The story behind how Dazzey Duks by Duice was made and became a hip hop smash hit in 1993. Heit The Great interviews Duice member L.A. Sno about the history of the song Dazzey Duks (Daisy Dukes)-- how Dazzey Duks was made, how Dazzey Duks was promoted, and Hip Hop's response to the Miami Bass Music sound.
L.A. Sno talks about Tony Mercedes & Al Bell signing the group, Duice, based off of the hit song Dazzey Duks, to Bellmark Records and the song possibly funding "Whoomp! (There It Is)". Both songs with other (Georgia/Miami) Bass Music singles helped propel southern hip-hop in the mainstream music business.

How much of an impact do you think Dazzey Duks and Bass Music had on pushing Southern Hip Hop into the mainstream?
@djkreature
@djkreature 2 года назад
I'm gonna say that Lil Flip, Slim Thug, and Paul Wall had more to do with it. I'm speculating but I believe the only reason they aren't still mainstream is that they refused to participate in the rituals and sell their souls. Nobody stays on top of the music industry without selling their soul

My intro to bass music was by a lesser known group called bass patrol. Their album nothin but bass is one of the hardest hitting bass albums ever. I got that so so def bass all stars album with la snow on there. Bumpin! DOWN SOUTH!!!

@@Drematic yessir. Man I was in the 8th grade back in 95, and a friend of mine said "if u like bass, check this album out". And he gave me the nothing but bass album. I blew some speakers too lol. The album This Is How It's Done Not The Way Its Supposed To Be Done is just as hard, but admittingly the other Bass Patrol albums had mad bass, but not as much as these 2 DOWN SOUTH!!! DOWN SOUTH!!!

@@amsamuel i’m from memphis, but i was raised in georgia. dj magic mike was probably the first true bass music artist i can remember. my favorite bass patrol project was the kings of bass tape. as far as georgia artists, raheem the dream was the first one i remember that had everybody beatin the block down.

@@Drematic I remember when dj magic dike.. I mean Mike lol, was bass beefing with bass patrol. That kings of bass got some tight beats on it. But magic Mike beat them with that bass the final frontier album. But then bass patrol beat him with nothin but bass album! I say this because I got the real cds, not burnt copies, and I used to be a producer, and real manufactured cds give u the best sound quality. I played the cds at the same volume level, and monitored the levels, and nothin but bass, specifically the song nothin but bass, was the clear winner. I remember hearing Raheem the dream on so so def bass all stars lol DOWN SOUTH!!!

IN TEXAS WE HAD RAHEEM , THE GETO BOYS 86-88 , ROYAL FLUSH , LYRICAL EMBASSY ETC ... MEMPHIS HAD DJ ZIRK AND SQUEAKY . TEXAS ALSO WAS LISTENING TO FILA FRESH CREW (THE GROUP THE D.O.C BELONGED TOO) . BASS MUSIC WASNT A MAJOR FACTOR IN TEXAS NO DISRESPECT
