Better line, lower center of gravity. This was one of the most impressive displays of descending I've ever seen.

Me who doesn’t race bicycles: “It looks like he did it by passing him.”

The weight of his iron balls gave him all the momentum he needed

Meh....a bicycle racing pass. BFD. I saw Eddie Lawson late break deep into the apex of turn 2 at the Laguna Seca Moto GP in 1988. There were 2 riders ahead of him and to the outside of the corner. He braked, stuffed the corner deep, then cracked the throttle until both tires slipped and "flat tracked" it to the corner exit. He passed both riders, despite him entering the corner AFTER them. He was laying down a black stripe with both of his tires. Controlled insanity.

Tom Pidcock's legendary descent. Masterclass. So was the final climb on Alpe d'Huez. Like he was born for that day and those unforgettable moments.

He simply carried more speed into the turn and had balls to lean more into the turn than the other rider....

Drafting and an immense trust in how much grip he had.
@Robcobes
After seeing people crash on corners like these often enough you start to appreciate the skill involved in this overtake on the outside corner.

Incredible skill on his bike. The position he took on the decent by getting low and drafting behind the others slipstream. The control to pass on the outside on a steep drop off. That is why these riders in the bike tours are top professionals. Amazing to watch him pull off this pass. 💪🏻🙏🏻✨
