I've heard other people from the cast say the same thing. Dude used to work for the Columbo's as an associate. His "few years in the army, few more in the can...now here i am: a half a wise guy" (paraphrased) line from the show was ad-libbed on his part...because that was actually his life.

First I want to say that I agree with you about Seth. I’m not a massive fan of his. But I thoroughly respect and enjoy his interviewing style. He doesn’t unnecessarily interrupt the guests. He gets the conversation going, and gets out of the way. If he needs to interject more(bc some guests need more help than Steve and Michael😂) he will. But he basically is a conductor.. as opposed to someone like Howard Stern who is supposed to be the conductor, but every single interview, he turns into a soloist. And dominates the conversation. It drives me up a wall. Now that that’s out-of-the-way… I share the experience you had with watching these shows. Admittedly, my experience wasn’t quite as rough as yours. The fact you’re still standing after going through all that is remarkable. But I too was in a tough place back then. My wife and children were hit by a drunk driver back 2002. The accident claimed her life. Fortunately, my children all survived. But I was at the time massive fan of the show. but after that happened, I remember seeing the episodes on screen when they aired.. but it was almost like I couldn’t emotionally, intellectually, or spiritually be present enough to absorb what I was watching. So during the pandemic, I went back through the series. Anyways… I’m going on too long. I just wanted to say that whilst my experience isn’t identical to yours, I can definitely relate🙏🏽

I think when you watch the show a few years after the first watch is when you realise much more about the show and what made it so good, I think that’s the real way to know if a tv show is good is when it draws you back in many years later and is still good enough to make you binge watch even though you know the outcome of each episode and series and not feel like someone has spoilt it for you.
