You should upload a video just of the pipes, I loved that screen saver as a kid!! 😂 Maybe that is where my love of metal came from lol. I'm amazed how much they go for, wow!

Having spent thousands of hours staring at a CRT in the 90's and early 2000's, I'm surprised I'm not more blind than I am. Great for that retro feel for sure, but I'd struggle to look at one these days!

The older monitors need sync from a computer to fire up, so its always best to plug them into a known working computer. The only connection to earth in those should be a couple of capacitors used for power filtering, mainly to stop rubbish from the monitor going back into the mains. They are probably fine, but might be making your tester think there is a fault even though there isnt.

The last time I messed around with those big monitors was in the early 2000's. I was taking a really nice monitor to my friends house for some lan gaming. The car was locked and he had the keys so I set it on his trunk and went to retrieve the keys. I was about 3 steps towards the house when I heard a thunk. The monitor slid off and landed on driveway on the screen. I was gutted. That was the last time I tried to move big monitors around.

I would rather have the real estate back so I would try and sell the ones that aren't working as parts only on eBay or wherever, just to move them along. Especially with the amount of them that you have. I know you feel you need to find a solution to why they aren't working but If they will sell as parts then it is giving them a new life and it is someone else's time that is being used to fix it.

Chris has too many projects already and these monitors are not that different from that big CRT TV he showed a week or so ago. I hope that once the shed is empty he will do a new worm video.

It's good to price high like that. Whoever gets it will know the price really can't go any lower considering it's already a retro machine. It ensures that it gets valued and passed on to the next generation to appreciate. Keep up the good work. I got a Sony PVM on a job at a veterinarians office and I was so excited about it. Unfortunately the case had degraded to the point that my hands went through the case when I went to pick it up. I think it was due to some chemical exposure in the room it was in. Sadly I had to let it go although I should have perhaps sold it for parts considering the value.

Hi Chris, that first monitor that failed its leakage test will be a class one appliance (earthed metal) not a class two. So if the leakage was under 5mA it will be a pass. It is hard to test them as a class one without taking the cover off though.

I had a couple 21" CRT monitors, having felt the weight I always imagined returning home to find a burglar laying on the floor and begging for an ambulance! LOL Size is everything, if it's $300 for a 20", a 16" might be $140? Looking forward to hearing how you get on.
