Great Video! I am contemplating buying the hardware recommended in your description. However, I was just about to press the “buy” button and a question came to mind. The cartridge and filter configurations in the video look different from what you are recommending in the links. That’s not a problem but just curious what’s the pressure drop rating of the filter you are using in the video? The filter you recommended from Amazon is rated to 3 GPM. The average residential household water flow rate is 6-12 GPM at the source.

We have an in-line sediment filter (String wound) on our line which does a great job with the sentiment catchment but we want to be able to filter the (fart smell) out and have tried a carbon filter in place of the string wound and water pressure dropped after about two days to about 10-psi -- suggestions?

Great video! I have fart water and high iron I am assuming by the orange staining in sinks and toilet bowl, will this same filter work for that? Also I have an outdoor well. Do you think this would hold up outside in the elements in Florida or should I create a small pump house?

You also might want to shock your well periodically. The CDC recommends to do it twice a year, which is usually what I do. It helps a lot.

We used to use these filters at out old house, and I always had the same problem unscrewing the cover like you did. I just wonder if their isn't something you could put on them plastic threads so it wouldn't get stuck on there every time you went to change the filter. I know it would have to be somethin that wouldn't pollute your water or anything like that. And you'd have to make sure it didn't damage the plastic or the rubber seal. Maybe some bacon grease or honey or somethin.

Question for you, this well water system in my basement has a water softener system on it. Do you think this filter should go on after the softener or before straight up from the well? I wish you would have told us you checked the cold and hot water for smell. I live in a city that has 5 wells and we have been here for over 30 years so I have experience with our water. For the past 6 years I have been using a Magnesium Sacrificial Anode with no problems. My cold water does not smell only the hot. So my guess is the water supply has changed and is affecting the Magnesium Anode causing the smell. I don't like Aluminum Anode Rods because Aluminum is toxic to our bodies but it does not react to Hydrogen Sulfide. So if your Cold and Hot water smell I agree with your Carbon Filter (Thanks for the tip). But if only your hot water smells it could be a Anode Rod made of Magnesium or a mixture of Aluminum & Magnesium.

I have a shallow (12') i installed in an offgrid Florida property. I currently pump with a simple manual bilge pump. The water is clear but smells of sulfur. I'm not drinking the water, but have bathed and washed clothing with it. Its clear and does not irritated my skin or eyes in 6 months so I presume to be safe. No houses around. I only have 12v power on site. I have a custom10 gallon tank (4" sealed and pressurized PVC tube) I want to fill with a transfer pump. Because the tank will get very hot from the sun and will be pressurized to 20psi, do you think either of these might help with the sulfur smell?

I add hydrogen peroxide to my filter housing to help sanitize my pipes. Just be sure to by pass your water softener to fill your pipes and water heater with hydrogen peroxide mix. Let sit over night.

We have water stinks like dog feces. We have an aerator plus a bleach system and it still stinks. What else can we do???

Take the zink rod out of the water heater and problem solved,when zink and sulfur are combined and heated it creates the gas that smells like rotten eggs

That smell is caused by the anode rod in your hot water heater. You can remove the rod, labor intensive sometimes, or treat the water heater with hydrogen peroxide.

I work on alot of city water. Been getting a ton of calls for fart water. Like wtf.

Im pretty sure the rotten egg smell is never fixed by installing a carbon filter, normally a oxygenated filter system or a electric anode on the hot water tank fixes the problem, also chorine and ozone have been used. Also the filter in the crawl space is a point of use filter not a whole house filter. Are you a water treatment certified.

Who the hell puts a water filter under the house? You must live in a warm climate. Wouldn't work here in Northern New Hampshire.
