Story Explained: The Blazblue Universe. [Discovery] 

Hey, post Monarch update here. Just wanted to drop by for a bit and talk about something. That being the fact that not only has this become my 2nd most viewed video of all time on my channel, but also how it has reached 1k likes. Just... holy shit. Words cannot describe the surprise at waking up this morning to see this much support for a series that has had its ups and downs, especially in terms of uploads, but thank you all so much. Knowing that there are people who actually found my videos helpful and informative means the world to me, and encourages me to continue onwards. Once again, thank you. I hope to continue giving the joy and knowledge that many of you found in this episode, for the rest of this series.

I can explain the whole story in a few sentences: a jerkwad hypnotizes one kid, kidnaps another, and attempts to murder the third. The kid who got stolen was tortured and experimented on while the one who was brainwashed ended up okay. The third kid who almost died (our protag) grows up and seeks revenge. Then a time-loop happens and the only way to save the world is for the protag to erase himself and the tortured kid from existence. Also all 3 kids are siblings. That is the story of BlazBlue as summarized as possible.

I appreciate the effort put into the video, but trying to go the dramatic route is distracting and slows down the pace imho.

As much as I appreciate you taking all this time to not only comprehend the storyline for yourself but explain it to others, the pacing of the video is pretty slow and not very engaging. I get that you're trying to go for a dramatic effect, but it's kind of distracting, especially with the origin background lore before the actual plot takes place. It can get pretty boring when the dry, background information is paired with the slow, dramatic method of delivery. Sorry if I'm being too critical. As I said before, I really do appreciate you explaining the story of the games to everyone and this is one of the best video series' I've seen discussing the story so far, but there were a few things that stood out to me. Thank you for making this

"People avoid the story, because it's so convoluted" Me, watching this video for that very reason: "LET'S GOOOOOOOO"

The most confusing bit was Calamity trigger but I got it all sorted out when I played CS Also you're wrong about Susanoo. Terumi was always Susanoo and he was created to protect Amaterasu. After some time he began to develop of will of his own. After that he began to hate being bound by the Master Unit and rebelled.

Well, I’m not gonna lie; after watching this, I still feel...mightily confused. But. I’m like...only 70% completely mystified as opposed to 154% the way I was before. So, thank you very much for taking the time to put this series together. I can’t even imagine how much time and effort it took to collate and distill all of this insane backstory. I’m currently working on a BBCF super ranking video and while it’s gonna be almost entirely based on aesthetics, I still feel somehow more confident about writing the script for it after having watched this series. I’m glad that these videos have proven so successful for your channel, and I hope you’re able to continue to produce such excellent content. You’ve got my attention, my interest, and my subscription. Dude, THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Oh my god, I've been waiting for someone to make this video, I am a RWBY fanboy that got into Blazblue because of Cross Tag Battle (Still crap, as I'm very new to fighting games), but this story has been messing with my head for months. I eventually got to the point where I kind of knew CT, and I knew the story of CS through the anime, but every time I figured one thing out, two more complicated parts cropped up. You just earned a new subscriber, and I cannot thank you enough.

Thing is, KH, BB, MGS, and GG stories are easy to follow and make sense… *If you pay attention.* Which most people don’t, so they just it’s confusing.

Thanks for this. BlazBlue has a ridiculously complicated story but I honestly really enjoy it,. flaws and all.

I always wondered what the hell the point of the boundary was, I always assumed it was deep curiosity, but the Azure is inside it? Wow, taking out the fat and laying this out like this helps Blazblue make SENSE?!?!?!?

You did a pretty good job here, and I really admire your work on this series so far, but I have a few corrections: 1. The Azure isn't really an artifact or object, it's just a power or ability. It would be better to call it an infinite power source. 2. While you are correct that the destruction abilities of the Master Unit are called "Izanami", there still is the "Izanagi System" which is the creation part of Amaterasu's power. 3. You don't have to be the Eye in order to know about or study the Master Unit. You need to be the Eye to locate the Master Unit, but you can observe and study it without that ability. 4. I don't think that anything suggests Clavis was the one who proposed the creation of the Izayoi.

The moment you mentioned that some say the story is as complicated if not more than Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear Solid I had to make this comment, hell I even subbed just because of it and I look forward to hearing more. You could not have chosen better franchises to compare it to, personally speaking, as Kingdom Hearts has been my favorite game franchise since I was young, and growing up I met some great friends in highschool, one of which introduced me to his favorite franchise: BlazBlue, and this same friend introduced me to his best friend who's favorite franchise was Metal Gear Solid. Since then I've wanted to learn about BlazBlue lore hence why I ended up here in the first place, the guy I mentioned earlier taught me pretty much all he knows about MGS and I think I've got a pretty solid grasp on it now but my friend I mentioned from earlier who introduced me to BlazBlue hasn't quite finished all of it so I figured I'd fill in some of the gaps from Calamity Trigger to Chrono Phantasma so I can play through Central Fictions story. I've since fallen in love with MGS and BB's stories, I personally don't find these kinds of plots confusing, more so intriguing like a linear story is nice but stories like these are almost unending, it feels like there's always more to discover and things to find out that might change even the simplest event that happened in the story into one of great significance. I find it all fascinating, so to end this long ass comment, thanks for making these BB lore vids and thanks for using those franchises as a comparison, lol

You got something wrong. The prime field devices ask to be treated as humans that true. But the humans treated them like gods not monsters when they couldn’t agree humans decide to fight the prime field devices.

You're not kidding about the story. I just finished the first game's story mode 100% and I still don't have a clue what was happening or why. That's why I'm watching this video series. The game was just a fever dream, filled with gobbledegook where practically nothing ever got an explanation. The infuriating part was when characters would occasionally act as if they were about to explain something then change their minds. It made me want to kidnap the developers and literally torture the information out of them. I usually see the story as the most important part of any game and bemoan the lack of one. I heavily criticised Guilty Gear: Strive because its story mode was just an anime movie. However, in this case I honestly wish they hadn't included one at all. No story would have been preferable to that incoherent mess. Hopefully, this video series will help it to make some sort of sense.

In a sense it like this future past then loop. The closes thing I can think of at the moment to Blazblue timeline would be the creation of ZeedMillenniummon a digimon that is born from a time loop. Which the Blazblue game is in a time loop but in a more larger and grander scale that span multiple several different parallel paths which loops to reset again .

Nice work. Was hard to get through the cheesy narration but it was presentable.

I just know Ragna has to not be actually such a bad person. Given scenes where he'll save someone who would try to kill him without a thought if theyre in trouble, and the deep care and responsibility child Ragna felt towards his sister and brother, he must have a good reason for going on rampages and attacking the government.

So that's what they meant in central fiction when they said the world was already destroyed and they were living in an artificial one even before Izanami put them in the embryo she made. That also makes ragna's creation make a little more sense.

Putting this all together is pretty great, but I can't help but feel that you're skipping on explanations. Like you say "the first of the Prime Fields" without explaining that the hell is a Prime Field. If I didn't know it already, I'd probably be just more confused.

Earlier I wanted to figure out the connection between Noel, Mu-12, and Saya. 10 wiki pages later, I find myself in a rabbit hole. This clears up a lot, I look forward to the next episode. There's one part that confused me, though. 2:55 "...and at the center of all this lies The Master Unit: Amaterasu." 8:27 "It could manage Amaterasu's power to a degree, but not to the full extent that The Master Unit can." Are The Master Unit and Amaterasu two different entities? Is one basically a computer/machine while the other is AI?

I don't find this series convoluted at all really. It's pretty easy.

The only other thing on my mind while watching this video was that the humans in BlazBlue are a special kind of dumbasses.... Let's make the Prime Fields to mess with Amaterasu! This was good I had already put the story together but going over it again through others perspective is good, only complaint is that you pause between every sentence which t some point becomes grating and annoying

I’m going to be brutally honest with you: coming from someone who has Platinumed the first 3 BlazBlue’s years ago, I was intrigued for some clarity on the story. But after hearing the first 2 minutes of you talking about the Boundary, Azure, Time, Space, blah, blah, blah...I let the video play, gave you a like, and then walked the Eff off. It’s just too damn much, especially for fighting game fans...😑. Great video, great channel; keep doing your thing...😉

If ONE of the original units, SUSANO'O was playable in Blazblue Central Fiction, WHY COULDN'T *AMATERASU* BECOME PLAYABLE?! There was even a "MURAKUMO UNIT" crucified inside the Master Unit with the Amaterasu symbol on it!!

I disagree on the part of Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts lore is way more confusing because like LITERALLY every story is so crucial and important to understand the main story. Whereas for Blazblue, say example Naoto Kurogane, Raquel and Es appearing in Centralfiction, I find to be not as bothered, sure it would be nice for more explanation in depth as to how they are linked to be more explicit in the games, but its not as inconsequential as compared to Kingdom Hearts. Heck we still even haven't gotten the reveal of who The Master of Masters is whereas in Blazblue you already have things like the Imperator is Izanami/Saya or that the reason for Blazblue (Game) events happening is due to the Origin. Kingdom Hearts till now still has not even reach there because of Nomura KEKW. To put it Blazblue terms, I would say that maybe up to Kingdom Hearts 3, we are only up to the end of Continuum Shift where we repelled the the bad guys but the true mastermind has yet to be defeated and you add in Centralfiction's ending where our protagonist made the sacrifice for the sake of his loved one/friends. Anyways, awesome video. We need more Blazblue exposure. Also KOTOKO PLS SING ANOTHER BLAZBLUE SONG. TRUE BLUE IS AWESOME BUT I NEED MORE AWESOME BLAZBLUE SONGS XD

There are many & I mean many reasons why people tend to avoid taking about the story of Blazblue!! And who could really blame them, Blazblue in terms of the story is a Absolute Beast & it's a Fighting Game no less & it contends with the story of Metal Gear Solid & Kingdom Hearts!
