In the summer of 1969 this song was released. At that time I was in a US Army helicopter unit, stationed at the Nha Trang Airbase. Whenever our Hueys were up in the air, if a good song came on our AFVN (Armed Forces Viet Nam) radio, the pilot would "plug" us into the sound and we'd all sing to the song, especially this one. It was the wildest time of my life, flying at tree top level so that the bad guys couldn't shoot us (we'd fly past them so fast they could not aim and shoot). We flew in the Central Highlands region from the coastal regions by the South China Sea, all the way up to the border of Cambodia and Laos. We partied hard and sang loud with all that our hearts could bare. We never knew if we had another day of life, so we celebrated the one day we were living. Now I'm 73, and I'm looking back and wondering how I survived that war. Thanks to musical groups like Steppenwolf for entertaining us back then and giving us hope for the chance to see another day...!!
God bless you- thanks for sharing your experiences- so very grateful you made it home. I wish you would have been welcomed home with the open arms you deserved. You are a special group of soldiers in my book.
my son has autism and is not really aware of who Peter Fonda was. As I am watching the PBS Newshour, he insists on playing this from RU-vid. What a little joy.
Easy Rider might have been a good move, but I still say Fonda was an a$$hole, acting all tough on his twitter account and bullying Barron Trump... just to get a rise out of President Trump.
@@deanzamboni7286 trump is a bully....those who bully cry the loudest when its returned in kind. fuck trump, his kid is probably going to grow up as fucked up as trump is.
My brother said when I die, I want this song played at my funeral. He died May 10th doing what he loved- riding his Harley. Two day celebration of life at the first annual Ronstock and I don't think anyone played this song. RIP brother.
@George Washington I'm sorry about your friend. I wish you could have too- amazing how a long ride can clear your head. I haven't been on the back of a bike for a long time, but I sure remember the feeling. My brother actually gave me my last ride. I hope that your friend doesn't linger... just too hard on everyone. I lost my 15 year old nephew in June and he was in a coma for a couple of weeks before being declared brain dead. It was hard to see, still hard to see his parents trying to regain a new way of life without him. With that said, we sure have to enjoy the good stuff in this life.
Great timeless song! Freedom to do what you want, travel where you want to go& speak your mind& thoughts even if it's not popular. These freedoms must never be taken away.😎
I was at a concert i was about 11. Some people were standing in the chairs to see. I was as well so a guard walks by me and tells me to sit down. Beside me was a hells angel and his wife was doing the same thing. He gives the guard a dirty look and the guard just passes by him. So he smiles at me and tells me to get back up in the chair. I will always remember that

I'd listened to that song with 7 years cause of my older sister. I'd listened to it through my childhood and youth. As adult I'd listened to it at many partys. And wtf - now I am almost 60 years old and still listen to it and it is the same great song since decades ✊✊✊

Easy Rider movie set the course of my life... Riding motorcycles.. My father took me to see it when I was 12 at Narooma theatre N.S.W. AUSTRALIA... the one and only picture we ever saw together R. I. P. Dad... Rock On...
+Pamela Corona I always knew they would end. That's why I tried like hell to make every minute count. Sha lalalalala live for today...and don't worry 'bout tomorrow heeeyy
So cool Pamela. If I could go back to one decade it would be the 60s. I was born in '96 so I'm a youngster of the 90s and 2000s, but I would have loved to live in this time.... It seemed so free and everything was happening, an exciting time
This song and Easy Rider go hang in hand PERFECTLY!!!! It's perfect for going on THE NUMBER 1 GREATEST cross country motorcycle road trip with your best friend!!!!🇺🇸🏍️😎👍
Even now in my mid sixties everytime it comes on the radio I haveto crank it and my youth comes back ahhh what wild music us boomers grew up with - Here's to the music of the 60s 🍺🍺 stay young my friends 😉
I was born in 1955. I remember cruising the mountain backroads in my cousins volkswagon with the windows down blasting this song on an 8 track player. good times.
Wish I could've grown up back then when this song came out but atleast I'm glad to say I'm one of the ones to still listen to this song.. all I'm saying is yall born to be wild stay wild 🤟
@Rakan M History, Facts and Real Life are not a statistic. Go out from your room, take a trip on a country with a majority of muslims and go around the streets while wearing a cross necklace, let's see how much they will tollerate you. Do you like the idea of "Statitics" as a misuration tool of the reality? Good, you must know that (for example) in the majority of muslim countries OWNING A BIBLE is ILLEGAL and HIGH PROSECUTABLE.
Get your motor runnin' Head out on the highway Looking for adventure In whatever comes our way Yeah, darlin' Gonna make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once And explode into space I like smoke and lightnin' Heavy metal thunder Racing in the wind And the feeling that I'm under Yeah, darlin' Gonna make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once And explode into space Like a true nature child We were born Born to be wild We can climbed so high I never wanna die Born to be wild Born to be wild Get your motor runnin' Head out on the highway Looking for adventure In whatever comes our way Yeah, darlin' Gonna make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once And explode into space Like a true nature child We were born Born to be wild We can climbed so high I never wanna die Born to be wild Born to be wild
We have a friend named Joe who died May 11, 2921. He asked our band to play this at his memorial and we our going to do our best to play it tonight. He was a veteran who like to ride his Harley. RIP Joe. We miss you already
Thank you Mr. Fonda for showing the world the beauty of the West. May you forever be racing with the wind, and never gonna die, born to be wild, born to cruise on forever and ever.
@Joe Blow No shit. Other generations behind me? Unless you plan on dying early dickhead? The years will come to your sorry ass too. Your generation is the pathetic future of this country. Gene pool is getting a bit thin. :-)
The quintessential counterculture biker anthem immortalized in Easy Rider. I’ll always imagine Wyatt (Peter Fonda) and Billy (Dennis Hopper) riding their choppers into eternity after meeting a tragic end in the classic film -finally free from the intolerance and violence they encountered as depicted in the movie. RIP to both free spirits.
One of the greatest (60's) rock songs -ever-!!! Have to love it! Have to be WILD about it!❤🤘 (As wild as my pristine country😍!) Greetings from Windhoek, Namibia! 🇳🇦
I remember seeing this movie as a kid on ABC on a Thursday, the next day I was cutting the forks on my schwinn bicycle and extending the forks and adding a longer sissy bar on the banana seat, that movie changed my life, now(at 58) I'm a bicycle mechanic and still build and ride chopper style bicycles.😊
I was 10yr old and my brother played the Steppenwolf album on and old turn table & I played it more the him. He was 16yr. I know good rock & roll when I here it at that age. Fun day's back then not like today.
These where real Men. Other than todays GEN-Z-Softies. I love it and ride my HD with proud. I‘m 60, but that means, that I‘m just 20 with 40 years of experience. Thank you Peter, Dennis and Jack for helping me to explore the world as an hitch-hiker and Harley-Fan
@अल्ली X Because of Trump I know, but I see many fervently people oppose him and hate him to the core and want him out, he got booed in a stadium and that speaks volume about their detestation of him.
This song just happened to be playing when I went to the Harley dealership to get a gift for my son. 30 minutes, $800+ later....I'm taking the HD rider course in January. 16 year old me is happy once again, thanks to this classic song!
you right masterpiece took two bike trips and road full time for a wild love the fill of freedom, wind and yes the bad rain& snow. on the last trip had a cat name peaches who took to the bike like a duck to water . But then cats have there own way she live many years and had many good times. Did not like the canoeing trip was mad for 3 weeks
It was extremely profitable...$60M gross on a budget of less than $400,000. (Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper dealt with the writing and directing themselves).
