Several years later: "Hey Mobius 1, have you seen the news? I heard they shot down one of the Arsenal Birds with Stonehenge!" Mobius 1: "(sweats) Well. Thank god, we didn't destroy that eighth gun..."
I love that while being a completely intimidating weapon, it actually saved millions of lives. Looking at weapons like Yuke subs and several Belkan planes - Stonehenge actually did its original job masterfully.
If I recall correctly, it's actually the only Anti-Asteroid weapon that was successfully deployed, deflecting or destroying a majority of the larger Ulysses chunks (though Usea still took the brunt of the damage since it was on the facing side of the planet when the fragments impacted).
@aidanpysher2764: You are *SO* far off it's vomit worthy!! Its "Original job" was shooting down the Ulysses Asteroids. It's Erusia's fault it became a weapon in the freaking war!!!
I'll probably never get to play Ace Combat 7 at this point but LOL yeah Ace Combat 4 was my favorite game ever and to be honest Stonehenge is one of the most craziest realistic and probably most intimidating weapons with probably one of the greatest build-ups and stigmas and overall feel of the series genuinely stonehenge's able to incite Pure fear just At The Mention Of It
@@wallyhuncho2998 this version of Stonehenge is the original and much more deadlier if you're above 2000 ft and it fires the explosions cover the sky and you'll simply get vaporized
It really is insane how far out stuff gets planned in storylines like this. That 8th cannon that was already disabled just sticking up like a sore thumb. I always wondered why it wasn't targeted.
I think the one Stonehenge gun being disabled is just a little detail to make the universe/mission feel a little more realistic, it makes sense that they wouldn't be able to get all of the turrets working, or that one broke down... Obviously in AC7 they could have explained it away by saying that they only had enough time to restore one of the guns, but I do appreciate the consistency, that the gun they fixed happened to be the gun that was out of commission the day ISAF attacked. Little details in the lore and universe is what I love about Ace Combat, and it's how they manage to make the series feel believable - despite the fact that aircraft can hold hundreds of missiles and there are literal flying aircraft carriers. Little stuff that makes you believe that Strangereal is a real place and you're fighting in a real war.
@@trainknut Everything you wrote is what is the literal draw for me to this series. There just aren't many AAA titles that have the effort into storytelling that AC does consistently. It's also why so many of us hated Assault Horizon, besides the DFM. You can suspend your disbelief in strangereal, and even feel emotions, (I teared up when Chopper died and felt panic when Harling died.) There just aren't many games that evoke emotion like AC does.
Okay, but what if its actually unnecessarily big, immobile because its on a goddamn ice and just overall trash because we tried to copy Stonehenge but failed? Good idea, Generals, even Megalith, SOLG and Intolarence could do better
@@skeletonwguitar4383 You do realize that the Chandelier was mobile, right? That iceberg was moving throughout the mission, which automatically takes it to a level of lethality not seen until the Alicorn comes around.
@@skeletonwguitar4383 NO, The ice made it one of the most dangerous weapons in strangereal, why? Because chandelier was MOBILE. That made it Incredibly dangerous because there was technically NO RANGE LIMIT, if estovakia wanted, they can move that thing to osea, or where ever they wanted. And it fired Cruise Missles. Truly a dangerous piece of weaponry
@@Phantom.Gaming64 Isn't Stonehenge actually easier though? I mean staying at low altitude is not exactly hard to do. With the submarines from AC5, you have to go up and down to avoid the ballistic missiles (admittedly more of an annoyance than a threat but still). I did like that they made Stonehenge harder on AC Infinity by having it actually fire at random spots with a huge blast radius.
As an AC7 player It just like I'm taking part in an important historical event Nobody will know that the only one cannon Mobius 1 left behind will save Osea's half ass after several years
It wasn't "left behind", as mentioned by other ace combat media, the turret that survived had actually been hit during the fall of Ulysses and became inoperable.
@@frumpsterfire Yes, shamrock was the best wingman so far, he managed to wipe out everything, thats what I miss in in AC7, I felt fighting alone and all your friends did were just talking unimportant thing
I remember seeing my dad struggle with this mission . Kept getting shot down . I would think “there’s no way I could do that mission” I played Stonehenge Defensive recently . Failed it about 5 times and I must say .. how cool was that ? Ace combat 7 seems a bit more difficult , maybe that’s just me . I took the Su-37 tree route and I dig that plane . Such a cool generational gift . Love this game
I loved the 12th mission of Ace Combat 7 and seeing how it led up to Stonehenge Defensive was cool. Especially since we eventually got to see the pay off of a fired Stonehenge gun, as it slices the Arsenal Bird in two. Rest easy, Railgun Four.
Its also Railgun four Redemption,Her Failure on the Ulysses Disaster it is what led to Both Wars,So she is Helping to end a war that its her fault in the first place
10:57-11:01 I think these are the 4 Yellow pilots you're able to shoot down and kill in mission 15. When you shoot down 4 of them the 5th plane (presumably Yellow 13) leaves the battle area. It feels good to put faces to the Yellow pilots. It's safe to assume they knew the other 15 Yellow members you meet in mission 18. I have never flown in mission 15 to the North West part of the map where the 5 wing formation breaks up: 2 go to the airport, 1 to the government buildings (sky scrapers with the choppers and high way), and another 2 go to the Arch.
I think this is the only mission in AC04 where AA guns are legitimately terrifying on higher difficulties. There's so many in close proximity. Unless you want to cheese the mission and bomb Stonehenge from above 3,000m.
*Yellow 13:* "Pilots are responsible for their planes" *Me:* "Apparently fucking not, considering your wing mate & love interest just died, having failed to replace the damn engine!!!"
It was so good to return to Stonehenge in Skies Unknown and be able to watch just one of the cannons cut an Arsenal Bird in half like it was nothing. However, does anyone remember any of those Stonehenge cannons bitch-slapping them with the barrel if you got to close? It happened more than once on more than one playthrough, and I swear it can't have been coincidental.
This is the Canon way this fight went down I don’t care it’s perfect. Mobius one takes a head on shot at Yellow 13 who maneuvers at the last second dodging the Missile. The Maneuver leaves Yellow 4 vulnerable and separated from her wingman. Mobius one Spots yellow 4 struggling to control her Damaged Aircraft. Latches on and Guns her.
I love how the start of this doesn't play any games. SkyEye gets two lines of dialogue, then the game immediately tells you to hit the deck and get down.
I didn’t pay too close attention to briefing and accidentally brought XAAM’s to this mission 😅. I had to gun most of Stonehenge, and when the Yellows showed up I killed them all instantly with my 4-target lock on. Lmao...
Stonehenge is and always will be the baddest and toughest superweapon. Only Excalibur could maybe take it out, and that would be tough for it to do as it is. It was nice of them to for once use a superweapon to kill a superweapon. Often it's just the pilot being invincible.
Yelü Longxu I would have to disagree. Ultimately, with proper terminal guidance, Stonehenge could take out the SOLG in space. Especially since Stonehenge was built mainly to shoot down asteroids
@@CobaltZ_hans Stonehenge shot downs asteroids within atmosphere. But even if it had such great altitude. SOLG have unlimited range, It can attacks Stonehenge beyond it's range.
People keep noting the symmetry in 4 and 7's Stonehedge missions, I haven't seen this one get posted: This mission is when Erusea starts to take notice of the main character.
It's very weird that in every game theres an enemy squadron that goes toe to toe in your squadron. Eg: AC4 - Mobius vs Yellow Squadron, AC5 - Razgriz/Wardog vs Grabacr/8492 and Ofnir AC0 - Ummm... and AC7 - Mage?/Spare/Strider vs Sol
It does bother me a little that they water down mobius 1's talent a little by saying hes getting these yellow kills due to engine trouble, and for later missions, rookie pilots getting cycled in.
Pilots are responsible for their machines, but squadron leaders are responsible for their pilots. 13 should have never allowed 4 to fly with an obviously broken machine.
If the series ever comes to a close, I want the final installment giving the player a personal squadron of all of the previous titles' player characters. Strider 1, Mobius 1, Galm 1, all of them. Furthermore, crank their AI through the roof. Make them actually competent and deal meaningful damage. If that means Project Aces has to crank the difficulty up across all difficulties, do it.
Georg Gross yes it was sabatoged by an ISAF agent from the inside. Which is why its the only one that is not destroyed from the attack and the one still in use in Acecombat 7
@Justice Clark Maybe in AC7, I was talking about real life ^^ To me it is still useless against experienced pilots. Speed is life, the Cobra just idles your aircraft
I remember several times I got blown up even though I was below 2000 feet. What gives? Are the blasts actually spherical explosions that you can avoid by going above in this mission?
Since they are railguns, if you happen to fly in front of the rail while it is firing, it doesn't matter what altitude you are at. I did that a few times before I realized you have to pay attention to the way the cannons are facing.
@@TFRLIceman It's why firing a missile down the barrel destroys it in one hit. It's the hardest of the three parts of the cannon to hit, constantly moves, and has a chance of instantly killing you.
Hey, did anyone notice the title of the mission? The name is similar to another Stonehenge mission from Ace Combat 7, called Stonehenge Defensive, and both of them are the 12th mission of the campaign.
