm inclined to believe that their coach puts an emphasis on getting into the half court set so they utilize Embiid dominance over the majority of the bigs in the league. He does push the ball but he can't push it if you're getting the ball out of the basket after a made shot, taking it out of bounds and the defense is already set. I expect him to work on his outside shot out of necessity.

Him not shooting holds everyone else on his team back. It allows the defense to collapse further away from the perimeter making the post much more crowded and thus harder to score in. If he could even shoot 35% from beyond 10 ft and 25% from three, that would be enough to start to spread the floor and embiid would average over 30ppg easily imo with all that extra space inside

Simmons does not have to develop a shot. What he has to add the "2007 tony parker" arsenal to his game; floaters, tear drops, running hooks, scoop, up&unders you couple that with a solid effective post-up game(go visit hakeem in the off-season) he will be alright. What make Simmons unique is that he's ambidextrous. He's able to switch hads while driving left or right.

Ben's ambidexterity is limited and can be (and is) rendered less efficient by smart opponents who study his ingrained habits. You will NEVER see him take a jumper from any range with his RIGHT hand. You will NEVER see him take a hook with his LEFT hand. His tendency is to dunk with the right hand. A prepared long and quick opponent knows these habits and renders Ben less efficient - he still can get his numbers but the FG% drops and the turnovers rise. Ambidexterity is most useful when the opponent has no idea what hand you will use in any situation. When you add the lack of outside shooting attempts to the whole limited ambidexterity package then it gives a smart opponent an advantage in a seven-game series.

Same like Lonzo. At UCLA he was getting rebounds then running in transition and killing teams with long passes and transition baskets. In the NBA he faces better defenses and they get back in transition so now in a halfcourt situation you notice his lack of shooting.

Russ takes stupid shots when opponents get in his head that take his team completely out of rhythm . If Russ had that understanding of flow and actual willingness to improve his shot it'd be different. Ben is a third year player (Yeah ik he's only played 2 seasons but don't act like he didn't practice with pros his draft year) He hasn't improved his jumper a bit since college. Opponents can close in on the paint with Ben handling the ball because they know he won't even ATTEMPT shots to take them off balance. Russ can't shoot either but the difference is HE TAKES THOSE SHOTS because miss or make, the opponent has to respect your willingness to take that shot which changes the defense and can create wide open lanes for Russ or other players to cut through. Ofc that's not always the case because like I said it's easy to get in russ's head. It's exactly why he hasn't gotten out of the first rounds since KD. If Ben at least attempted shots when his man leaves him open thatd stretch the defense which would make his job as a pass first point guard so much easier . I hope you enjoyed the analysis

Ben needs to develop his jumper - this isn’t new. However, the criticism towards him is a little unfair when it is HIS COACH that let him play PG and direct him to run half court sets and not shoot. The media should levy some criticism towards the coach to develop and direct him to shoot the midrange if open. AND he needs to hit the free throws - which he nailed in Game 3.

That's when Chris said to be the most dominant at his own game. Shaq was most dominant and so was lebron. Simmons doesnt even attempt to shoot it.

In order to have a jumpshot you have to have something to work with and Simmons doesn't have the necessary skill set to make that a possibility.

I with Jackson on this one.. if he took just 6 shoots a night in however many games he plays in out of 82 that’s a lot of practice jumpers to help get you ready for the off season and what you need to do work on and area best to take your shoots that’s why they have all the tapes to rewatch how to fix it I know they all see there are times he should shoot but don’t and in the end it’s gonna cost them they so called process

Because unfortunately russ and ben ineffiencys (cant spell) effect their team almost directly if russ shoots 5/20 that hurts there team if ben cant shoot then it effects not just his game but emiid and harris forces them to change how they play or be doubled in the paint

This is a sad truth because coming up the court, Ben Simmons looks like the next Magic Johnson but in the half court he seems lost. Lonzo Ball is the same way.

Lonzo can actually make 3s and he really worked on his shot, which caused his shot percentage to go up. He is better on the break then he is in the halfcourt but that's where the comparison stops

Dennis Rodman could shot but the Bulls didn't care about that as long as he was defending and getting rebounds. Of course Simmons should develop a shot and he needs to spend a good part of the off season developing one. But now is not the time to expect it to happen.

Alot of people say if you cant shoot u cant be an all star player what About BEN Wallace. He was great at what he does . No one criticized him. !!!!!!!!! Give Ben Simmons a chance he will eventually develop some mid range. I know he will like Ben Wallace at the late stage of his career!!!!!!!!!!!!
