I loved Herman's Hermits back in the day. I was lucky enough to grow up in the Sixties - We had the best music. It's really nice to see Peter Noone still enjoying himself and bringing people pleasure. Thanks, Mark!
Peter Noon's voice is even BETER than it ever was. So unusual for his age. Even Paul McCartney and others no longer have the pipes they did in their younger days. Plus he is humble. Thank you, Mark. I really enjoyed this.
This brought back a forgotten memory of seeing Hermans Hermits live on stage at the Orrell Park Park Ballroom Liverpool in 1964. They had by then had had a hit with "I'm into something good". Back then I thought Peter was Herman. I'm into something good
MARK - What a class act! Now aged 67, Peter No-one was one of my favourite stars, and "There's a kind of hush" now brings tears from blessed memories of childhood. Thank you so much! And bless you Peter for still being here!
Wow! Seeing the British flag in the background of the live performance brings tears to my eyes as the BREXIT Party is about to bring England back to it's independent roots next week in the EU elections. It's like falling in love all over again!
Tears in a lot of Americans' eyes too. Cheers to our brothers and sisters in the UK. May you shake off the shackles of the EU and free yourselves from the slimy tentacles of Soros.
I loved that song when it came out. I was 8 years old, and it was positive and upbeat. It made me feel good, and all is well in the world. I hope the world goes back to making songs like that.
I saw Herman's Hermits at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D C in 1967. I was twelve years old and it was my very first concert. I have every American album of theirs still. I saw Peter again in the 1980's in Virginia in concert along with The Monkees. He sounds wonderful still, and I loved this show. I am still smiling as I type this! Thanks so much for such happy memories.
You usually bring tears to my eyes from laughter Mark. It's tears from nostalgia because of a beautiful song from which we all have our specific memory of love. Mine was puppy love at 11 years old.
Spring Branch, Texas then, I was at a pool to take my first swimming lesson and heard this song, thought it was cool. Found out it was Hermans Hermits, I'm Henry the Eighth I am.. Had to digest the line, "never was a Willie or a Sam". I came to conclusion it was an incredible song. I sang the lines for years.
What an absolutely beautiful moment. It always amazes me when older gentlemen can still sing songs they sang when they were boys and sound great. Thanks!
Wow! That bought back some memories. I was not quite a teenager when that came out. Seeing this interview actually gave me a different take on Herman’s Hermits as a professional band, not just a pop group. As Petr Noone says, in the beginning, they played the Cavern Club and I figure they were up there with Gerry and the Pacemakers, Freddie and the Dreamers and so on. Micky Most was also quite a guy back then. True what he says about kids back then living through music like his sister who never spoke to anyone having all these romantic songs speaking for her. Kids back then paid more attention to pop songs than school education. They did not know much about history but they knew all the lyrics to 'Kind of Hush.' As to Hermans Hermits evolving as a band, If you watch the clip on RU-vid from 'No Milk Today' 1966 on Hessen Rundfunk German TV, you can clearly see how they sharpened up their act in just one year. Takes a lot to get me all verklempt, but that really did it. Beautiful classic from a band I couldn't get enough of as a teen. Peter Noone, keep on smiling and keep on singing. God bless you brother.
Love Love Love this ❤️ sooo much 😂 Hubby and I graduated high school early 60s, celebrated our 56th anniversary last November. We had the best music ever... it's still the best music ever 😍. Thank you so much!
Tears in my eyes and prickles up my spine just there. Thanks Mark i could have listened to you talking to this fantastic little man for another hour and a half!
Mr Noone, I was your biggest fan. Had every one of your albums, listened to them day and night. Went to your movies, and finally, as a thirteen-year-old girl, got my parents to let me buy a concert ticket and attend with a number of friends. Then I dreamt about you for the rest of the decade. And hey, I'm not even ashamed to admit how much I adored you, because you were an exemplary young fellow for me to have your pictures all over my walls. Thank you.
I loved all the Hermits' material ... just neat song, neat hit, one after the other. This guy is just so down-to-earth and humble ... Great song!!! Great job!! Loved that!! This guy is what happens when you don't live the typical "rock star" life of alky and drugs. God bless HIM.
theres a kind of hush is one of my top 10 songs love to sing it dam he still has the pipes to sing with a crisp clear voice got goose bumps on this one thanks herman
Peter might remember back in 1980 when a little college station, WFCS, did a 'No Milk Today' marathon. I was part of it, and he called into the station for an interview while I was doing one of my on air shifts. He was very nice! We thought we had really hit the big time!
Peter Noone, and his buds were close connected, AND, ruled the airwaves for over a decade. Brittney Spears fame was nothing in comparison. Look how he held up , , , and is STILL HOLDING. God bless you Peter.
I saw Herman and the Hermits at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA along with the Turtles and some other bands. It cost $8 for tickets. My one and only big concert. Only small venues after that, ha!
Wonderful! Love Peter Noone, great seeing Billy Sullivan, Vance Brescia, and taped shots of drummer Dave Ferrara and keyboard expert Rich Spina on this episode!
I remember seeing Hermans Hermits at Kool Deadwood Nights in 2008 and Bay City Rollers, , and eating at Kevin Costner's restaurant Jakes, really enjoyed the evening.
OMG .... there's a kind of a hush all over the world ..... for me. I've not heard that song in years, and to happen on it while the very Peter Noone is presenting it on your show was quite a treat ..... quite a treat. Many of the other songs you two bandy about were also some of my favorites at the time .... Winchester Cathedral being one. Take care.
Great to see Peter on your show Mark. I have a question for him; why do I look like you’re dad, when you’re four years older than me? 😲 !! Thanks for the memories, reminded me of when England was a much happier place. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great work Mark getting Peter Noone on the set. Nostalgia - amazing. It was the days of "pre-junk" bands. I was a "techno-geek" in those days packing around a newly released cassette recorder in the mid-60s and this was one song on it. Simple lyrics that the Herman's Hermits were so good at. I and many of our generation can still sing along. ONE TAKE. Thanks Mark for capturing this!
WOW!!! Fox is Missing Out, not letting you do your thing there. So many Memories, Choked me up! I think a lot of this era could sell.today, done right. Hey....how 'bout this? Does...your...bubble gum lose its flavor on the bed post overnight
Fun interview! I fell for Herman's Hermits when I was a teen in the 70s, haunted thrift shops for their albums & listened to them every day. Great songs! Peter is still a cutie!
Mark Steyn singing along with Herman's Hermits! There was a kind of a hush, who would've thought it? Good back up pipes though. Love the 60's music era.
Oh Mark! Thank you for having Peter on! I specifically Remember at age 11 waiting to end my duty watching six siblings to ride my bike to record store and buy this 45! Love Herman’s Hermits and so many wonderful wonderful memories! Looking forward to broadway musical!!!!!! This made my week!! ❤️
My first album was Herman's Hermits Greatest Hits in about 1965. I was age 7 and a big fan. Loved this song then and also Karen Carpenter's later version. It remains a favorite and Peter's delivery is still tops!
I had never seen what VANCE and BILLY do during the LA LA section in there's a kind of hush Thank you Mark ....we are all fans of your work and good taste
