Your a victim as yo think that film was real. I can hardly be called a "documentary" when the initial premise its based on "NEVER" happened. Cant wait for that to come up in court. Yup, TG has a rock solid case with that one. Gonna be impossible to white wash that one.

For you to break the world record in front of people at funspot is the ultimate show of champion. I bet the guy with the record today couldn’t do what you did in a a day in front of everyone. I don’t understand why so many clung to Billy when you showed everyone what you can do live. You are the true King of Kong in my book. Many think the same too. God bless you Steve!
After the competitive scene became 10 times what was in 2004 (maybe even larger), Steve is still 11th in the world. Incredible, still an amazing player.
This score always makes me laugh. Watching Billy struggle all those times and for so much time to get decent scores. You come along and in weeks rip a score better than he ever has. No BS stories, excuses or drama.

Nope, something wrong with his PCB as a normal 1981 PCB does not generate the elevators with blue bottoms. This could be an indicator of a serious issue with the PCB. Surprised nobody has pointed that out,, then again what can one expect? Steve is handed anything he wants including other peoples records and history attached with them to use as his very own! Steve should just write the score he thinks he should have with a crayon on the back of a napkin and hand it in, IT WILL BE VERIFED 100% no questions asked.
Nope, there was a malfunction with the PCB as there are not supposed to be elevators with blue bottoms, makes me wonder why its different from a properly working PCB.
@@marymcmanus1877 That would not be a malfunction... As a game developer, if it is just one specific object that has disciloured pixels.. rhat would indicate the sprite library isnt incorrect. If it is all pixels with that. Shade it is supposed to be, it is likely the mixture of his camera, the glass between the game screen, and the downgraded quality from upload. (Or it is a different version of the game.. but just keep in mind things i mention above. See if any of those would be more likely than a diff version of the game. If someone would make a diff version, they wouldnt use custom sprites. Would be stupid to do so. )
@@canadianGuitatist Ahhhhhhh are the colors correct? No? Then theres a malfunction. Ive seen 100% legitamate games disqualified for no other reason than so this guy could claim the credit and profit. So I can atleast point out a minor malfunction that may indicate a bigger problem.
i remember watching the fistful or quarters documentary back in 2011, I was in high school and my English teacher made us watch it and write an essay. Learned a valuable lesson from this documentary.

Thanks for sharing! I actually picked up an original Donkey Kong Arcade a few months ago after seeing your story in King of Kong! I can't come anywhere close to your score (yet) but the story of you playing in your garage getting better and better inspired me to keep practicing.

The real King of Kong, even with me trying to get better at Donkey Kong, i'm amazed at watching Steve do all these little tricks that i never even thought of
Dont think steve will read this its an old video. Steve as a player was fantastic as a man hes someone many people should lookup too and aspire to be maybe one day in a not so distant future he dusts off the old arcade machine and gets the record back well done steve .
In the king of kong doc, the takeaway, for me was Steve's a winner because he's a decent man with a good family who supports him because they love him. Billy Mitchell was a loser because he was a self centered person who was vain & deceitful. The game was secondary

It’s so nice to see a recording that includes the actual players voice and sound. And DOES’NT include any ‘video glitches’ or MAME screen draw protocols. O, and a 4-way joystick! Shame not all players can be this honest………………..
The utter joylessness in the video as he achieves the highest score he's ever achieved, gingerly moving the camera around to prove in exhaustive, needlessly paranoid detail that his machine was not tampered with... so depressing. Makes me wish he'd get a really bad hangnail and be forced to retire, just so he can relax and enjoy his life as a universally beloved figure in gaming.
crazy, and odd question, what gloves do you wear and what stool do you use for 3 hours of play? I have some arthritis or carpal tunnel stuff and I need a good stool! Congrats man, all the way to the top! Go for it!

this game IS SO HARD it’s insane it shows that back then video games tested you mentally on so many levels now video games have become over indulgent and making the line between reality and virtual reality paper thin kind of explains how people are now
Exceptional! How can you hold concentration so long. And also some unbelievable (no pun intended) stunts jumping over three barrels! Interestingly, you could walk up that last ladder in girders 49 times in a row, but when arriving with the time running out, you had to show the game who‘s in charge and needed to jump over some more barrels, love that. Also watched the entire three hours, but that was easy in comparison to your feat😂 Keep on!

Steve, I'm trying to learn some things from watching you play. I figured out the jumping near Donkey Kong for points trick, but what are you doing when turning left and right next to the ladders on the barrel stages? Can you control which ladders the barrels go down?
go to Karl Jobst here on youtube, and there's going to be a video about Donkey Kong and the mechanics behind it. Watch it to see all the stuff that you can do, but yes you can heavily manipulate barrels for which ladder they can drop to. Not guaranteed, but very high chance
I used to play this in 82 here in Calgary whenIwasin jr high. Mr. Wiebe, you have a very traditional style of playing. This is what I remember playing to be. I've watched 'another guy' play but despite him being old school career wise he definitely doesn't play old school style. I myself am a Ladybug fan but played my share of DK cause Pac was a bit boring and crazy hard to play for any amount of time. And ya we saw WIZ on all our arcade cabinets all over Calgary at that time, nobody had any idea we just wondered why everyone would choose those initials for their high score. I remember thinking that it was something that the machine was programmed to do to avoid blank a score screen becausethe numbers were so outrageously high, lolz. I now know why that was.
