Anna, I so enjoy listening to your flosstube. I was born and raised in Woodburn, Oregon but live in Kansas City, Mo now. Your stories and pictures make my soul stir with memories and feelings for “ home”. My oldest daughter and family moved back to Salem and now. I have a reason to travel back. I will be coming in for the Sisters Quilt show next week …my daughter is showing two of her original designed quilts! You will see that she loves stars! I used to stitch two-handed in all needlework endeavors and was able to accomplish so much more. Now I have Essential Tremor in my left hand and have embraced the slow stitch movement. It’s just as satisfying and while I don’t accomplish as many projects, at almost 70 years old, I no longer have the wall space for a multitude of framed pieces. Happy July 4th, Anna!

My favorite way to stitch is to roll my fabric and put a small clip for fabric at each end and stitch in hand. My designated stitch is done while I sit in bed. Your a rock star in the stitching world. When I'm having a rough day I visit with my mom and tell her today I choose joy. My husband starts chemo and radation monday so I'm going to need all the joy. We are going to get a Yorkie puppy Saturday so that will be fun. I don't do Christmas in July. My birthday July 14th. I like the O Tanananbaum. Your garden is beautiful ❤. Love ya

I am planning to do the Star of Wonder quilt-still deciding on fabrics. I use the Elan frames, both lap and floor, exclusively and work two-handed. It hurts my hand to hold a hoop. Great video, as always.

Your garden seems so peaceful - love the sound of the waterfall. I would do the Christmas project that fits in the wooden box since you already have it, and it takes more room to store it! I’m sure it will be a STAR in your holiday decorating.

You are my star and have really encouraged me in my cross stitching. I have only been at it for just over a year. I also started my first Mill Hill ornament, I had to watch a video first. Oh well that’s how I learn.

I like Christmas in July because that's when I stitch my grandchildren's annual ornaments and look at what else I want to start for summer stitching. star

So glad that you found a way which works well for you with your Lowry stand. You are so correct about tools not working the same for everyone and every circumstance. The Paris piece will be like a mini postcard! Oh my stars! You cracked me up about the peacock pin cushion :)! My favorite fabric is 36 count linen and yes, it does help with the size sometimes :). I have been doing two handed stitching for decades. Of course practice will help, but I also suggest, if you aren't already, putting your dominant hand on the bottom and un-dominant hand on top. Since you are more used to finely controlling your dominant hand, it is easier if it is hidden than if your non-dominant hand is hidden. Watching you stitch, I also suggest tightening the fabric. You don't have to be able to bounce a dime, but having it taunt seems to help me with coming up from the bottom side. I do not usually purposefully do Christmas in July but I do randomly work on Christmas ornaments or gifts when I'm in the mood (ha ha!). I am more pulled to the box of little Christmas smalls - mostly because I would enjoy celebrating each finish and maybe you would even finish the one you have begun. The Quaker one seems more like some time as a dedicated stitch would be needed - and maybe not until it's finished, give it a month at a time - it's so large and daunting! I’m participating in Christmas in July for the first time; FQS Star of (my first SAL!), the Primrose Cottage Stitches 2024 Snowman and a Winter Sampler. My vote is for Brenda Gervais. I love your book of days and all of your "stars". I do two-handed stitching. It comes more naturally than the other option and a whole lot faster. I found that it didn't take all that long to get used to..........no learning curve. I vote for Brenda's piece!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL garden. I'd be plunking a chair right out next to that babbling water feature with a good book or some hand work and a cuppa tea and not want to leave till the first snowflake showed up. Your gardens & water feature are lovely. What kind of roses do you have? Well each of my grandchildren is a star to me. My youngest grandson is almost a firecracker having been born on July 3rd. He is stationed in Japan serving in the Marines!

I have been your fan before you even started your quilt videos. For your stitching, I think the Brenda Gervais piece would be best. The fabric is smaller (if you’re thinking of your week being when you are at Quilters Affair) and the Quakers seem like they would require more brain concentration. Good luck with your decision.

I enjoy two handed stitching if I can get the project propped up properly. I prefer to sit on my sofa with ottoman so most stands don’t work for me. I need to find the perfect lap stand in my budget. I’d like to find one I can afford but not so far. I stitch on whatever I want every day so whichever that one is is the star of the day!

I think the star of your Christmas WIPS is the Christmas Quaker. I’m stitching the Schoolhouse Quaker from Stone Street Stitchworks. Those motifs are no joke! I enjoy two handed stitching when using my Elan stand. I mostly stitch in hand unless it’s a fabric I need on scroll rods. Happy 4th of July and enjoy your time in Sisters.

I love my Rollaframe scroll rods on my Lowry stand. I took to stitching with two hand easily. I do have my linen much tighter than you do I also use the magnetic rubber band things on the sides of the fabric too. It makes stitching much easier. To the best of knowledge so the story goes… historically July was always the slowest month in the sewing industry. It didn’t take much brain power to realize that if you started your Christmas projects in July they just might be done in time for Christmas. So most stores promote Christmas in July special events and sales to attract customers into the stores to learn new things, see new things and of course it increases income.

I like your longer videos, gives me more time to sit and stitch. I have started the Star of Wonder cross stitch but have picked out fabric for the quilt. You made me laugh with the projector story, sounds like something I would do. Your yard is absolutely beautiful, thanks for the tour. Happy 4th of July everyone!

I haven’t decided if I’m going to do the Star Christmas design yet. I love the thread colors. But, it looks like it might be like the barn star designs and I’m not really a fan. Too repetitive. I’ll decide when more is revealed. I don’t usually think of Christmas in July, but I did start a Christmas stitch after watching you. lol. Enjoy Sisters! ❤
