4:01 Finally, a man who will actually stand up to his woman and call her on being wrong. The manliest in the long history of men who've worn nightgowns.
@@Howyaduing I wanted Screech to stand up to Lisa like this on Saved by the Bell, because he also did a lot of things for her which she never appreciated.
Tresean Cann I think a lot of women would like a man like Steve Urkel. He was not “weak”, there were instances when he stood up and defended Laura when she was being bullied!
@@RaiderRSupastar The Winslow Family & Steve Showed Morals. I'm Sure Eddie & Laura Were Both Virgins Until Marriage, Steve Too. On An Episode When Steve Was Talking To Mother/Grandma Winslow, He Said That He Was Waiting Until Marriage To Have Sex.
Now I’m picturing Chris Hemsworth saying: “Do not fret, little nerd man! I shall support you against this dangerous, common foe known as the Entitled Female!”
Steve was right I had to learn the hard way nobody wants a pushover you have to stand your ground I rather be alone than get treated like dirt self respect is everything
Steve did that again in the episode where he and Laura went to their high school prom together. Steve and Laura's dates both cancelled at the last minute, then Laura suggested Steve transform into Stefan (they were not separate at the time), but Steve flat out refused and said he'd rather go to prom by himself than as Stefan. Laura caved and went to prom with him anyway, and Steve was rewarded with his first real kiss from Laura (Laura had previously kissed him passionately when he was Stefan and when he accidentally spilled woo woo juice on himself). In one fan fiction episode where Steve and Laura were on their honeymoon, Laura admitted she and Steve would have started dating after their high school prom had Laura not been involved with Curtis at the time.
Damn right. And she deserved every bit of what Steve said. After everything he did for her that night and she didn't even have the decency to thank him. Yes he was annoying and somewhat a stalker at times (😂😂😂) but regardless everything he does is out of the kindness of his heart especially when it came to her.
Dr. Dhoom You don't call camping on someone's roof until she gives in to date you stalking? What do you call that then? What about when he interfered with Ted and Laura's date? I think Ted may have hooked Steve up with Myra for revenge, because Ted probably knew Myra had those stalkerish tendencies too LOL

I love the scene when Steve stood up to Laura at 4:02. It is a great life lesson for nice guys not allowing pretty girls to run over them no matter how beautiful they are. You go brother Steve, lol. God Bless.
4:02 is easily one of my favorite Family Matters moments lol for years Urkel let Laura walk all over him, it was cool to see him finally stand up for himself
Season 5, episode 2, "It Didn't Happen One Night" Laura had overslept and missed her bus to a cheerleading competition, and Urkel was the only one who could drive her there, but Laura was not pleasant company. After Laura accidentally broke Urkel's car and they had to share a motel room, Laura tried to make Urkel sleep in the bathtub, since there was only one bed, but Urkel finally had it with Laura.
He really loved her especially the Christmas episode when Eddie threw away Laura's ragdoll and she was heartbroken so after Steve Found out he went out his way to go down to the dumps and got the the doll which she was really happy and grateful towards him
@@sancm8898 In a fan fiction story (not sure if it's still online or not), Laura actually admitted she knew Steve was the one on that Christmas day when he retrieved her childhood doll from the dump, when Steve asked her that after they became engaged to be married.
@@allencollins5666 it seems like if Steve had high pressured Laura to have sex with him, the way Myra high pressured Steve, the fans would have though that was much out of line for Steve, and would have said that Laura had every right to resist him. But it’s notable that throughout the series, Steve never did that with Laura.
I had no idea that Myra passed away in real life. How tragic!!! Her and Steve sure made a great couple, but the last episode of Family Matters,Steve's persistence finally pays off and won Laura's heart forever,so I'm assuming that they got married then lived happily ever after.
If I remember right, Michelle Thomas (Myra) was ill during the show's final season. Myra & Steve were supposed to wind up together, but when it became clear she was sick & might not be able to play the character much longer (even though she had also taken on a new role on The Young & The Restless), the decision was made to turn her into a female version of Steve, but a little farther off the beam. That way, Steve would "see Myra for who she really was" & rekindle his hope for winning over Laura at last. It must be said, though, that Steve was nowhere near as crazy & underhanded as Myra (even though one could say she basically gave him a taste of his own medicine in the obsession department). Then again, times have changed & now, the line between winning someone over & not taking no for an answer might be a little blurrier than it used to be.
@@ericandy88 I don't know if Steve was always intended to end up with Laura or not, but the producers could have broken up Steve and Myra amicably, instead of erasing Myra's development and making her highly disliked before brushing her aside. That really made the Steve + Laura pairing look forced.
@@ericandy88 No, it's amazing and beautiful how Steve knew all along since kindergarten that he and Laura were meant to be together. Not just Laura.Steve stood up to ted, that controlling guy Jimmy who was Laura's date at their junior prom , Laura's brother Eddie too and a robber who was holding Steve,Laura and a few other people hostage at the bank with a gun and literally kicked his ass a few times before Carl and the rest of the police.Jaleel White don't get enough recognition for his role throughout the series
She was born in 1968 so she would be about 51. If Myra was so beautiful. ❤️❤️ If she was alive today, she would of still looked the same. Black don’t crack.
The scene of Steve telling Laura off reminds me of A Different World when Dwayne told off Whitley and in response she hugged him from behind "I love it when you take charge daddy."
noangel1087 but the difference is that Dwayne was telling her like it is, like a man. You know, when they were engaged while here, Steve was finally standing up for himself after all of the rejections, and torments like this one, from Laura in particular. This is a breathtaking scene, and a huge character development from Urkel.
They had a similar one on The Parkers when Nikki got fed up with the Professor being to demanding and she put him in his place saying I will be your wife and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let you treat me like a doormat. But thank you and please goes along the way
@@sancm8898 The Professor was a real jerk in that episode...Its funny how all four characters had a similar ending though we didnt get to see Steve and Laura's wedding
I always loved the hotel scene when steve told laura off!!!! That ungrateful hussy!!!~.Man he check the heck outta her! I bet low key that's when the love started to develop on end...we like stuff like that sometimes if we deserve it~LOLOL...and the scene with him and myra doing the polka and eating/kissing string cheese was everything! I was yelling, "yea laura, if you can date stefan and steve then he can date YOU AND MYRA!!!!" Dang...I am starting to realize I didn't really like the character laura back then~Lol...Steve shoulda married Myra, yea she is she coo coo for coco puffs but she is loyal damn it and loves him for him!
Raquel C. Gary I know that's what you wanted but remember Steve was a shoe in so Myra was not really intended and neither was she the main characters. Also not a man as your ways you should marry him because guess what he will get bored with you and look for something else after all he himself already he doesn't want actually see, sleep, eat, kiss etc himself for the rest of his life so Laura was perfect
8:10 She ain't lying about that! Michelle Thomas (R.I.P.) was gorgeous, especially in this scene when she had her hair down and didn't have that artificial creepy smirk on her face.
If it wasn't for a bunch of college frat boys, Urkel would not have been the real star of the show. He originally was going to be in like two or so episodes, but when they finished filming the first episode he was in, a large group of frat boys in the live audience stood up and yelled, "UR-KEL! UR-KEL! UR-KEL!" Everyone saw that the people loved this character so much they decided to make him a regular and before you know it, it's like the show had a secret title of 'The Steve Urkel Show'.
It's funny how Laura is called out on her flaws even though she acknowledges and apologizes for them but all Myra's faults are justified, what's worse she doesnt even have the conscience to know she is at the wrong
It's so amazing and beautiful how Steve knew all along that he and Laura belonged together from kindergarten. He told Laura in season 2 he would wait forever for her. It took Laura 15 years to finally realize Steve is the one for her after getting the double proposal and no man would ever love and adore Laura more than Steve. You clearly see it after watching the entire series that Steve's heart always belonged to Laura (one of the millions of things he did for Laura to show and express his love was spend 16 hours in the city dump searching for her doll). And they do end up getting married, the wedding is just not shown onscreen. And if I were Laura, there's no question I'd be with Steve. I typed up such a beautiful and romantic and passionate alteration (with dialog) to Family Matters where Steve Urkel and Laura get together long before they really do on the actual show. Myra and Stefan never enter the picture (I don't hate the person Michelle Thomas but she was made to look desperate since Steve's heart always belonged to Laura and Steve had a condition for dating him which he would be leaving her). Laura has to know if she feels anything from kissing him but she can't tell him beforehand and it has to be the perfect moment and a real kiss, not like from the play so she decides to kiss Steve in the kitchen in episode Just One Date of season 4 after he proclaims his love for her while looking at her so passionately intense that only he can do (and he looks at her like this many times and in season 9 in Grill Of My Dreams, Mr. Tanaka aka Pat Morita, tells Steve it's fitting to do his cooking debut in front of the woman his heart has chosen and Steve asks how he knew it was Laura and Mr. Tanaka says it's all in Steve's eyes, his eyes says it all) and after Steve says about being his forever, Laura gives him the most passionate, intense kiss and they end up kissing for a long time and she realizes that he is the one for her. Like all couples, they never have every single little thing in common (like frog legs, but she gives polka a try like on the actual show in season 9 Polkapalooza and ends up loving it) but she realizes he is the one for her, he makes her feel things she's never felt before, her eyes are opened and she's seeing him in the way he deserves to be seen, the kissing makes her realize he is attractive with his glasses and he truly loves her and adores her and she finally feels the same way and they are together from that moment on and Hungry Eyes from Eric Carmen becomes their song because of how they both look at each other (Steve has always looked at Laura with such passionate intensity but now they both look at each other in this way, and many parts of the song apply to one or both of them). They are together and very romantic and passionate while still waiting until marriage to make love. Just like on the actual show, they save themselves for marriage. But Hungry Eyes is their song they kiss to and dance to, among other songs. I just typed up and picture and wish a far better storyline (including dialog, different school and family scenes) where there's so much more romance and passion between them since Steve knew all along he and Laura were meant to be together since kindergarten and it took Laura 15 years to realize he is the one for her. In my alteration from that scene in Just One Date in season 4, after the long kissing and Steve fainting in her arms for about a minute from taking his breath away which also took her breath away and she kind of fainted too and her holding him in her arms and never feeling so good and holding him, Laura profusely apologizes to Steve and admits for several years she has had suppressed and denial of feelings for him and has gotten jealous and missed him (which she really does on the actual show like with Susie in season 2 which makes this alteration even better) and tells him all these things leading up to her kissing him and how she couldn't tell him beforehand and ever since that kiss in the kitchen, she realizes that he always knew they were meant for each other but now she knows and never has felt better in her life and feels so free and alive. Another scene in my alteration that really makes me cry when I picture/type/read/share about is shortly after they are together and are having a romantic time and kissing. Laura asks Steve what was the very first thing he said to himself the moment he first saw her in kindergarten. Steve tells her "I said there's my future wife." And Laura starts to cry and reaches up and touches his face with her hand and says "Steve that is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard." Steve says "I love you, Laura" and they look at each other so intently and Laura says "Steve, I love you" and they start kissing again and embracing. Another scene not too long after they are together is Steve brings Laura to his bedroom because Laura asks Steve about the picture that was taken at what was called the "non-date" several years prior. She asks him if he had the picture and he tells her it's framed in his bedroom. So they are sitting on the bed and Steve has his arm around Laura and she is looking at the picture and gets really emotional and teary eyed and says "Steve, you have loved me all this time" and just keeps looking at the picture. Steve, with his arm around Laura, rubs her arm and looking at her passionately says "Yes." She hands the picture back to him and he puts it back on his dresser and sits back down right next to her and he tells her he's never loved her more than at that moment (meaning that current moment in Steve's bedroom, not the non-date) and she tells him she loves him just as deeply and they kiss. The very first family scene since the kissing in the kitchen is Laura and Steve together telling her family they are together and belong together and will be getting married after high school and are saving themselves for marriage. At first, Carl is the only one kind of hesitant but acknowledges that they really love each other. Just like on the real show, Carl says "son" to Steve in the final episode, only in my alteration, he says it several years earlier and sees how good Steve and Laura are together. Laura, when first telling her family the next morning with Steve about them being together, says Mother Winslow was right about Steve being a "fine young man" and Aunt Rachel being right when she said Laura looked jealous when Steve was hanging out with Susie and giving her that present. In another scene a while later when Laura is in bed about to go to sleep, both her parents come in to say goodnight and Laura tells them how much she loves Steve with all her heart and they really were meant for each other and they say how they see such improvement in Steve (not improvement like on the actual show, just improvement as far as Steve and Laura being together and spending most of their time together) since they've been together and how happy Laura is. They of course are happy they will be getting married and also saving themselves for marriage. When Laura and Steve tell Steve's parents, Laura tells them how much she loves him and they will be getting married after high school and sometime several years later, having children and they want them in their lives. That Steve isn't asking for the moon or a handout, just in their lives and to be a part of their kids' lives. Steve's parents do come around and tell Steve he has a good woman and to never let her go. When Steve tells Laura what his parents said, Laura tells him she'll never let him go. Other times Laura tells Steve she wouldn't trade Steve for anyone or anything when they are having romantic and kissing moments and Steve tells her the exact same thing. If only it could have been the way I typed it and envision it, I can't type everything as I picture but it's beyond incredible. It's so beautiful and romantic and passionate and intense without being actual sex. No clothes taken off or anything like that. Very romantic and passionate while still being innocent for TV. They hold each other a lot and the kissing they do is like how you see Rocky and Adrian kiss for the first time in Rocky and the kissing Rocky and Adrian have when they are lying on the bed right before they make love in Rocky II after getting married. So incredible!
This wasn't the 1st time Steve told Laura off. There was a episode in the 8th season called "Dream Date" Where it was the Senior prom and everyone was excited. Curtis had to cancel because he had a funeral to attend to his grandmother died. And Steve was devastated cause Myra had pneumonia and was in the hospital so him and Laura didn't have dates so Steve had the idea that they should go together but Laura wanted Steve to change into Stefan so Steve thought that was a great idea but he changed his mind and told her "No" then he said" this is my prom not Stefan's. Stefan didn't go to his high school for 4 years. I did. Tonight's my night and I'm going to that prom even if i have to go by my lonesome.
+Franvina Sos Myra was legitimately afraid Laura really would take Steve from her one day. I think there had always been a part of Laura that wanted Steve for more than a friend, and Myra could sense that.
Ok she did get really mean sometimes. She needed to hear him stand up to her but like I said she was always honest about her feelings toward Steve. He was right to stand all the way up to her!!!! Like for real.
I use to see this show everytime it was on tv it was fun to watch/ yo veia este show cada vez que lo presentaban era bueno y lo encrotaba bonito de ver
I thought this was a Steve and Laura video. Why was Myra in it? You didn't put the ending in afterwards, when they shared the bed. Where Steve was on top of the covers and Laura was in the covers. 😀
The only reason Steve was attracted to Laura is because she didn't want him for so long. Myra had it all. Then when Laura sees Steve with another woman, she gets jealous and wants to be with him. Sounds like the making of a long lasting successful relationship.

I understand where steve urkel is coming from and I totally agree with not allowing somebody to push you around and take advantage because a human being does have feelings. Yet...also steve should understand and respect the fact of how laura turns him down as many times he be chasing her and just willingly invites hisself in the winslow home even when they don't want him there. Regardless of how much you love someone with all your heart... if a person don't want you, then a person don't want you...PERIOD! Why chase a person down and even to a point to surround yourself around the person's family unwanted? That's not respecting a person's feelings either. True...steve was nice enough to help laura out and she shouldn't be ungrateful of it like that. But still...i'm sure laura didn't put a gun to Steve's head and made him do it. Steve volunteers hisself to laura and the Winslow family so maybe he just need to sort of respect their feelings too sometimes. Ijs

@RedBandMagic03, you know what I have to tell you the strangest thing lol I was just thinking about her and that show today I think it's because a lot of my 90s shows were coming on like Jamie Foxx and Martin and then I just so happened to read your comment lol. Yes that is extremely sad that she died, she was very talented.
In my opinion it was so unsatisfying in the last season when Laura started returning Steve's affection.......I felt like she didn't deserve him to be honest. Just like on The Parkers series finale when Professor Oglevee finally realized that he loved Nicki Parker after years of curving her.......and she left another man at the altar to be with him. He didn't deserve her either.......
It‘s great when Steve tells Laura off, but he had nne thing wrong. Does he really think she doesn‘t love him back? First, she lets him drive her into another state. Next, she goes into a motel room with him. Finally, she lets him hop into the same bed with her! Look at her, Steve. She‘s got it bad for you! All her yelling and critiicism is just nervous energy. I love watching these two together. They get me choked up..
She just didn't want to admit any feelings beyond friendship at that time. At least she learned to respect him more, and things did change later for them.
