I’m just seeing this. That’s crazy! I recently opened my retail space. It’s boutique in size but the area is wonderful. I do live in Philly so we are a bit more tolerant of all races. My neighbors have a welcome me with open arms. I will say that I didn’t go the commercial real estate way.. I can be transparent and say I found my place on Craigs list.

THESE mountains will move, and everyone going to be wondering why is there a line around the block everyday. It will be your business because your are needed and wanted and the demand has not been meant especially for the minority needs of your city. Me too! Thank you so much! I am trying my best to get through this. I just had an experience where a commercial broker who is managing one of the properties, flat out lie to my broker! She told him that I said I did not want to view the property! I was so pissed! So, I told my broker I didn't want to go through her to see the space. This has been a rollercoaster.

I am not surprised that you're dealing with this. I'm from the south and this is so common although it's sad. Keep going! Jesus says what you do to the least you do unto me...how does these people think that they will make it to Heaven

It was me who made the comment. I am so sorry for your experience so far. I worked in the retail industry and I also worked in commercial real estate. I left both industries due to being essentially chased out bc of race. I’d love to still be in commercial brokerage but it was tiring dealing with the nonsense every day. I know the right space will come for you soon. That is exactly why am getting into development, so that I can build my own properties and no one can tell me no. Are you far from oakbrook? The company that owns it has a program to help get more minorities into retail spaces. That would be more of the higher price point customers you are looking for
