A very special, and rare, performance of Stevie Nicks performing her Fleetwood Mac classic "Gold Dust Woman." It's rare, not because she's a guest at Bob Welch concert, but because she's wearing a short skirt.
I was living in Venice when hey rented a space down the block from where I was living, and evenings were filled with the music of Fleetwood Mac as they prepared for the Tusk tour. I will never grow tired of the music of Fleetwood Mac.
RIXRADvidz That must have been awesome. I would have loved to had that going on when I was living in Cali. I'll never grow tired of Fleetwood Mac either. One of the all time great bands.
RIXRADvidz I scored coke for her twice. (never met her though) I feel bad about it now, given the problems she had. But, one of the coolest things was, i went to the renaissance fair with this friend of mine once who looked just like Stevie, with her, and Stevie's mom! (and some guy i'm assuming was her assistant) She was very cool, and must have been wearing one of Stevie's dresses. It sure looked like it. The flowy type she always wore. That will always be such a great memory. She was very sweet. RIP Barbara.
Can't we just go back, I mean nobody is doing music at this level anymore. Classic icons, set the bar so high no one has reached it! Keep rockin on Stevie!!
@@jstnxprsn OMG! Magnet & Steel I remember that came out when I was in High School late 70's Loved that song so much reminded me of My then boyfriend & myself.. I haven't heard that song in over 40 years.. Thanks for info, I need to look into that.. By the way was Walter Egan from Steely Dan?? I loved their music so much
@@robertwoodward9231 All of the above singers mentioned are fantastic. Nikka Costa is the one that does it for me. The most criminally underrated female performer ever.
I guess it’s a big deal because it’s like the only time she wore a miniskirt on stage instead of one of those long skirt things she wore you know who cares I agree how dumb
Honestly, everyone, this video was first uploaded 13 years ago! And, it’s making a return that really has reignited just how incredible Stevie Nicks IS, even today over 40 years since the video was made! Her voice is so unique! Her typical performances on stage with her flowing lace outfits were a VERY essential part of what made her a one of a kind. Fleetwood Mac, would have never risen to the stature it attained without her. Yes, I’m a guy, and the title saying she was in a mini skirt got my attention. However, in the end I could have cared less about the skirt! To hear her unusual vibrato voice is absolutely captivating. She ruled the stage… that’s all that mattered.
Her voice was so taken for granted by some of us! I just thought she was a singer of our time. But, to this day, there has been NO ONE with a voice like hers! She could sing ballads tenderly, rock songs with angst, and anything else…all in a voice uniquely her own! Rock on STEVIE NICKS!
I remember seeing her singing Rhiannon on tv in mid 1970s. I was a 16 yo girl at the time. I remember her amazing voice, the incredible song, her black witchy clothing, her blonde long hair. I was instantly into Fleetwood Mac. Love it. Bought the vinyls, still got them today 👍
Went to Arcadia High School with Stevie Nicks..Such a hottie back then and what a voice. Sang in choir and was by far best voice in school..We all knew she would be big..And a sweet girl..
Bob Welch. The almost forgotten front man of Fleetwood Mac between the Peter Green years and the Buckingham Nicks era. He started the transformation from blues/rock to a more progressive sound. Several very good tunes came out of his time including Hypnotized, Sentimental Lady and Emerald Eyes.

I love her voice. It's beautiful, unique, and one of a kind... which is what makes her so special. That cookie cutter image of what a voice is "supposed" to sound like has never appealed to me. Every time i've seen her live she always sounded fantastic...plus she has a great connection with the audience.
When I saw her live with FM in the eighties, she went an octave lower on the choruses of her earlier songs to save her voice for the later, more intense ones. She ruined "Rhiannon" and a few others. "Stand Back" was great.
Stevie nicks a beautiful voice she has and she is still a beautiful woman Fleetwood Mac real music Stevie nicks has a real. Voice rock on Stevie 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶❤️♥️
Fleetwood has been my favorite group since the early 70's. Two of the greatest female performers ever Stevies haunting voice ans Cristies angelic voice
I finally got to see the Mini Skirt during the last 15 seconds of the Video! With, or Without, 18 or 80, I love Stevie Nicks and Christie McVie! Both are GREAT!
I've got one of those Gibson RD Artist guitars! They should have gone on hands and knees to Bob Welch to ask him to rejoin Fleetwood Mac when Buckingham tumbled head first out of the band.
Mick Fleetwood is one lucky man. Average drummer joins a blues band which breaks up, sticks with it through the lean years as there's nowhere else to go and finds a few years later it has morphed, for reasons beyond his control, into one of the world's biggest rock bands, without his ever having to sing or write anything. To top it all, in the process the lanky git gets to schtupp one of the most gorgeous gals ever. And they give him lots of money for this.
Wait. A. Minute. Are you telling me Mick Fleetwood Schtu... I mean, had SEXUAL INTERCOURSE with freakin' STEVIE NICKS?! OK, seroiusly, now I want a refund from God.
Yitzhak Shtarker I know what you mean. I spoke to God and said 'Sorry to bother you, but I think someone got my life by mistake'. I read his book though and yup it seems she's either just flakey enough to have wanted to rile Linsey after they broke up, or suffers from bouts of indiscriminate nymphomania of a type only normally seen in cheesy porn flicks. Funny thing is, iirc Mick cheated on her! So any ugly awkwardly built kids out there -forget school, buy that drum kit now!! You don't need to practice or anything, just sit there bashing away and the women and money will find you.
Stevie has always had one of most distinct female voices in rock history, & this was one of her greatest hits. Nice to see her here with former Fleetwood Mac alum Bob Welch. The lyrics to this song & overall vibe are 😎 so cool!
@@gordie225 seriously what’s your point? Go post that on a Heart video. I love Heart, but I have always loved Stevie most. You don’t have to. You can love Ann Wilson most, that doesn’t negate my love or anyone else’s love for Stevie/Christine/Fleetwood Mac. Run along now.
@MoonSista Ray Wow, you need to take your meds! I love Stevie, too. I was just throwing my 2 cents worth in the "Who's the Queen of Rock and Roll" discussion. If I had known my opinion would cause a nervous breakdown, I would have kept my mouth shut.
I miss these types of performances. You just get up there and jam out and it doesn't matter that it lasted longer than the radio version. We're thankful for these songs that break the mold.
And just how good was this to the older generation who actually got to hear it live. My goodness, they are great. I really don't know of any other music today that can grab your soul as did these old bands.
I just watched Fleetwood Mac's show here in Tampa, this woman makes any 19 year old look bad. She is still gorgeous!! And needless to say, still has that powerful unique voice. Phew!!!!
I have followed Fleetwood Mac since the beginning. Stevie is the Epitome of an entertainer. Seductive voice, She is SO gorgeous too!! What an amazing package.
Like wut ? .....Fine women....Good music.....A nice old acoustic guitar....A well trained bird dog...Good vintage whiskey....then...wut?....You get old.....The DDT and the protected predator hawks deletes the wild bird supply....You cant hear well enough to appreciate the good music anymore because you ruined your hearing playing in rock and roll bands when younger .....Doc says you cant drink fine whiskey anymore.....Rarely pick up the old acoustic anymore....All my friends that I used to play with are dead.....Or might as well be because they act dead....The women are more beautiful than ever but they wouldn't give you a second look because you are old......They call you "sir"....Damn I hate that !...lol....
When Fleetwood Mac was really on top in the mid 70's, I met my wife of almost 40 years. If there "is " such a thing as love at first sight, it happened. My wife resembled Stevie. So when I see a video like this, it brings me right back to those days when we met and fell in love ! Not only does she resemble Stevie Nicks, but she is and always has been the angel of my dreams ! To me she still is that 19 year old girl I met !
What a gifted writer, singer and artist. Those Mac breakup songs about her and Lindsay were almost painful to watch them perform live. She is *so* unique. I'm glad to see her sober and doing well again.
There was never a better performer than she was when she was at her peak, which she was here. She makes the song comes to life; you feel what she is singing. This video all by itself justifies the existence of You-Tube
After so many years, like 40, I still haven't gotten over Nicks. I was obsessed with her, still am as an old fart, and could never find happiness with a real woman. No one could every measure up. I hope she will visit my grave when I die
We need to promote a Stevie Nicks lookalike contest where we judge the contestants, declare the winners, and then fuck them. They must look like Niki did 35-40 years ago, however.
I produced this videodisc concert of "Bob Welch & Friends" at the Roxy. Great concert. This was the stand out track with Mick Fleetwood practically in heat!. Glad it's showing up on the Internet.
+Paul Flattery When Stevie said, "they never let me play it this long" I figured it was with the encouragement of Mick. It's great to see this video and their interplay with each other. Mick Fleetwood's name should be added to the title of this video.
I miss Bob Welch. One of a number of artists who didn't fit the record company's blueprints. I'll bet he'd be still putting out some interesting, albeit different music. RIP, Bob, you won't be forgotten.
Fantastic. Stevie Nicks by far has the best voice of any female singer. Sings live. What a rare thing by todays standards. Her talent is absolutely amazing.
The good old days ('76-'78) with Stevie, Bobby, Lindsay, Owen, et al. FM (and Bob) rocked a lot harder on stage than on the studio versions. TX again to Owen for putting -- and keeping -- us all together.
Bob Welch was the frontman for what are still among my favorite F-M tracks. He was cast aside when long-overdue accolades came and I lost respect for those behind it. RIP Bob Welch.
Stevie Nicks will always be AWESOME! I love looking back to the 70's and listening to all the new Rock bands that came out. Thank you, God, for giving us Stevie Nicks, she is an awesome woman and an awesome person! Gorgeous.
Obviously Stevie & Mick were having a blast, This is the most happy & confident i have ever seen Stevie, drunk but really happy with who she was. Love It!!
I've just come to being a Stevie Nicks fan and I can see that she carries most of these songs on the strength of her own voice. It's very distinctive !!! and has a certain edge to it.....damned attractive!!I love it as well as being attracted to it. Sounds GOOD ! ! ! Sing to me Stevie!!!!
got to meet Stevie and Mick backstage after "Say You Will" concert in El Paso in 2003 where Stevie was presented with a dozen roses. She and Mick were so gracious to their fans; and I've always loved Bob Welch. Watched him perform "Sentimental Lady" with Christine McVie back when he opened for Jefferson Starship.
Now this song has a whole bunch of meaning for me. My first wife left and this song had just come out. I love this song and Stevie Nicks is just, well what can I say? Saw her and Fleetwood Mac many years ago live and up close and she's is just gorgeous.
This was a special show to showcase the new album by Bob Welch ( former member of Fleetwood Mac); the concert was dubbed Bob Welch and Friends and was filmed for the fledgling new cable channel MTV. I won 2 free tickets for this fun event from L.A. rock radio station KMET 94.7 ( the mighty Met). My friend and I had a great time. When KMET aired it I recorded it onto cassette and I enjoy listening to this great concert to this day. ROCK ON AMERICA!!
Stevie has a natural talent of writing in a song how she feels, she will always be my favorite although she did forget a line in this song with Bob Welch "wake up in the morning.." I'm quite sure she's was aware of it, and my hats off to the Gypsies that remain....so excited she has a new album out 24 Karat songs from the vault,I'm so proud if her for over coming her addictions, she truly is the QUEEN of rock n roll!!!
I know a guy nicknamed "Dog" who looked just like her hair and all. He had her image tattooed on his right arm/shoulder. Today the guy is bald. He worshipped her.
Bob Welch was an interesting individual. He left Fleetwood Mac when Buckingham and Nicks came in, because he knew the writing on the wall. But it's interesting that he has said that Sentimental lady, and Ebony eyes, both fantastic solo hits for him, we're going to be the next Fleetwood Mac songs. And then later, he kept in musical connection with the band members and continued to play with them. Very talented individual.
What a sensational artist Stevie Nicks has been. So charismatic, and an unforgettable voice, for so long! I'm so glad she survived all the cocaine and is still with us.
Ann Wilson AND Stevie are my two idols...oh and Bette Midler. It isnt all about range, it is about the FEELING, songwriting, stage presence, etc. Stevie always gets to me emotionally, maybe its the songwriting or the vibrato...and that angel face. Ann Wilson made the jerks behind me shut the hell up when she opened with Barracuda in their 1st ever Texas concert...just awesome. Bette got to me in her Rose performance, mirroring one of the best, Janis. So many greats!
This is a great video! I like the original better as well, but this is a great song sung by a great lady! It's very cool to see her with Bob! He was a great guitarist! He passed away not too long ago! Rock ON Bob!!
This by far is THE VERY BEST I've ever seen of this recording. This is when her and Mick we're covertly seeing each other and wow check out that fire those two set to the stage!! I love it! Thank you for sharing this to the world!
This whole gig was so informal and laid back. That’s what I still truly enjoy about it. I was 11 and was listening on I believe WNEW FM or WPLJ. One or the other.
