Yo, I've been painting all day. I may have had a few cold ones. The last thing I wanted to do is clean the brush and roller. I REALLY appreciate this video my man!!!! 👍

John, your solution for storing the brush and roller work very well even here in warm, arid California. Thank you sir!

Thanks Jim, that would work too. Sometimes I even store them in the refrigerator, although my wife isn't too crazy about that.

Good question. You might ask at the paint store where you buy the stuff. You could probably leave the brush in solvent overnight, in a bucket soaking up to the base of the bristles. I wouldn't leave it too long because the polyurethane will gunk up at the bottom and get on the tips of the bristles. I think soaking in solvent is the only thing that will prevent the polyurethane from drying on the brush, though. Wrapping in plastic probably won't do it, as you note.

I have never used a Brushmate. Looks interesting online. There's also a thing called Paint Brush Mate that looks like a wire brush and brush comb in one. Not sure if these tools are necessary but hats off to the people out there innovating. I've always had great luck using the storage method I demonstrate in the video. Thanks!

I stored my brushes each and everyday(at the end of each workday) and stored into water...all my natural bristle brushes in oil based undercoat/gloss and i only had to change my brushes to new once in 9 years...simply squeeze out all water once removed from pot and work the brush firmly into a cloth to get any water out....doesnt take 2 minutes then a few dips into gloss and wipe side to side onto cardboard and bingo...youre ready to go again for a full days work as if they had never been stored..

problem with not cleaning your brushes every night is there's a piece of hard wood inside the Farrell that keep your bristles aligned that piece of wood hardly gets wet from paint or cleaning everyday. problem with letting your brush sit in paint or water over night or a couple days is that piece of wood eventually soaks up the water and swells then drys out and will crack. this way really screws your brushes up and nine years come on now not storing like that your bristles are misaligned and you may say your brush performs great and all but doubt it 100%. just dont be lazy and clean your brushes people

My (latex) paint dried on the side of the bucket while painting all day, which put a lot of little dried flakes in the paint the next day, even after covering at night. Any way to prevent this? Thanks for your great videos.

Dont the internal hole of the roller fill with paint if you "sink it down in the paint"?

Will this work for oil based paint as well? My oil brushes/rollers always dry up on me, no matter how tightly I wrap them. I haven’t tried saturating them yet though.

I just stick the brush in a sandwich baggy and twist the top around the handle.

I prefer painter's plastic, but saran wrap does work.

This video provides and information. You should always clean your brush each day because that brush will absorb the paint and swell that piece of wood. Your brush will last a life time by cleaning it everyday. His way you will need a new brush in a year or 2. Of rather not but a expensive brush every year or 2. But his roller way is correct

not for just a day, also hang the brush with the bristles down, latex and oil paint will NOT wick up like that water YES paint no
