I seen journey in the '80s, and they were amazing. I saw them with this guy in 2009 and I couldn't believe my ears. This kid was good. Btw...Neil is the man.
Arnel has such an amazing voice. Until I heard him for myself, I thought there was NO way he would sound this good. We interviewed him for our podcast once and he was such a nice guy.
Great guitar work! But the song itself is best as it was originally written and played, which is what led to its becoming a rock classic. (Not as a guitar solo, no offense.)
Neil IS great ! And he’s an originator ! Said somewhere he was the first to put a Floyd Rose vibrato on a Les Paul. (He coulda been 🤔🤷♀️, idk). I’d heard Neil was kinda tough to work with and maybe took his (considerable & commendable) abilities a bit too seriously. But, I bet he’s mellowed out with age, and his work really is undeniably great. I love this track mainly for its rhythm (the “time out” when the hi-hats are conspicuously shut, y’know ? )
He's a good singer, but without Steve Perry they are nothing but a cover band. They should at least get Gregg Rolie back in the band. I like the way he would sing the low parts of certain songs and then Steve would come in and sing the high parts.
@@BraveHeart2387 I wrote the above comment after listening to my copy of their album Revelation (3-CD version) which I hadn't listened to in years. CD2 on that album, where the band tries to re-create some of their classic hits (in the studio with Arnel on vocals) is AWFUL. Arnel doesn't sound like Perry (sounds a bit weird on certain songs), Neil sounds subpar, the production sucks, and Jon Cains's pianos sound brittle and harsh (and even hurt my ears on Who's Crying Now). Later, I watched CD #3 (DVD) and I also watched a more recent concert with Arnel. After watching those live performances, I was more impressed. Arnel is definitely a very good singer--he has the range and can hit higher notes than Perry can now. However, there are some subtle qualities in Perry's vocals that separate the man from the boy. However, I will admit Arnel is a better frontman than Perry ever was. It's not classic Journey, but maybe the term cover band was a bit unfair. But as far as CD2 in the Revelation set, which prompted my original comment, that sounds like a cover band. In fact, I've heard cover bands sound better than that CD.
Never gets tired on listening to you AP. I'm so addicted to you! Keep it up and proud fan here even in a distance. So much admiration, so in love here! I'll never walked away...faithfully forever your fan and the band♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
What a performance. I love that you can here Ross' bass pounding that bottom while the rest of the band perfectly jams out this iconic hit. Journey forever.
They are amazing, Arnel is a Super Star. He makes the band Journey Alive. I am sinds 4 years a big fan of Journey. The songs and sound of Neals guitar is always in my head.
Imagine playing for a hometown crowd while playing in your ultimate rock band you fantasize about since your youth. True to life rock and roll story! Killer performance!
Those crazy nights, I do remember in my youth I do recall, those were the best times, most of all In the heat with a blue jean girl Burnin' love comes once in a lifetime She found me singing by the rail road track Took me home, we danced by moonlight [Chorus:] Those summer nights are callin', stone in love Can't help myself I'm fallin' stone in love Old dusty roads, led to the river Runnin' slow She pulled me down, and in clover We'd go 'round In the heat with a blue jean girl Burnin' love comes once in a lifetime Oo the memories never fade away Golden girl, I'll keep you forever. [Chorus]
The thing I love about Journey is their ability to sound just like their record when they play live. A lot of bands don’t sound as good live, but Journey sounds as good or better in my opinion!!!!
Neal was the guy I wanted to be as a kid playing street hockey and blasting the new escape album. He's the reason I picked up my first guitar. My parents always wanted to thank Neal personally.

He sounds terrific what is Steve Perry I saw a journey cover band at the casino ballroom in Hampton Beach so much ago they were called voyage and they rock !
There’s a thing called time, and a process called aging. It’s different for singers especially for Steve. He’s over 70, and voice deteriorates as age goes on.
