I love the fact that as SOON as Rusty hears your name as the liberator who’s mission is to free Rubicon, he IMMEDIATELY answers to the call and arrives to help, almost as if he was hopeful that something like this was going to happen and he was preparing for it.
I mean, he says it himself in the setup fight that Arquebus sent him on: "All that power without purpose makes you dangerous." I get the feeling him and Raven where the first two to notice how much potential 621 had in shaping the future of Rubicon, Rusty's moment being when we outshined everyone in Operation Wallclimb, and Raven beginning to suspect shortly after they began hearing their name popping up in sortie after sortie that they had no part of. The respective duels between both of them cemented our place on the board as a proper wild card, one choice away from changing Rubicon forever.
@@markgallagher1790he calls you buddy either way, even in the fires of raven ending he doesn’t hold a crude for 621 but also that he still has to stop us
Straight up. He IS Him. And we are all just watching his story vicariously. Edit: real talk tho this comment had me rollin. Some CodenameSuper shit right there.
Rusty is proud of his aim and accuracy. When you're fighting the ice worm Rusty proudly says " I won't miss." But when he says "You flew just out of reach." That's his way of admitting he couldn't hit you. 😢
@@spiderpsycho_8887 I'm not lying when I say that Mission gave my Hype I haven't felt since Halo 3. This game was the greatest Fromsoft game I've ever played.
To be fair, they were all on a suicide mission anyways. Their deaths were sealed either way. But if it makes you feel any better, Carla and Chatty wind up respecting your conviction and Walter dies just being proud of you for finding a friend.
@@getschwifty5537 I know. Carla tells us it's good we made a choice, and Walter sees through the conditioning and the likely traumatization from the Fires of Ibis and tells us that we did good making a friend in Ayre.
>Barges in >Acknowledges your talent >Calls you buddy >Stands alongside you >Calls you buddy and trusts you >Doublecross the corpos >Doesn't hold it against you for not siding with the RLF >Hypes you up if you side with him >Has a wolf as symbol Rusty is Litteraly HIM
>Treats you like a legit human being and a friend with no strings attached, despite no reason to. >Had the most righteous and noble goal of any of the good-guy characters. >Uses a melee weapon only he uses and is highly proficient in >Plot-armors his way out of certain defeat >Regardless of what happens, our goals intersect with his wishes >Gets a completely new and unique heroic-looking AC out of nowhere >Bad ending is us crushing his goals >Gets his own theme song and it centers entirely on him >Good ending is his dream of liberating Rubicon with him personally doing it by crushing Arquebus' entire space fleet all on his own off-screen. Rusty is literally the protagonist of AC6. We're just the supporting cast or antagonist for him.
-tells us the truth of operation wallclimber -goes on multiple joint operation with us -uses a lightweight build -a twin blade user - has terminal armor through sheer fucking will -acknowledges us as a human being, the only other 2 I can think of is ayre, and Walter, and Walter can be argued as iffy He is literally him
Commander Michigan also acknowledge us. Also Walter sees us more as his hound, till later he regrets it, be stating "Undo the surgery, be normal again". Sorry Walter, don't think we can ever be normal, not without these scars.
@@Become-Eggplant that was always the plan. Walter was the son of the scientist who created human augmentation and made it his life's goal to undo what his father had done. All the jobs, all the credits, it was all to destroy what coral had done to humanity and make you normal again. Walter always valued you as a person.
I don’t know what is with characters with wolf motifs being the coolest and most likable characters in FromSoftware games, but Rusty joins the likes of Blaidd, Maliketh and Artorias as being an absolute badass, and our best buddy
The only character in this game who acknowledges us as living human being and his buddy. Gonna miss him so much. He's like Solaire and Siegward combined to one character.
"I WON'T STOP, Only I can fly high enough!" Hearing that made me regret everything but also got me super pumped up, a beautiful final Duel with my Best Buddy is all I could've asked for
That mission is probably the best mission to play imo. Wrecking that fleet only to have that final confrontation. A warrior like Rusty deserves a proud and glorious death!
@@NG_v1 It definitely hits harder fighting against Rusty, especially since you're fighting against Rubicon's Last Hope, The and Only Liberator Of Rubicon
Arqubus fleet: "How is a AC this fast!" "There's only one person who's been able to keep up with me" -Rusty Truly the best line rusty ever said especially when it's the good ending
The "I CAN T STOP!" and pulls out a op Version of terminal armor was i think the most epic moment in My Gaming career. 2nd place is the 1st part of the same mission destroying the pca warships, makes me feel lika a gundam
You can literally make Rusty's new AC model a gundam with the right colors and decal edits, called mine Rubic Gundam, the feels I get from that mission alone in that design is pure adrenaline dump
@@dillasoul2228 i m too dumb to work with decals and make actually Red feet and Red parts on the torso so i just made White and blue and very unoriginally called alba gundam(i actually don t know if it or Like sunset gundam exist). For wepons i gave the c oscillator, beam pistol since it looks Like a normal sized beam rifle and 2 Truenos since they look the most fitting. I have also Like 15 different vartiayons with color schemes and wepons fully different and My fav is is beam dagger+dub machinegun and 2 plasma cannon on the back(when folded they look Like wings even more than The 3x beam cannons). What wepons do you use and if you are on console share the id so that i can copy the decals pls
@@NeightrixPrime Voice acting was world class. Frognation never misses. Keep in mind this is the first From Software game dubbed with American accents. Frognation somehow finds the perfect casting, and direction to deliver on these games. It's a shame they didn't use them for Sekiro (since they were working on Elden Ring) but I am so glad to hear them again here.
We actually don't know if Rusty/Steel Haze and Middle Flatwell/TSUBASA died in Alea lacta est. It could be possible that Allmind took care of them, but there is also a chance that they made it out alive, after we have thought them inside the cave. @@HiroyaFujimiya
The first ending I did was liberator of Rubicon, I was literally crying the whole mission since the moment Rusty came to aid us, I love this fucking game so much.
It never happened, but I wish I had the chance to team up with rusty to take down the interceptor fleet on the Xylem. Infinitely zipping around the sky while those lyrics blast harder than the ships you take down, V.II Snail chasing you and Rusty through the air, slicing through his own allied ships to achieve victory over two unruly mutts. Just you, your buddy and the endless sky.
@@Weyland_Punani I meant in the entire galaxy. For the liberator ending we get the sense something wrong happened since Ayre was apologizing and the coral would’ve continued building up. Fires of Raven you delete all organic life on Rubicon and nearby planets saving the galaxy from coral buildup because for the liberator ending the corporations will regroup and come back for the coral and do something dumb with it still condemning many hundreds of millions to death over how many years. Alea Icata Est is a little open of an ending to tell what happens, but it can go two ways: coral learns to coexist with humanity, or in their now limitless forms they exterminate humanity
@@Weyland_Punani looks like someone didn’t 100% the game or understand consequences. Either way I’m not here to argue about which ending is better because none of them are good or bad, they’re all grey and the player chooses an end to their OWN story in this wonderful world created by such an awesome studio
@@arcturus960 uh what? There was nothing in what Ayre said that indicated to anything bad happening. It's just flavor dialogue for you to try the other ending. Walter does the same thing in the Fires of Raven ending.
This is going to sound cheese but playing witb Rusty gives me that hype feeling ive lost growing up. When he flew in from tailing you? Hype. Showing up to help you liberate Rubicon? Hype. I wont miss... I CANT STOP! ONLY I CAN FLY HIGH ENOUGH! God hes such a fucking great character
Fun fact (spoilers): His second AC is called Steel Haze Ortus. The Ortus is the precise moment where the sun is breaking through the horizon during sunrise. It all connects....AC, song, scene, context....
I refuse to believe anyone that says AC6 doesn't have a story. A story they don't like, maybe, but there's quite a story in it. I spent the final missions of each path fighting through the tears as I had to fight everyone I'd grown to like in a world otherwise full of misery, desperately hoping this would be the time it worked out.
This fight broke me…the fight got so intense we just kept going higher…hearing this swell… The ground was gone, the sky the only limit…then only to finally win and watch him plummet…to be told I flew out of reach…
This man right here will forever have my respect as an AC pilot and a human being. If he was in Gundam universe, he would stand up there with the likes of Quantro, Mikazuki, Lockon, Akihiro,... for sheer bromance and friendship.
Rusty is the first character to treasure the player like theyre human and a friend, in the whole universe of the Armored Core franchise. Ive played Silent Line thru Verdict Day, everyone just wants to kill you.
Me and Rusty popping eachother's terminal Armor and using our last heal simultaneously has to be my favorite moment ive had in AC6 by far. Rusty won in the end but i genuinely didnt care. That moment alone was worth it.
Best song in the game, favorite mission in the game when fighting alongside him, as the camera pans to the surface of Rubicon and shows the battle. Goosebumps when Rusty said we inspired them to fight. And when he said only one person can keep up with him... he's just THAT guy. Balteus theme and final boss themes as a close second. Rest in peace, Buddy.
That moment i beat Snail for the last time made feel amazing but . . . . . . . . . . my heart immediately *broke* the moment Rusty suddenly got killed right after, it made the win feel painful and it got worse when they revealed who killed our bro, R.I.P Rusty, he was the realest one o7
Still the best song in the game, hands down.. I listened to a 30 minute version of this today while I studied... I got zero studying done and burned 217 calories 😂😂
Whoever at FromSoft deciding to make Rusty the Hero of the game, and our character the Raven was brilliant. We can either play the hero as well, and fight along side Rusty... Or...
When I played this mission for the first time, the moment Rusty appeared and the fight began, we both straight up assault boosted past each other at the start of the fight and I had some MAD flashbacks to the final phase with Pixy right there on the spot, holy fuck There's absolutely no way that the madlads at From weren't inspired by Pixy in creating our boy Rusty, there's just no way man
Literally my only motivation to get the other endings was because I did not want rusty to die The infinite energy duel with him was so damn cool but I felt so bad for winning
I have never played an armored core game in my life I couldn’t even tell you who the main protagonist is. But man do I love rusty, easily one of the most memorable characters, perhaps besides v2 snail but that’s because he’s an afterclap, v4 rusty is just character done right, memorable, likeable, good guy. 👍 he gets my approval for best companion.
I faced him last night in the burning skies over Rubicon. It really hits hard when he asks what we gave up in order to fight so hard. I think that line is meta in asking whats it worth to light The Fires of Raven. I remember what Walter and Carl said to and did with us. That were carrying on the Mantle but it still feels bitter to face him down atop this marvel of an Ark knowing what will happen. Thats what really makes me believe Fires Of Raven is the bad ending of the lot. And in a way it makes fighting alongside him In the Liberator of Rubicon all the sweeter after all the senseless carnage and destruction. That its a real unambiguously good fight.
I'm currently starting my 4th playthrough and i think about the endings and characters a lot, just tryijg to piece things together in my own way. But really what I think is that there is no "good" ending, each time i beat it I always had a pang of guilt from all the pilots and characters that either I killed or were killed because of my decisions. I guess the matter of which one is the good ending is subjective. And I will always feel empty when I do them. I did not enjoy killing Rusty, Carla, Chatty, Walter, Michigan, even Iguazu a little bit (though it was more like putting down an animal). Hopefully some DLC comes out and we can get more.
Pretty sure the third ending is the closest to a good ending. Rusty is still alive from what I know, Carla and Walter's mechs may have been damaged but their cores looked mostly intact, and you found your freedom.
