Rico Carrillo but Stevie was also more than blues as shown in this video. He’s used techniques that not even Hendrix used. People consider him the best no necessarily because of his influence or technical skill but because the guitar was literally just an extension of his body and no one ever played with his aggression

Shane Allder I always say this. Stevie had the benefit of jimis experience. Stevie adopted a few of jimis playing techniques to make his playing the way it was. Stevie was extremely talented of course. Jimi walked so Stevie could run

Something crazy about SRV, he plays on gauge 60 strings. People who are way into guitar will know, those are some thick ass strings. Bending strings like that would probably make my fingers snap, SRV makes it look easy. There's a legend that when SRV was 16 he was skipping school to sleep and then playing in the clubs all night. One night he played so long one of his fingertip callouses ripped off, and he super glued it back on and kept playing!
@adnap
@adnap 6 лет назад
One thing to note, he tuned his guitar down a half step with those heavy gauge strings. They were actually: 013 - .015 - .019p - .028 - .038 - .058

He didn’t just play the music...he became the music. I don’t think I’ve seen another guitarist lose themselves in the atmosphere like SRV. Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip and his trancelike stream-of-thought live vocals is about the only thing I’ve seen that comes close.

BB King broke a string and changed it mid song while continuing the vocals without missing a beat. I love SRV, and definitely agree one of the best, but blues has way too many subgenres to be able to call anyone the best blues guitarist to ever have existed. Stevie Ray Vaughan has made the biggest impact on me as a Guitarist. I've been playing for 18 year's, and no one made a lasting impression on me like Stevie Ray has. I worked as a Stage hand at the illinois State fair back in the 80's and 90's when he came to play. I sat on one of his monitors during the entire soundcheck with my mouth on the ground watching in amazement. After running a spotlight during the show I Rushed down the ladder and ran backstage to catch him walking down the ramp where I got his autograph and shook his hand. I can palm a basketball and his fingers were an inch longer than mine! Cried when he died.

the fact that you saw SRV do somethin crazy; and had to pause so you could check out wtf he was doin- Its a good sign; when I was learning how to play I did alot of that; really trying to figure the technique, even if I just had an old video to go by- It's a good sign man, it shows you enjoy it. - Good luck; and have fun, learning to play any instrument is a fabulous; terrifying journey.

Stevie Ray Vaughn used to put superglue on his fingertips so that he wouldn't cut them. One if the best guitarists ever

The story is actually way more rock n roll than that. He used to play so hard all night every night that his callouses would peel off and he'd superglue them back down to play again the next night.

I checked it out, SRV is miles better, better get your click together. You people that keep talking Vai and Sat have a itty bitty soul. I saw SRV once and Sattriani once. It was night and day, SRV is far, far the greater player and talent.

You really should check out Jimi Hendrix. SRV is doing a recitation of Hendrix's Little Wing (brilliantly, I might add), Hendrix was where a lot of modern rock guitar began, as well as funk & modern blues. You really got to check him out, Stevie was a great disciple of his.

I think you should listen to Heart's " Dream boat Annie , Magic Man & Barracuda". Jimi Hendrix"s "Trashman" & "All Along The Watchtower" Dire Straits "Sultans Of Swing" & Fleetwood Mac's "Rhianna" Live 1976 & Black Sabbath's "Black Sabbath, War pigs"

I love the description by the guy in the video saying that Stevie Ray ascended.....Vaughn had a style that was Hendrix heavy influence and he played on a whole different level than anyone else out there at the time.The man had his soul exposed in every performance....a true master of the guitar.....the most amazing thing is that Stevie never screwed up while he was playing....incredible talent gone way too soon.

The day my daughter was born , I was managing a live house. I couldn't get off until it was time, but, when I got the call and rushed off to be a dad again, this was the song that was playing. It will forever be her song, she will forever be my little wing.
