I love the idea this show presented here. That sometimes what you need most is a friend, not a girlfriend. That not everything is fixed by getting into a romantic relationship. That friendships are just as important and life changing as relationships.

She could be bi, she seriously hesitated to denying any feelings for him other than friendship meaning there could be a little love spark in there for him, she's just a little unsure about it which is normal. Plus I'm sorry but that holding hands when frightened moment convinced me that they'll be a couple down the line. It's happened so many times on screen between future couples including Lucas and Max.
@@verytired1163 Watch the entirety of Robin's scenes closely in S3 and then come to your conclusion. I have some full on lesbian friends and none of them have ever exhibited those types of behavior towards a guy. I'll admit Robin believed she was lesbian up to this point of her life. Anyone can change, just takes the right circumstances or the right person.

There is no "changing" your sexual orientation. She's a lesbian. deal with it. "I have friends that are lesbians and don't act that way." you aren't a lesbian so zip it.
I’d be fine if she were bi, but I want her to get a girlfriend, otherwise it would be like they wanted to represent a community, but didn’t want the character to seem actively part of it. Because show do that, so they can keep the homophobes, and the homosexuals watching
It was actually Robin's actress, Maya Hawke who came up with the idea of Robin being gay because although she never saw Robin and Steve as a couple she saw Robin as gay but it wasn't put into the script until they were shooting the 4th and 5th episodes

Everybody needs to stop shipping them. She’s gay. Stop wishing that she’s bi. U don’t always get what u want. Steve and robin need to b friends coz they literally have no other friends (at least of age). These two can pick up girls together.
EXACTLY, I never see lesbian representation, and when I do there are always people who think they're lying, or ship them with a male character. I'm soo sick of it.
I can’t believe some people saying “oh but Steve deserve better” shut up already like I get it but boo Hoo. You have to realize it was the 80s and being gay or lesbian or having same sex tendencies were completely and utterly wrong and you could get bullied and shamed at enormously at the time, imagine how scared she must have been knowing her only friend could hate her. You could even see the anxiety in her face and body language Yes I love Steve and he deserved better whatever though he just got rejected she on the other hand was scared she could’ve gotten bullied or outed by Steve
Honestly, if they add another/different character to the show to become Steve’s love interest, that plot line is just going to be derivative. Season 1, he gets the girl. Season 2, the girl leaves him. Season 3, he finds another girl but she’s lesbian (or possibly bi!). Like don’t tell me you’re gonna add another female actress to play his hopefully next girlfriend for season 4. It’s kind of too repetitive. I really just hope the Duffers give these two at LEAST a chance to see how it would go for them in the next season. If it doesn’t work out, there’s always (hopefully) a season 5, and then we’ll finally have closure if Robin is only into girls or not. If you disagree, let me know bc I like reading people’s different opinions and their views on season 4.
I agree sm on this but I think Steve's gonna be single for the rest of the show... I mean... idk.. but I have this feeling it's weird but.. its pure I still have hope..
2:13 - 2:18 That's the moment you realize the writers were going to make them romantic but changed opinions at the last minute. Their reaction to their hands holding was the kind of reaction you write for a potential romantic relationship, not friendship. If it were just friendship they both would be annoyed not surprised and panicked as if they were scared to the touch because It made them feel something.
I feel like they are soulmates, just not in a romantic way :) , they are like the Jen and Jack (Dawson's Creek) of this era, but with him be Jen and with her been Jack ofc :)
I’m gonna write my own season four finale. During the whole season, Robin goes out with some girls but it just doesn’t feel right, like something is missing inside. It’s raining at night and she sits on a bench, wondering if it’s her or someone else. Finally, she has an epiphany. She runs all the way to Steve’s place, because now he lives on his own, and knocks on the door. When he opens it, he asks her what she wants because she woke him up and she makes a decision. She grabs Steve and kisses him. It’s at this moment that she realizes that it was Steve that she wanted all along. She still likes girls but likes Steve a bit more. They end up going inside and into his bedroom, closing the door behind them. Later, we see them snuggling in bed, asleep, and Robin smiles because she knows she found what she was missing the whole time. Yeah, I know, it won’t happen, but it’s just a sweet little headcanon. No harm in shipping them.
