Absolutely! How about that '83 Malibu wagon with a 305 running 11.99!! Stock class drag racing is what's up. I don't even watch the pro classes anymore.
cars all sound the same. they leave the same. they buy the same parts. and it's the same way in the import world. anyone old enough can watch this and see knowledge being lost. most of these guys are just yanking the wheels up with slicks, and a stiff clutch
I didn't know pontiac 400's and 350 chevys used the same parts. :P. I know what you are saying. oh how much drag racing has changed. pro stock going to fuel injection was the stupidest thing i ever heard. just about as stupid as getting rid of pontiac
***** go take a look around. they buy the same suspension, same tires, same setup. and few guys can make a car run without turbo, nitrous, and someone to tune it on a dyno. and look at the times they're turning, and the amount, or level of equipment they use to accomplish it. with big, giant funny car type slicks. a pro built big block stroker crate engine, trans brake. the cars are totally gutted. meaning no interior. no inner fenders. carbon fiber panels. pro built transmissions, and rear ends. then with all that most of them aren't turning the kind of times they SHOULD BE. here's an example of what I mean by knowledge being lost, and these high dollar cars not being as fast as they should, or could be. in my pictures on my channel, you'll find the full picture of a 69 dodge dart gts that my dad and I built in the early 80's. it was a TRUE daily driver. full interior, full, stock body. and plain ol' everyday street tires(radials) it had a little 340, cast iron engine/heads. the only aluminum part was the intake. we didn't even have hei ignition, it was a dual point ignition. the first engine made approximately 585 hp on pump gas. the second one made well over 600hp. just as it sat in the picture it turned 10'3@131 mph. stock suspension, no nitrous. it didn't even have a scoop to feed the two carbs. in the pic, it only had one carb, we eventually put on a dual 4 offenhauser intake, with two carter avs. it had gained the name "slingshot", their words, not mine. knowledge IS being lost and you see it all the time
