My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. ru-vid.comUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

One thing I like to do that helps in removing spark plug boots is to squeeze a small amount of dielectric grease in the boot it helps keep the boot from sticking to the insulator and helps to remove it after use. Just a little tip. Thanks for the great vids!!

That's a great tip, dielectric grease is such a handy thing. It works for so many things like spark plug boots. I use it for so many fixes. I even repaired some quick disconnect audio snakes a while back with it

Die electric grease isn't conductive. You're actually blocking electric current when you use it.

@@dylanneal6363 you only put it on the rubber of the boot in small amounts, not gooped all over the mechanical conductive components like the top of the spark plug. Even if you did do that it's not really going to be a huge issue. Everything within reason

I use it on all electronics, you see it on CPU connections my old boss @ a marine service co. told me to take it home or get fired! It would ruin his repeat business as I was a marine motorsports tech. school trained.

As I get older (80) my short term memory decided to retire too, so I always take a picture of each disassembly step, it reduces time spent looking at a parts list. Carburetor fuel hoses have tripped me up more than once. Bre, I always learn something from your videos.

DIELECTRIC GREASE! I always use it and it prevents corrosion, makes the connection water resistant and prevents the rubber boot from sticking to the plug.

Great video, my BR600 backpack blower had a real bad oil leak where the bottom of the crankcase seals and also one of the oil seals was leaking so I had to re-seal the engine block and installed 2 new oil seals and she runs like a champ now! Probably needed re-sealed because I bought it used at a steal from a lawn care service because it needed work so it was used commercially so it's probably got some hours on it. Keep up the awesome videos!

I wish i would've seen this video before repairing my plug wire. I did exactly what you said, I wrapped the cord on the metal piece but it left a bulge that broke through the boot. One day while running it all sweaty, my elbow came in contact with the broken boot while it was on😂, I got a taste of Ole Sparky through my whole body. Needless to say I sent it in for a new boot and a tune up and she is running like a champ. 20 years with my Stihl weedeater and she is as strong as the day I purchased her. I haven't adjusted any valves though, might be a good future video for you.

I just purchased a Stihl 800 Side pull today because of you, my Yard is not that big😂😅, I'm going to love it with all my heart! I did exactly this repair on my weedeater, I kept getting electrocuted when it rained, so I took her in and had her redone completely. New everything.😅 No more shocks, I love watching your videos! Big fan, Branson in Miami! Are those Stihl tools, I'm kind of a Stihl fanatic, not sure why! I wear a uniform to work. My Stihl wouldn't run with that fuel either.

Thanks for the reminder. I bought a couple pieces of new equipment this year, and I need to put some dielectric grease into the plug boots to help keep them from getting stuck. I bought an Echo tiller and an echo backpack blower. Both are great machines. My only complaint is that the air filter is no good on the tiller. Lots of dirt gets past it because the housing design doesn't allow the edges of the filter element to seal up properly.

Alaska Homesteader here... I enjoy watching your videos. I also confirm your opinion about fuel testing using two individual Stihl 260 PRO chainsaws. I noticed a significant decrease in power when using True Fuels (Lowes). I now only use Stihl or Husquarrva premix or mix my own. After cutting 8 cords of firewood this fall - both saws running strong.

Great video Bree, I’ve also seen this happen many times, another thing I’ve seen is when putting orange cover on one of the three spacer washers under the recoil will get magnetized and fall out of cover and stick to flywheel, which will usually ruin the flywheel and sometimes coil. I worked for a landscape company on their small engines and we had around forty backpack blowers in fleet.

Good to know about that spark plug boot. The mower that I bought a couple seasons ago, has a boot that I have not taken off yet, as it doesn't come off as easily as they use to, and the manual included with it is little help. Just glad that I resisted the urge to use brute strength and tug it. This video shows me how to take it off properly.

Not sure if that coil is one but some Stihl coils actually allow you to replace the spark plug wire by unscrewing it from the coil. It requires a special diameter wire and it has a brass stud threaded much like a wood screw sticking up inside the coil terminal onto which you simply screw the new wire. If you now consider that old coil junk you might want to try to unscrew the wire to see if that coil works that way.

I have the BR600 Magnum model and it's way oversized for my property (now). You can actually feel the engine torquing on your back while reving up. I can only imagine what these 700 and 800 Magnum models can do now!

I have many Stihl tools, like everything else they aren’t made like the old ones. I have a BR320 that keeps running bought back in the 90’s. Put on a new carb in 2015, as it was all gummed up from ethanol. Have run Trufuel ever since in all my 2cycle equipment. Have not had an issue with it.

I have the BR600. I was not aware of any valve adjustment. Will have to look in to that. I've done normal tune upp stuff with the plug, filters, and cleaning the exhaust screen. Very impressed with Stihl. Thanks for the great content

Sure looked like a 2-cycle head and cylinder to me. Tried to look it up and am confused about the 4-mix engine description of possibly being 4-cycle using 2-cycle oil.

@@jamesrichardson559 I fly RC planes, and there are 4 cycle engines that use oil mix fuel, but it has to be 20-25:1 ratio, those small engines don't have an oil pump or sump so you have to mix the gas. The mechanical valve train requires the high oil to gas ratio, however the engine in that blower looks like a 2 cycle engine which typically has non adjustable reed valves, so not sure about the Stihl.

@@parrishpatterson6780 My son has RC planes and cars. With lawn equipment the government is pushing emission control. The advantage of a 4 stroke that required a 50:1 gas oil mixture over a 50:1 2 stroke engine would seem small. Somewhat better combustion and no blow through the exhaust port I guess. I would take the 2 stroke hands down. Twenty years ago when Lawn Boy phased out 2 stroke engines I purchased 2 new in box silver series mowers on clearance. They are still in the boxes. One of the most durable mower engines made. Have a 30 year old one that I still use. I will pass the new Lawn Boys on to my sons.

This is a 4 mix. It is a 4-stroke that uses pre-mix instead of a crankcase with oil. Valves need to be adjusted to .006" intake and exhaust.

I've lengthened a coil lead before by cutting the head off a self tapper and using it to screw the 2 leads together. I sealed it with rtv sealant and covered it with shrink sleeving. It's a bit "Mcgyver" and probably not suitable for a customer but at £150 for a replacement I'd do it on one of my own machines. The hedgetrimmer I did this repair to is still going strong more than 10 years later!

I had to watch your video on marine 2 cycle oil. Changed my mind when I watched your video. I'm gonna use marine 2 cycle oil from now on. The comment by an oil engineer changed my mind. Only differences is the ash content in 2 cycle air cooled engine oil. Cheers from eastern TN

I debated on canned fuel, but I just feel safer mixing my own. I shy away from ethanol and also mix in toluene for octane. Using echo red armor religiously. Runs great.

I got a br600 given to I from a customer since the costumer did not want to fix it, needed cam gear push rods and rocker arms also put new fuel lines on it and fan nut broke when removing it flywheel was shared as well, I spent 280.00 Canadian and repaired it for home use started first pull after sitting all summer

Wow you are very generous. Currently a 150 British pounds is equal to179.00 in US dollar. You should have charged them half (89.50) instead of $40. They still would have been happy with the savings. Poor Corvette Brean, sorry to hear of your troubles, along with the spark plug cap .I can only think they make them like this to stop them EVER coming off 😊. I use a trace of Dow Corning MS4 silicon compound on my plug insulator to stop the cap sticking to the insulator and its worked for me OK. If they ever make a Corvette in RHD, .....😊 .

Those canned fuels are so expensive...I go to the local small airport and by AvGas (Lead and no ethanol) for my older equipment and MoGas (unleaded and no ethanol) for newer equipment. As always, great content C

You seldom break anything on the oldies. I got an old Tiller running last year, a 69 model. It smoked bad, but I'm gonna build it if it's buildable. I like old stuff. I used to fix and sell mowers when I was 12. Points, Condenser, plug, oil, and paint the frames with Automotive paint. I sold many. $45 no trade, $40 with a trade. Next week, it was out for sale. Whatever paint the part store had cheap, from a bad mix, is the weeks color. Green one week, orange the next. A new mower was $200+ then. That was a lot of money in 1976. So $40 was much better. Saw a guy at a funeral a few years back. He asked me if I was the kid d that sold lawnmowers. He was a customer. Said it lasted him for 20 years.

I don’t know about that tru fuel never used it. Always just mixed my own, can’t get no ethanol in my area ( metro Detroit) . I use premium and Marine grade two cycle oil, a splash of Startron enzyme fuel treatment. I never keep fuel over a year. I’ll pour it into my Jeep and get new when it’s a year old
