As of April 12th 2018 Twin Galaxies has removed all of Billy Mitchell's scores and given him a lifetime ban for cheating. Steve Weibe is now correctly recognized as the first 1 million point Donkey Kong player. Congratulations to Steve Weibe! You are the true King of Kong Steve!!
Yeah really sad, and also was something that just didn’t make any sense. They did it because they thought this tool Billy was a better brand than Steve, it seemed to me. It’s insane lol. Steve is a great story and Billy is a troll magnet meme.
I'm just watching the King of Kong documentary. Just wondering, we all love Steve. But was Billy Mitchell's original centipede score bad too? And Donky Kong Jr. 2. Nobody menntions those other ones.

The most amazing thing about this isn't the achievement, but the fact that a member of the human race is seriously, unironically, recording video on his 3DS.
And he personally calls you on your personal phone to congratulate you (if you don't have a phone, a letter slides from under your door), calling you by name without having ever met you, just before breaking your record on his own office. Also, when he enters his initials on the Highscore screen, they appear on every copy of the same game, everywhere on all ports made of it.
Honestly I think he's become more well known since the King of Kong movie, but only because he's the laughing stock of the competitive retro gaming world. He's even in the midst of multiple court cases for fraud with Twin Galaxies and some other people who he's come after with frivolous lawsuits for "defamation of character" when they objectively proved he was a cheater.
I once saw billy Mitchell beat every video game at an arcade in 81 of a single quarter. He even emptied out an impossible claw machine and gave them away to the hobos and little hobo children on skid row.
I'd be surprised if Steve even wanted to talk to Billy. 'oh here's Billy on the phone to congratulating you!' why does he care? why should he care? why is Billy keeping tabs on Steve?
You are lucky to have such a cool dude as your teacher. If you haven't seen it you should watch "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" it is all about Steve's rivalry with Billy Mitchell.
ISEE YOU It was good that it got exposure out to these guys but it was a pretty one sided movie that was edited in a way to create drama and make people out to be bad guys when they're really not.
Chris Anderson Yeah I kind of gathered that but it did make for a good story. Ya gotta like Steve because in the end he really was the underdog. He didn't have the background these guys had. I enjoyed it.
