Thanks for this tip. I have a base for my diorama that's made of styrofoam and my Mythic Legions figures kept falling over. I just tried this museum wax trick and so far it's working. The figures I secured are heavy figures so I hope this continues to work.
@ComicallyToys
@ComicallyToys 3 месяца назад
Glad I could help! Yeah as long as they do balance on their own, then the wax should keep them from falling from the room shifting(from walking around it). And I know those Mythic Legions can get pretty darn hefty!

Great tutorial. I have been pretty lucky to avoid any major catastrophes just balancing stuff, but this might work well for some of he more difficult to balance characters for long term displaying.

Yeah! And especially good if you live in earthquake prone areas, or live in a place that shifts under weight easily(like an old apartment).

never thought to use this on my toys as they have a terrible habit of falling (looking at you dragon ball z figures) so may give it a go. I know its good stuff too since I also buy swords and helmets and museum wax is good for keeping rust off and keeping them clean

hey, i have two quick questions. 1. Does this at all damage the underside of the figures 2. Whats your thoughts on using this sort of wax for larger statues / figures to prevent them from being knocked over, would this sort of wax hold down larger figures ? thank you
@ComicallyToys
@ComicallyToys 6 месяцев назад
Sorry for the late reply! 1. I don't think it should damage these kinds of figures at all. Plastic figures are just that, plastic. So they aren't made of a material that will absorb the material that the wax is made out of as far as I can tell. Like I show in the video, I had Venom on there for months, and after I wiped it away it was like I hadn't even used it. 2. Oh I think it'll work perfectly. This stuff is exactly what it's for! As long as the statue/figure can stand on it's own, then this stuff will definitely keep it in place. I hope this helps! But definitely let me know if you have more questions.
@ludwigvanbubthoven5692
@ludwigvanbubthoven5692 Год назад
Nice. I think this stuff would work well with females Legends figs like Jean Grey and Storm. Their huge heavy heads and tiny feet make them hard to stand without support.
@ComicallyToys
@ComicallyToys Год назад
And that new Elektra with the giant hair! You're totally right though. As long as you can get them to stand, then the wax will make sure the only time they fall is when you want them to! Have you tried this or any other methods for keeping your figures standing?
@ludwigvanbubthoven5692
@ludwigvanbubthoven5692 Год назад
@@ComicallyToys Yeah, she would be a prime candidate for the wax! As for keeping them upright, I use NECA and Valaverse stands. I just have to sacrifice a bit shelf space.
@ComicallyToys
@ComicallyToys Год назад
I haven't used either of those yet. The Hasbro one is great but takes tons of space. I may need to try the NECA and Valaverse!
@retrouniverse2.0

I struggle keeping stuff like Mego Buck Rogers and other older scifi lines standing as they don't have peg holes, My concern would be paint coming off. Does this happen at all?
@ComicallyToys
@ComicallyToys Год назад
So I don't have a lot of experience with any Mego figures, but as far as the museum wax it's really just a wax. I don't think it has any kind of corrosive properties that would impact paint. I mean if I was able to just wipe it off Venom without any residue or change to the feet then I have a hard time seeing how it might hurt paint. But with that said I'm willing to test that out if it would be helpful to you!

Can applying the Wax get the figures to stick say..horizontally or upside down???
@arachnid_human_male
@arachnid_human_male Год назад
can you pick up and move figures with mueseum wax on them? Like for stop motion?
@ComicallyToys
@ComicallyToys Год назад
You technically could, but you'd have to clean up the wax that's on your surface before you take your picture too. But maybe if your figure is staying in that one place and otherwise the rest of the body is moving around then it would be doable. Please tag me when you post your stop motion stuff. I really love that stuff!

@@ComicallyToys do you have any alternatives in mind
@ComicallyToys
@ComicallyToys Год назад
@@arachnid_human_male A couple of thoughts. For what you're trying to do. I'd try using a double sided pad like these ones. You don't have to use these ones exactly since I've not used these, but I think this will work for what you're trying to do. Since it comes with so many you can just cut them down if they are too big for the feet of the figures you're working with. The other thing you might need, depending on your resources, is a "winder" rig. This is the cheapest one I can find: amzn.to/3rCiSvx Though I do understand that it's kind of expensive. I'm personally actually seeing if I can 3D print one out, but if that fails then I'll probably get the one I just linked. Let me know what you think!

So if I read correctly, then I do believe that this can withstand temperatures of over 100 degrees. Unless you're saying your room gets hotter then that. Then you have more serious problems then keeping figures standing!
