Hollywood actor and martial artist Steven Seagal joined Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting (www.mmafighting.com/) on The MMA Hour. Seagal discussed training with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva for the Chael Sonnen rematch at UFC 148 and challenged 'Judo' Gene Lebell's story that he beat up Seagal on the set of a movie.

Segal said he taught Anderson Silva the front kick. Andrson Silva said Segal only tag along with them. Who do You believe? Segal is obviously a liar..You think Silva don't know a front kick? comon. That's a basic kick and Andrson can do crazier moves than that.

Yeah I get what you're saying. But the fact is Silva and Machida both knew that kick for years and Seagal had said he spent the last 30 years perfecting it which is ridiculous. Maybe more believable if he was a TKD master. A high ranked master like Seagal should be very humble, not bash 99% of mma fighters saying they don't have skill etc.... Well I'll meet you half way, I do agree that a fighter is made before he gets in the ring..lol...He/She has to be in order to put it on the line.

Steven Seagal is one hell of an advisor from what I hear. Anderson Silva is the one who talked Black House into welcoming him in. The reason Dana wants Jon Jones to stay at LHW is so we can see Silva vs. Jones! Some people don't think it'll happen, but Dana does (and that's all that counts).

Understandable. I think that a lot of the old war horses of his time feel the same way. They just don't feel that the UFC has begun to reach it's highest level of competition. The UFC is still primarily young and has a rather shallow pool of competition compared to where it could be in say.... 5 - 10 years or so.

Seagal is a martial artist. His teachings are useful in this sport of mixed "martial arts." Rogan is a former tae kwon do champion & he just got his blackbelt from Bravo so I think he is a pretty credible. Im not sayin there arent aspects of other fighting styles that cant be incorporated into MMA but other styles have limits. You mentioned Cung Le, watch the Silva vs Le fight its a perfect example of holes in tae kwon do which is based on kicking and distance when Silva got Le into clinch he had no answer & inside he kept getting hit because he is used to fighting with his hands down

There's a huge difference between a real martial artist and a fighter. Seagal is not a fighter. Fighting is a mentality, a very small % from any martial art will go cause they want to compete, they are fighters. The ones who just go to class, learn skills gets a black belt but doesn't compete is NOT a fighter. I agree Seagal can teach like the greats you mentioned, however he can teach Aikido not MMA, The hate on Seagal is based on him saying he invented and perfected the kick Anderson did

I dont disagree with you.I am a tae kwon do black belt as well and can point out MANY holes in the art just like you explained.Im just saying when combined with other disciplines like boxing (teaching you to keep your hands up) and defensive wrestling and bjj it can be effective however I think Muay Thai is a better route to go than tae kwon do.

I like Seagal. In his prime(first 5 movies) he was simply the greatest. His martial arts on the screen was much cooler and far more entertaining than van Damme´s or Norris´s. What´s odd to me is that he said he knwe Bruce Lee through James Coburn. Lee died back in 1973 when Seagal was 21. At the time Seagal was not a Martial Arts master. I ask myself how he could knew James Coburn? Somehow I doubt that Seagal ever knew Bruce Lee though I´m a big fan you him.
