Kathy here - piano player is Reese Wynans and he is still playing today. One of the few who can play "5 fingers" and be perfect at it. He changed his guitar because he broke his string, He had a great stagehand who always knew when Stevie needed another one. He broke strings all the time!
Stevie Ray also did this same song with Jeff Healey. You should react to it, as Stevie Ray never played a song the same way twice. Jeff Healey was blind, but if you want to see somebody going "full ham" , then go watch Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughan "Look at Little Sister". Instead of the piano player going nuts on the keyboard, you'll see a blind man taking over that part and you won't believe what you're seeing. Seriously, it's impressive to say the least, and you will NOT regret watching it. 👌💯💣💥
So, one of the reasons he sweats so much is because he used 13 gauge strings, which are like telephone wires. I heard his hands, were monster strong. Huge, and he was a short guy. Recommendations for SRV, Tim Pan Alley with SRV and Johnny Copeland, Voodoo child live from Austin, SRV and Albert king live… pick a song, it’s a whole live jam in a studio. So many to pick from.
Thanks for the shout out and you are most welcome✌️. You will learn a lot from reading the comments from Stevie's many fans some of whom have experienced him live in person. You have many delights and surprises in store🎶🎸💯. Many people will request his cover of Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Chile from this same venue which is excellent‼️. My favorite version is from the Toyko Concert which elevated that song to such a different level it is hard to believe. I am sending a link to Tin Pan Alley from the Montreux Jazz Festival featuring Johnny Copeland, also a blues artist from Texas. He and Stevie give a master class in down and dirty blues showcasing a different side to his skill sets. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AGPx-ekqZEo.html Subbing for more Stevie Ray💯🎸🎶
Keyboard player is Reese Wynans. He joined the band in 1985 and was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the rest of them. To see other SRV videos that feature Reese, check out Mary Had a Little Lamb or Riviera Paradise from this same 1989 Austin City Limits show.
Hey man you have to listen to this one Stevie Ray Vaughan & Jeff Healey - 'Look At Little Sister'. Jeff is blind and plays his guitar like lap steel. Stevie actually met Jeff at a club and got to know him then helped him kick off his career. I think you'll like it for sure. Have a great day!
