I'm not even military and stolen valor still piss me off

The moment a Marine says "Huh?" When you say "Semper Fi" to them automatically makes me conclude they are likely an imposter.

Strange stuff. I was in the Air Force some 50 years ago. Never expected anyone to praise me for it and never knew anyone who would elect to wear a uniform while out shopping.

I've been adjudicated 100%for PTSD going on 28 years the VA helped not only me but helped pay for my childrens college education. The VA is always eager to help a "real veteran"

I had an uncle that was absolutely 100% USMC and deployed to Vietnam. He was forever an alcoholic and suffered from mental illness/PTSD. 100% of the time I saw him he was wearing a white t shirt with his cigarettes rolled into the sleeves and wearing his dog tags. He was at a bar one time talking sit about his time in Vietnam and some guys called him out as a non GI stolen valor. They end up beating him a bit, dragging him out, taking his tags. Screaming stolen valor at him. He tells that story so broken hearted. The one brotherhood he still believed in, betrayed him, in the name of some stolen valor macho bullsit. People need to be careful with this stolen valor trend. Sure, there's a lot of bad actors out there. But there's a lot of mental illness, addiction, etc. Even if they never were military, their mental illness is often their reality. Count yourself lucky not to suffer from mental illness.

I'm 66 years old and our combat involvement ended the year I graduated high school. No way this panhandler is old enough to be a Vietnam war pow.

Greatest moment of my life was meeting a 40 year old D-Day veteran last week.

Quick tip: Veterans don’t brag about their service. My great grandfather fought in the battle of the bulge and his position got hit by a german rail gun. Never talked about it. Turns out, after reading the battlefield report, he was a hero and was awarded the purple heart. Loved you grandpa. My dad was a Vietnam vet. Served from 1969-1971. He does not talk about his service to everyone. He will wear his hat, but won't wear his uniform or medals. Injured in combat, wears shrapnel scar on back to this day

I’m a veteran and I’m currently homeless. The va through the ssvf has been taking good care of me. Sends me food once a week and has me staying at a local motel 6. If you know of a vet that is facing homelessness have them contact the local va and they will get you settled, help you find a job and your local vfw will provide you with a free car. Lots of services out there for veterans.

Have a good friend who did 2 tours in Vietnam, 2 purplenhearts. Have known him for going on 20 years and he hardly talks about his service. Only know about his 2 purple hearts because he asked me to get him a pen out of his writing desk and the boxes were in there. He is a proud vet, but man...takes alot to get him to talk about his tours, total respect for those who served.

Almost every stolen valor is a mental health issue. I'm aware of Veterans that choose the street. I served in Vietnam. Marine Corps. Many of my Brothers came back, not completely whole.

Just showed my dad this video and he is pissed. My father toured Vietnam for 18 months. He served with the brown water navy. Up and down the Mekong. 2 missions a day in a squad of 3 boats. He'll be 79 in August, he is a very proud real vet. "Valor can never be stolen, only earned".

I like the men who actually go out and confront these liars, not watching other people do it.

My uncle served in the army 104th division during WW2. I was always curious about that as a kid. I once asked him about his experiences and he chocked up. You could tell he wanted to forget. After that I never asked him again. I suspect it’s like that for most veterans who saw combat. It’s coming up on 9 years since he passed.

I’ve been a police officer for 22 years. I’ve had to deal with a LOT of bums. I’ve met exactly one who was actually a veteran. He was an MP in the 80’s, peacetime. My favorite fakers were the guy who claimed he was a Vietnam Vet. But was always too drunk to remember I had already arrested him several times and knew he was born in 1965. And only knew enough about the military to say he was in the 1st Cav. When I’d ask which troop and squadron he was in.....huh? And the guy who said, “I was infantry! 11 Bravo.” Great. What unit were you in? Huh? You know, while you were busy being an 11 Bravo which unit were you in? Uh.......13 Bravo. That’s a cannon crew member bro. Which I remember since I was actually in an artillery unit......

Armed forces vets generally don't talk about it in my experience. Not to strangers anyway.

You are spot on regarding VA benefits! Yes it takes a long time, many hoops to go through no doubt about that but wow, it was so worth it!! My father had sustained combat injuries in Korea. Mortar shell exploded near him and he had embedded shrapnel in the neck area that could not be removed because it was near the spine. I navigated the va gauntlet for him. It took two years but va back dated the disability compensation ($4500/mo) from the time of the initial request for benefits. He qualified and received a transport van ($42k) and a state of the art wheelchair ($22k), and he got the best healtcare that I have ever seen! To all combat injured veterans out there in RU-vid land, all I can say is don't give up! Once they make the determination your whole world will change! Thank God for VA!! Thank you for your service!!! Bless your hearts!!!

If someone is really in, you would never be able to tell them to take their uniform off and have them comply.

This first guy isn’t even old enough to have served in Nam, he’s probably in his 50s and just looks older from the Booze.

Every person I had ever known that was in the military and a combatant and was deployed into combat didn't want to talk about it. All of their artifacts from their service were buried and they never went out of their way to brag or inform others. MANY veterans tried the VA and gave up on it. It REALLY helps to be known or to know the right people.

My grandpa went Vietnam and I remember when I came to live with him and grandma the first time. He voluntarily told me what it was like for him to kill the first time he did, and his thoughts on war. That man set standards without verbally doing so he looked at me one day and said "You'd make a great marine" and at his celebration of life when a certain song came on I almost wanted to go to the nearest recruiters office and get paperwork done. I'm trying to get into the army or whoever takes me now. Rest in peace grandpa

I was homeless for 6 months at 23, mainly due to my stubbornness and stupidity. I slept in a sleeping bag every night until I got a job. Never once occurred to me to do something like this lol

My buddies great uncle (Jack Elkins) was a POW in japan during ww2. For two days, he spoke to us for a school project--- about his time as a POW in japan and a little about his time in the Philippines and the hell ship that took him from the Philippines to japan (philippines and the hell ship were really difficult for him to talk about). Two days of laughter, tears, anger, compassion, and resilience. I was a young and dumb high school student but it blew my mind. He had every right to be mad at the world but he was the nicest guy with kindest eyes. One of the best experiences of my life--to have met this man. Sucks that stolen valor exists.

My Father served 22 years in the Army. He did 2 tours in the “Korean Conflict”, and 2 tours in Vietnam Nam. He NEVER talked about it. I was a small child, watching him leave for the second time. He was never the same when he came back. This is a HUGE “slap in the face” to our service members! This kinda stuff would have made dad fighting mad!

I can't wait for these stolen valor guys start rocking Space Force garb. "I fought in the Moon Wars". And yeah, only time I wore my tags was when flying, otherwise they're in my breast pocket or wallet.

After my grandfather came home from World war 2 and spent the rest of his life living nightmares over and over and seeing how my uncle who lost his legs paid with his mobility I could never steal their valor. Thank you to all of the real vets who served!

My friend was one of very rare pow in middle east, saved by special ops guys. We took classes together, great dude, Army. He got up one night and his wife said they could talk in morning. Jimmy got up, blew his brains out. These guys who hustle handouts saying they are vets piss me off. POWs are taken care of by VA .

When I retired from the Army at Ft. Lewis, WA., I was working in the command group at Madigan. I was able to deal with AMVETS which was located in Madigan. I do not know if they are still there but, it sure made it easy. There are so many ways for veterans to help themselves out and any "real" veteran would have the 'drive-on' attitude drilled into them and have the initiative to get off of their ass and do something about it.

The best stolen valour story I got is In high school, I saw a kid in the 10th grade wear his cadet uniform after school on a Tuesday but wear we live you only ever have cadet training on Fridays so something was definitely up. As I walked to the bus stop I notice the kid enters the Liquor store next to the McDonalds and attempts to look like he is of age to buy some beer, somehow it not only worked but he even got a veterans discount. lmao i took a photo of it because i was kinda mad at first but then i realised thats fucking genius

Enlisted into Marines in October - shipping out in MCRD in 3 weeks.

I was a homeless veteran in 2016. I went to a place in Kittaning, PA called Mechling-Shakley Veteran's center. I was going nowhere so I went to the VA Pittsburgh Domiciliary, worked CWT there, and went to the Veterans Place. For the last 3 years I have my own place and Im 100% service connected. If you need help vets its there!!!!

All of these guys are legit...we served together during the Chinese Buffer Wars under General Tso.

I tried the Navy in 1991 and was mediacly discharged due to feet issues. After surgery I tried the Army at Fort Benning in 1993 and still could not serve my country. Mediacly discharged again due to feet. I failed to serve my country and always will thank every service member I meet, because they are doing at what I failed to do. There is no pain greater than taking away someone's dream and living with knowledge that I am a failure. To all who read this and is or has served, thank you for your service and sacrifice. I'm from Chile and have never been to the us but honestly I'm a super lieutenant general of a top secrete navy seal unit who fights of aliens dressed like humans on the mars so I think I deserve respect for that.

I've had two friend's fathers who survived Vietnam. One stepped on some kind of land mine and the shrapnel blinded him and pieces embedded in his face and entire front side of his body. He lived with bluish greyish metal splatter under his skin on his face/neck, still caused nerve pain. He volunteered at a center helping others adjust to life coming home injured. The most incredible humble guy, still had hope and a huge love for life. The other man came home and worked in a steel mill. Broken marriage, functional alcoholic, again an amazing man, but SO broken from the pure HELL of war he survived! How absolutely disrespectful are these frauds! Is "stolen valor" a crime? If not, it most definitely s/b. It's bad enough so many vets don't get the help and attention they need upon returning home. Then, for society to tolerate these f*cks faking service! WRONG! Had a young female try to pull the active duty soldier stunt before. She knew a lot actually but was so disrespectful. Claimed to be a soldier but she was trespassing with other teens in an area in our neighborhood. Just didnt seem right and I think she thought that telling me she was in the Army would get me to leave them alone. When I asked her if she speaks to all NCOs that way she asked what an NCO was. Long story short, turns out her dad was the soldier. Had some words with him and he straightened her out.

The homeless guy was the best one. He never wavered, he just kept adding to his story.

I am a veteran and i was homeless for awhile and I got much help from an agency connected to VA and i owe them a debt of gratitude

I don't remember enough to question these guys. When I left Vietnam 1968 I was met by a friend who advised it would not be a good idea to wear a uniform. So in keeping with that philosophy, I went to work and after 50 years started wearing a Vietnam vet hat. I think it is great to catch these impostors because I don't want the time I spent in the military spat upon.

The ID card he showed is the old Uniformed Service Members Identification Card. (USMIC). This was replaced with the new Common Access Card (CAC). The brown color of the USMIC was used for dependents and 100% disabled veterans. Retires were issued blue and many of us remember the green for active duty and the pinkish red color for guard and reserves.

The VA Helped me a lot after i finshed my Service they even found me job So the VA are very useful

Oh! and by the way there was just a case where some one walked up on an individual thinking he was going to get down on him being a fraud and it turned out bad. The individual had served and suffered from PTSD where he could not let go of his past experiences in the service. Because of the harassment of being called a fake the disabled soldier walked out into traffic and is now paralyzed.

Well for us in GER it’s like you only wear a medal on your Utilities on the day you’re awarded them. But you wouldn’t leave base dressed that way though 😅

10:35 You notice he's wearing full size of the two outer medals, easy to purchase online. The Purple Heart is almost impossible to purchase a full size version. So he has the smaller version meant for Dress Mess uniform, which is more easily found.

My Dad was a basket gunner on a captured German Zeppelin during Desert Storm. He got VD and scar for bravery. Very proud of him!

When you say "he has a purple heart on." My phone was sitting on my dresser while I was putting my shoes on, it sounded like you said" he has a purple hardon." I laughed so hard I was crying.

@8:15 the unit patch is the 15th SOS. My dad flew with this unit for a number of years! He also never once mentions the correct location of that unit.

I ran into a Marine that I had served with at my 2nd duty station. The guy never deployed, he was at Camp Pendleton through his whole enlistment. He was wearing dress blues and was stacked with ribbons, jump wings, scuba bubble, French Forregere, Sgt Chevrons, 2 service stripes, white trousers..he was coming from a wedding. 🤣🤦‍♂️ He's a PX Warrior!

I am a marine vet and was A/C for CH46 and CH53 helicopters. I can tell you I wont ever forget the sound of an A10 that is the sound any marine will remember coming from an aircraft.

9:40 - "San Antonio, lot of Air Force there." Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland is where all enlisted Airmen go for Basic, though there was a second Basic set up in Biloxi during COVID. Several career fields stay at Lackland for tech school (our version of MOS-specific training); a lot of basic pilot training is done out of the San Antonio area as well. I'm pretty sure there's an Officer Training School detachment there too.

When I was 16 I joined the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve Infantry, and while away on my BMQ our platoon CO gave us all weekend leave and we weren't locked down on base. I loved the uniform, and had wanted to join the military since I was little, so I wanted to wear it to show off when some friends and I decided to go to the closest town to the base with a movie theater. Ignoring the advice of my comrades, I wore my olive drab combats in the hopes of gettin' lucky (hey, our Master Corporal told us to "change our oil" over the weekend, I was taking his orders seriously). We'll, it wouldn't be my luck if the platoon 2IC wasn't visiting the same movie theater at the same time. That was almost twenty years ago now, and I can still remember how terrified I was while standing at rigid attention in the lobby of the busy theater, getting a quiet, but "you REALLY fucked up" level of dressing down. Never made that mistake again lol. Your explaining of the rules reminded me of that little gem, thank you.

Actually you can just show up to the VA and ask for help. You will be directed on where to go and what to do. It does take a lot of time and paperwork but eventually you will get some sort of help. That is if you are a legitimate Vet. The VA gets appropriated a ton of money and has a lot of different programs that can be helpful.

The only time I wear my dog tags when I don't need to is when I'm flying, just in case the plane goes down. However, I do try to keep them concealed so I don't get assaulted by anti-military wackos. The irony of the whole situation being that I hate flying and I'm in the Air Force.

I joined in '75. After Vietnam. My DI's were all combat vets. I flew in helos piloted by Vietnam vets. Those pilots rocked. I have been accused of stolen valor. I went thru advanced infantry training in FT. Polk. I was in one of the last classes there before they went to FT Benning. And people said I lied.

I had awards pinned on in ACU's and we wear them until the end of the ceremony.

When I feel down and I think about my life: being poor, Italian, and without a direction. I motivate myself by thing: at least I am not one of those Americans that pretends to be in the military.

My father in law who was born in 1945 wears a flight jacket he got at Walmart or somewhere and it has a bunch of patches including a US Army 82nd Airborne Screaming Eagle patch. Shithead civilians thank him for his service constantly! Absolutely hilarious! This is in Canada to boot.

I’ve been watching your videos for a long time…it’s nice to see some dope wearing aircrew patches with his ribbons on his ACUs/BDUs I assume there was something free at the end of that line. Arm patches are 15 SOS and US Air Force Spec Ops Command.
