In this video, I share the secret to keep your wheels looking brake dust free for a little longer with Hyde's Serum RUSTOPPER wheel and brake anti rust serum. Rustopper effortlessly prevents rust from forming on your brake rotors after cleaning wheels and braking systems. How to use:
After cleaning the wheel and braking system, rinse thoroughly with water.
While brake rotor is still wet, spray Rustopper liberally on the brake rotor surface in a sweeping motion and allow it to dry.
Wipe any excess liquid from the inside of the wheel.

Came here to say this: Atom Mac. However as Brian mentioned it’s not perfect. Only way of ever stopping this it to wash the car, wheels and roll it backwards like 30ft, then forwards and brake hard. Scrapes the water off before it oxidises and keeps the wheel clean for drying. Only fool proof method.

Ya know Brian, you really ought to be an instructor. Your prevention is good, your explanation of details is good and your easy going presence as to how you demonstrate examples, etc. Just something to think about when detailing (hands on) begins to take its toll on the body. Think about,you're that good.✌🏽

Definitely looking into this stuff. Love it after I wash my wife’s car and a day or two later you hear a loud bang from the brake pad coming unstuck from the rotor from sitting a day or two

Brian…great video as always buddy. In my personal experience I’ve only found 2 products that don’t cause this issue. Green star from Koch chemie and brake buster. I’m assuming it’s the anti-corrosive properties in the products. Really does make a difference for me. At least great for maintaining wheels while avoiding this issue almost all together. Just my experience. I’m sure there’s other products that do this as well. I believe bilt hamber surfex is the same way. I tend to lean more towards these products for wheels for that reason alone.

We have it in the US now too. I’ve been using Hyde’s for years. Been testing Atom Mac against it for months now. I’m using it at 5%, spray on at beginning of wash and then again after cleaning wheels. It hasn’t worked nearly as well for me as one application of Hyde’s after washing the wheels. I was really hoping it would be better since it cheaper.

Makes sense. But one must assume the inside face of the rotor never gets wet from washing? Or, the rust that develops from the inside face is insignificant? The inside ring and the "hat" on most rotors need to be painted, IMHO. I do mine in gloss black. Tedious, yes...but keeps that portion from rusting.

Not much you can do about the inside face when it’s blocked by a dust shield. It definitely doesn’t get as wet as spraying the hose directly on the outside face though. Spraying Hyde’s on the only one side cuts down the rust by at least 50%. Been using it for years now and have no rust dust on my clean rims any more. I get performance cross drilled aftermarket rotors that come fully coated, no painting necessary. They are still cheaper than OEM, perform much better and don’t rust.

I've found you have to apply it multiple times during the wash to keep the flash rust at bay - especially so with drilled rotors. I apply before the wash begins. Then after the first rinse. Then I clean the wheels with wheel cleaner/soap. Then rinse. Then re-apply again. (repeat for each wheel). Then wash the actual car. Rinse entire car. Re-apply one last time. Then blow dry. So that's 5 applications. I've found just 1 application doesn't cut it - yes it reduces SOME flash rust but you still get some and it still leaves brown dust. If you want to reduce the flash rust by 95% you need multiple applications essentially after each rinse.

brake buster cleans fairly well, and has a built in corrosion inhibitor. no need for an extra product.

For those wondering how it compares to Atom Mac. I’ve been using Hyde’s for years and been comparing the two against each other for months now since we can now get it in the US. I also added some AM to my Brake Buster which supposedly already has corrosion inhibitors. I’m using AM at the strongest 5% dilution, spray on at beginning of wash and then again after cleaning wheels. I then thoroughly dry my wheels and rotors in the garage immediately with the blower after the wash. Unfortunately AM hasn’t worked nearly as well for me as one application of Hyde’s after washing the wheels. I was really hoping it would be better since it cheaper, but so far it’s not.

So Brian on those slotted rotors on the Lamborghini. How do you remove that rust staining? Is the only way to remove the wheel? Is a wheel cleaner or APC the product? I’ve got a lot on my fronts on both my cars😩

After you clean the wheels, you still have to rinse the cleaner off. Then, while it's still wet, you spray on the Hydes serum, correct?

Hey Brian, I tried this product before but I didn't like it. Usually we wash the wheels before we wash the car. This product only works if you spray it right after you wash each wheel. The problem is if you do that, when you wash the car, the rotors will get wet again (unless you are very careful when using the foam cannon and pressure washer). If you spray it after the car wash, the rotors are already rusting.

After you washed the wheels have you tried using wheel covers? Obviously this helps in preventing water or moisture from being reintroduced back onto the rotors.

The rust formed on each rotor after a wash is a actually an insignificant amount of rust. Product probably was not applied properly

Atom Mac has not performed as well for me in direct comparisons. And that’s with two applications per wash of A M vs one of Hyde’s. I was hoping it would be better.
