I always amazed me how they were always able to blend the vocals with the instruments without a break. It was seamless. The voice would go out and the instrument would come in then they would reverse it. THE GREATEST BAND EVER EVER EVER!!!!!!
+chocolate smitten Maurice died today in L.A. after a long battle with Parkinson's. He was diagnosed in 1992 and his condition deteriorated in recent months. The disease had progressed to the point he was forced to stop touring with the band 1994.
theanimatedgirl@@#$%# I feel you-2016 has been a horrible year. . .We have to keep the memory alive of trailblazers like Bro Maurice (and many others) by passing down this CLASSIC TIMELESS MUSIC to the youngins and teach them about it 😉
First of all this is when award shows were worth watching simply because of groups like Earth Wind & Fire who play live music and not singing from some computer or turntable who actually show the reason why they are legends and they will forever be Legends and needless to say the greatest band ever to perform! I'm not knocking any of our younger generation musicians but there just no comparisons great Earth Wind & Fire! #MemphisproductMauriceWhite
There are only two things separating this generation of music with the younger generation : Originality and Objectivity. That's why there's only one EWF and many Justin Bieber's. Nothing against Bieber. Just an example. 😊
Right on Xiomara, I've following them since back just before Disco music came out in the mid seventies! I'm even proud to say that I've still got their first albums they came out back in the days of the vynil records, 8 tracks and then in the early eighteis they came with cassettes, that were a pain to get to a specific song that you wanted to listen to, and many times the tape would get tangled up or break, people that owned them know what I'm talking about! And I would listen to one of my favorite all time song of them Reasons the long version, especially while slow dancing with that special lady or someone that you really liked or wanted to get to know! Right on, right on! My only regret is that after more forty five of listening, buying and danced to their music God knows how many times! I've still haven't seen them live in a concert and I live in Tampa, Florida. And if I'm not mistaken they've been here at least four times in the last fifteen years! But hopefully next time they come God willing no matter what I'll be there! They don't make bands like that anymore and that have been around for almost fifty years and super famous and successful for that many years! Rest in peace the founder the late Maurice White! ❤️🕊️🇦🇷🇦🇷🇨🇺
great music those horns are truly the stuff but the horns back in the day with Don Myrick that was the real deal...if you ever get a chance to listen to them with a set of headphones it will blow your mind and that’s on any song!!! Enjoy
My kids are just a bit younger than you and I raised them on it. When my son was in band in high school his teacher asked an old skool type question/s and asked if anyone had a clue to who he was talking about. Everyone was stomped/clueless....except my son, waving his hand and all full of himself. The class and moreso the teacher was amazed that he knew the answer was EW&F. When asked how he knew: It's my mom's favorite band and she has always played their music. I grew up singing their songs. It's 2 of their c.d.'s in my car right now :-).
It makes my heart happy that despite his condition, Maurice was able to share the stage and accept this award with the band. I love EWF to my soul. If you get a chance, read Maurice White’s book “My Life with Earth, Wind, and Fire. A beautiful read on the mind of the genius, and all of the good and bad they went through as a band. ✌🏾☯️✊🏽💜
I'm watching this in 2019 and it's nice to know that I can still be amazed and blown away by music. Theirs were the songs of my life back in the day. RIP Maurice, your legacy continues....
For me, it was the early 80's. Little white kid growing up south of Chicago. I remember telling my neighbor how much I liked Kool and the Gang. I must have been 8 or 9. He hands me a cassette tape to play at home. I popped it in and heard "Let's Groove" by EWF for the first time in my life. I was hooked! I believe I wore that tape out! Now 45 years old and I am still watching their old videos from that time period.
been listening to their spine-tingling, smile-forming, feet-moving, libido-driving beats for 20-plus years and, yes, I knew I was a black man in my previous life. Forever love EW&F
Wow... this truly takes me back. Earth, Wind and Fire were my escape from the troubles of this world. Had it not been for their music, who knows... I would probably had turned to drugs. But the power of music is a wonderful thing and the power of EWF help bring me through some tryin' times. God bless you Maurice White.
EWF will never be forgotten there will never be another group like theirs. This was the era of the best bands and musicians and singers. Regardless of how old they get they will be young in our hearts. Their music will continue for many generations to come. we love you always. I won't take away the credit for other great musicians but I am Baby Boomer so the 60's 70's 80's 90' 2000's will always be the greatest era of Soul, R&B
Been with their Music since the 70s , and will continue to have that great Music in my & family's life .... (watched them live 3 times ) R.I.P. Maurice , a Musical Genius
Mr white was and will forever be a musical genius EWF where one if not the baddest band to ever grace the stage and believe me there are some bad groups but these guys set the standard so thank you Mr Maurice White and Eerth Wind and Fire for blessing us with your music watching in 2022 / 61 years old I grew up with this music and have albums still rest easy Mr White
My big brother, God rest his soul, introduced me to the Elements & "real music" when I was very young. I am thankful to him and I still have an appreciation to this day. There have been many great bands but EWF set the standard. I love this band and still go see them perform every chance I get.
It is March 2020 and couped up at home watching this today. EWF...the baddest of bad. Loved seeing the King Maurice White come out and perform. He gave it his all and is still one of the greatest musicians of all time. This music will never grow old...
To see them again i was lost for words thank you earth, wind, and fire for 30 year's i still play your music and Congrlations on your award god bless yous all
I can't say I've never believed in church. But my life has been one of thanking god. Living in the project's in Chicago, my life has not been easy. I remember getting up in the morning going to a bench watching the sun come up . I would take my giant portable radio and turning it as loud as I could. The music of earth, wind & fire would be my church. It would lift me up. And I would talk to God . And he would talk to me. He would tell me to hold on and keep my head to sky. Peace.
No other band, has brought me closer to GOD (to the point of being called onto the service by GOD HIMSELF) because I know the workings of GOD, these men came from GOD, to bring GLORY to GOD... blessed is the generation that was reminded of GOD Thur E.W.F we 2 servants will always love you...love you too Steve or mr Harvey 🙂... peacemakerservant1
Honestly i'm now 17 so obviously i wasn't there when this originally came out. I discovered Earth Wind and Fire a month ago and it's so much better than all the music from this generation. I wish people still made songs like they did but oh well, i guess i'mma just boogie to the old generation!
This comment makes me think you have ADD - what does this beautiful tribute have to do with Frankie Beverly and Maze? Yes, they were good like many other groups, but EWF is in a class of their own.
@@richieprimoretro There's 1 constant n Maze Featuring Faankie Beverly & EWF. I c that it went way way above Ur Head & Consciousness. Hope U understand after this lesson. Both groups music comes from love & understanding. Not just 4 self but 4 Mankind. U missed that b cause Ur talking about Shaking Ur Ass. That's not the Main Ingredient of their Music. It's only 1. C U miss the Devotion, Prayers, & Sermons, Preaching. That's inclusive N Each Group Music. Someone that misses something n front of them would have more of the Symptoms Of ADD B Cause Their Attention Isn't On The Obvious Which The Definition Of Discernment Looking Past The Obvious So May U Have ADD No Discernment FOOD FOR THOUGHT GO FIGURE
So right. Not taking anything away from EWF, but there is another band on the West Coast ( Bay Area) and their name is MAZE featuring Frankie Beverly or Frankie Beverly and Maze ( whichever you choose). They are a part of the same era when musicians actually played, brought the funk and gave outstanding performances. Plus, Frankie Beverly had an amazing voice, and still performs. Both EWF and Maze are two legendary bands that have stood the test of time, performing over 40 years.
@@benjamlnlewis6836 That's a very 'hip and spiritual' reply you've come up with... but I'm still missing the relevance of Maze in this comment section discussion.
Richie Prime I can't teach U DISCERNMENT. U must DISCERN the Revelance. Ur almost there when U said that very SPIRITUAL & All. They r DELIVERY THE SAME MESSAGE. I can't get any closer. U must look past the OBVIOUS.
Perfect! 1975 Loyd Noble Center on the Campus of Oklahoma University winter time EWF appeared . Man I was young man on a track scholarship and did I enjoy my time . That night place was packed with black folks waving there hands above to the beat. I made my way down front and just took it all in . Maurice was show man did he gives us something special.. Everyone that night had a good time . No violence just joy and smiling faces.. What a great time. LB Nov 2022
I've been a singer since 1969 this is my favorite group you have no idea how many times I've dreamed of singing with them. Rest in peace Maurice White and all the Earth Wind & Fire members who've gone-on on.
