This '72 Dodge Coronet had no muffler when I purchased it. It was pretty loud, so I decided to go with the cheapest muffler option which was a Thrush Brand glass pack.
In this video I show I go over the muffler and then you can hear what the car sounds like without any muffler and with the new glass pack.
It's a short video but good comparison.
There is more work to do on the car... but at least it's not obnoxiously loud now!

That Dodge Coronet four door sounds great any muffler can be available at the most you won’t get in trouble with the law and other neighbors

Nice car. My first car was a '72 Coronet. I've since had two more. All with 318s. If I get the chance, I'll buy more of them.

I put two of those on my 318 swapped '46 Dodge deluxe....it was much louder than I expected. but it does sound mean!

The no exhaust was pretty annoying to me… so I can imagine others would think even less of it! Now it’s much more acceptable!

I remember using one in high school on a V8 maverick lol. It kept blowing off from back pressure. Crazy but I miss that damn car now.

My opinion is that the six's from that era don't sound great at best. So the quieter the better. Its unusual for that late of a b to have a six. So cool car.

Don't expect it to last too long. I did the same thing after I had a bad carb that blew up a couple mufflers. Those modern day glass packs are cheap as $hit. My glasspack was a hollowed out core in less than a year. The best 'cheap' muffler to get is the Walker Sound FX. I've had mine on 5 or so years now and it has an OE style Mopar 'Hemi' muffler rumble. Number 18230. Cheap. Nearly the same as the glasspack but quieter and lasts longer.

Sounds much better with the thrush muffler for sure. The only drawback is you might have a drop in your fuel mileage......but hey, get that carb adjusted correctly and you'll get it all back and then some. Love your video's, keep them coming Austin.

I kind of liie the sound of the straight pipe more, but imagine that in person is too loud, especially when driving for more than 15 or 20 minutes. Getting dirty looks from neighbors is never good either

I am also looking to be an owner of a 1971or 1972 Dodge Coronet and Plymouth Satellite sedans, preferably with the 318 engine. They will make for some very cool drivers.

I had Thrush deep tone mufflers on my 67 GTO back in the day, and Cherry Bomb muffler on other car back then.

The only time that a muffler is not wanted is when you drag race track only car. On the street a good flow exhaust is needed to get decent fuel mileage and a nice sounding exhaust doesn't drone your ears to the brink of insanity.

Sounds pretty good, anything done to the motor, idle is pretty stout sounds least on video

Yeah most of the cars I find are rusted rotted out humidity got most of them and salt on the roads I'll still look to the woods trying to find them hooked on Facebook market they're asking big dollars for rusted mopars 😁
