Went to see him live doing "Basic Lee" four days ago. I'm still digesting it! His deconstruction of comedy is absolutely superb!

I love Stewart Lee, he is known as the comedian's comedian. his stand up is brilliant.. so ironic you saying if you explain the joke it's not funny, cos this is something Stewart Lee is famed for doing as he tells half the audience for not getting it lol

I hope you finish this set. It's very good and gets better IMO. However, I think his later work is much better. Carpet Remnant World Content Provider and his Comedy Vehicle series are works of genius as far as I'm concerned. I'd love to see your reaction to them

Opening with "if we have to explain a joke its not funny" on a Stewart Lee video is a little worrying. If you explain the joke for 10 minutes with a running commentary on how it is being received by different parts of the audience it can be pretty funny.

Yeah, Stew likes brick jokes and dragging jokes on far longer than is appropriate. That makes clips far less funny than the full performance in context.

Never heard of the guy and not impressed with him either.
