Oh boy. First, look at your stepmania logs (and search for errors to see if it's exactly what I'm thinking it is.) Or enable error logging in the debug menu (hold F3 to open debug menu) and tell me what it says (or send a snapshot of the error message) Also, what theme are you using (and what version of stepmania)? If you're curious on what I think it might be: the file does judgment font trickery during the 'get 10 greats' section, and then sets it to the ITG2 judgment font. It only does this on expert and slumpage. I decided to have the player start on the ITG2 font at the start of those difficulties for consistency sake. Different themes have different ways of doing a player's judgment. The one you use might do something different that what I have set up can't handle.

By the way, I've just updated the file so that expert and slumpage work fine under 5.0's default theme (Not the same as 5.1's default theme). If you use that theme, please re-download the file. Let me know if you have other problems (or if you use a different theme and this problem still happens after re-downloading).

Did you try playing this with only 1 player? Because that's what breaks it for me. Mawaru 9 is gonna get fixed when it gets the HD fixes it really needs, so for now, you should play it with 2 players. For now, I'm gonna go update the archive to fix this mawaru for everyone else.

I am not him, but if I may propose a theory. There are some people who's computers can't run openITG for one reason or another. Many mod makers only make the mods in openITG, so mrthatkid ports then to sm5 so that everyone can enjoy them equally. Of course, I may be wrong, since I don't know the actual reason.

I don't mind at all! Strap in, though, because this'll be a very large comment that explains the short answer. Short answer: A combination of boredom, curiosity and wanting to make things more available (I use both OpenITG and SM5, but some can't run both) is what got me to start converting simfiles. Right now, I do them because It's fun and gives me something to do. (Also, I won't have to switch between two games to run one gimmick simfile if I can convert it.) Long explanation: Around that time, I was getting more active with Stepmania things (reporting bugs, talking to people on IRC), so I grabbed 5.1 (compiled a build of the 5.1 branch) to try it out. Turns out that 5.1 (and 5.0, but not with how I have 5.0 set up) is infinitely easier to record than OpenITG (Unless you don't want sound in the videos), so I ended up using 5.1 as my main Stepmania setup. This whole thing originally started as seeing what it took to get a simfile that uses manual lua mods to work in Stepmania 5.1 (Though I found out that it works in both 5.0 and 5.1) The simfile in question was "The Dive Game", a chart SteveReen had made for D.O.W.N.S. 4. I was curious about how it was done and I had also seen other people do this (YungDaVinci with their WinDEU Hates You conversions and Jose with his conversion of Puuro's Mellann chart). I also wanted to see what I can do with my new computer that was recently built, so I recorded me playing the "The Dive Game" chart (after converting it) and uploaded it. Then I wanted to try converting more complex files, and I started doing some on my own as a little distraction (I planned on my first real conversion release being Complete Domination, but it took a lot longer...) A good amount of time later, Taro was (trying) to stream UKSRT8, and Ky_Dash was in the chat. He had recently released his FTW simfile. I wanted to port FTW over to SM5 (I decided that would be my first release), so I got his permission and thus started my journey to convert these cool files. (It probably helps that I enjoy doing programming things.) Goober LP is also correct in that a good amount of these older files (and some more recent ones) don't have SM5 versions and the authors of said files are also probably too busy to convert their older files (or they might not know how). It's possible that they would never be converted otherwise... That and these files were most likely only meant for 4:3 screens (ITG is usually run in a 4:3 aspect ratio.) while SM5 is usually in a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is probably what most people use these days. (These older files sometimes look weird in 16:9, so I have to fix that too.) So, I decided to take on my own challenge of doing these simfile conversions because I felt like no one else would, and it gave me something to do. ("If no one else will do it, I may as well do it myself.") I found converting simfiles to be fun, but I wasn't sure on what else to convert, so I allow requests (I only ask that it doesn't do command noteskin madness because I don't know how to convert it (input handling is fine, though) and that the file hasn't been converted before (unless they think I can do a better job) ). In case you wonder why I use 5.1: I felt like showing off Stepmania 5.1, because it's the newest one (I think it has potential with its' new custom mod system) and I don't think many people record 5.1. (though I try to make these compatible with both 5.0 and 5.1, which is why I never really say 5.0 conversion or 5.1 unless it only works in that version). It opens new avenues, it's being actively worked on, gets new compatibility features that can help get older gimmick files to look right (some got backported to 5.0), and gets bugfixes that 5.0 might not have. @Goober LP - Ah, I see. I've never had a issue running OpenITG on Windows 7 - besides it being locked at 480p, 60FPS (Which I found a way to bypass that; the game looks glorious at 1080p, 144FPS...) Props to MrThatKid4 then. Porting these are not easy, I bet. From what I've seen and hear, the creators for these kinds of things say they don't use SM5 for the sheer fact that OpenITG is on most Arcade machines... This allows them to play their songs on the machines when they see one. On top of that, certain things were removed from SM5 that they used a lot.

Some videos I've seen of others trying to convert their songs to SM5, he got a bit mad. Maybe they did not get permission first...? Who knows. Yep, I do try my best to get permission from the people who made the original simfiles. (I credit them and link to the original file regardless, though). About the video you linked: What they seem to have done is straight up run the course file without having converted things like the backgrounds and other things (it's done through default.xml files, which need to be converted to default.lua files in SM5). I think they just took an OpenITG file as it was and just stuck it into SM5 without doing anything to fix the resulting problems. I'm not surprised that it doesn't really work at all. If they tried to prove something, they didn't do a good job at it... Maybe that would explain the responses there. Anyway, I'm glad you like these! ...And yeah, I do tend to write walls of text...sorry about that...

@@MrThatKid4 Sorry for not specifying in my first comment, it actually does work (somewhat) with 2 players but there are other issues such as missing graphics and in one minigame the text doesn't appear (probably i didn't install the font) and im using v5.0.12

Text not being visible is likely a sign that you didn't install the font. If missing, a warning about the font not being there would show up in the game logs (and console output) the first time that font is attempted to be loaded. In regards to the "missing graphics", there are two spots where it's intentional. 1. Judgment graphics become missing graphic icon during the get ## greats section on higher difficulty charts. 2. The bouncing missing graphic icons in the tewi section (SURVIVE!!)

Sounds like you didn't install the fonts. It uses eurostile outline fonts (default fonts don't have outlines, resulting in a white on white problem.)

Pretty sure they're supposed to be in the Fonts folder of either the theme you're using or _fallback's Fonts folder. Well, try checking the game's logs, as they'll output errors and warnings like fonts missing. And just to make sure, do the other minigames in the file work as intended?

I just got it fixed. I accidentally put the fonts in the Fonts folder that's in the install location and not the theme's Fonts folder. Also, the other minigames do work.

Ah. Well, at least you got it working. Good to know everything else works as well!

What theme and difficulty did you use? This file does judgment trickery on difficulties higher than Hard. I've only got it working on the default theme and Simply Love because I only have those themes. So, along with what I asked, find errors that show up in your stepmania logs (that relate to this song), and tell me as well.

i used the normal StepMania 5 Dance Theme and the Challenge difficult but lets see if it work with hard ..

Looking at it, I only tested this on 5.1's default and Simply Love on 5.0. It actually does break on 5.0's default. I'll try to fix that, then!

Alright, I've fixed it to work in 5.0's default theme as well! Please re-download the file. (I assumed 5.1's default did the same thing as 5.0's, which was wrong) Let me know if you have other problems!

My guess is that the minigame is still playing for a bit after the X happens. Can you make it happen in the oITG version Taro originally made? If so, then it's likely part of the original file, and not a mistake on my end.

What theme are you using? This file does judgment font changes, and it might be broken on the theme you use.

Uh, the thing is: I just tried the older versions of SL (even the first release). They didn't break at all. What's in your error logs?

I don't really have an error log since the game didn't crash at all. It just played on with the green image forever obscuring the game field. May just be a computer compatibility problem, I am using Mac right now.

The game's logs also log lua errors that don't result in game crashing. Check your game logs to see if any lua errors related to this file happen.

So, the archive contains three main folders: Songs, Courses, and Fonts. In the Songs folder, there should be a folder called "Mawaru Collection". This folder goes into your Stepmania 5 install's Songs folder. (or you can go into your game's appdata folder and place it into the Songs folder there. Go here for an approximation of where that could be: github.com/stepmania/stepmania/wiki/User-Data-Locations ) The same ideas apply to the Courses folder in the archive as well. Also, the Readme in the archive details some extra things, like where the fonts go and other possible issues. As a side note, if you use the recent Simply Love, I think you can mainly ignore grabbing fonts from this archive. Good luck!
