This had a cool old school Metal sound. Just a good overall track with all the instruments and vocals hitting when they needed to. Cool guitar solo as well.

If you want more of this voice listen to savatage - hall of the mountain king or gutter ballet, savatage is maybe the most underrated band in metal 🤘

Jon Oliva is the Lead Singer of Savatage, and one of the founding members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (who debuted on a Savatage Album). In the TSO Catalogue, you'll find him playing the role of the devil in "Beethoven's Last Night". He also has side projects "Jon Oliva's Pain" and "Doctor Butcher". He's been in the Metal game a long time, done Wacken, the "Monsters of Rock" tour, etc. He's a Metal Legacy.

Jon was with the band called Savatage. They originally did a song called Sarajevo 12/24, and the band eventually became what is now called Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He doesn't tour with them, but is behind the scenes..

He did play the Devil in "Beethoven's Last Night". He was close with Producer Paul O'Neil, who produced both Savatage and TSO. Most of the former Savatage Members have worked with TSO at some point, though they are distinct different groups. The track you mention comes from the album "Dead Winter Dead", which was loosely inspired by the real life story of the cellist of Sarajevo, Vedran Smailović. Vedran would play his Cello in the ruins of the city as the war raged on around him, placing him often in the line of fire from snipers. A fantastic story. He may not have played Metal on his Cello, but he is Metal as fuck, lol. His legacy would inspire bands half way around the world.

You should totally listen to Savatage's "When the Crowds are gone" and "Edge of Thorns" or "Gutter Ballet"

Jon is one of the greatest songwriters, in my humble opinion. And his voice is so iconic. Whether it's his solo material or with Savatage, the music and vocals are just off the charts insane. Savatage wrote a concept album called Streets: A Rock Opera. It's a masterpiece. I hope you give it a spin sometime and react to some of those songs. Also, his brother Criss (RIP) was an amazing guitarist. If Savatage were mainstream (which I'm glad they were not), I think Criss would have been recognized as one of the best guitarists in rock.

This was cool, gave me a bit of old school Alice Cooper vibes but with a groovy funky feel to it.

Classic sound, cool freakin' groove. I'm not familiar with Jon's solo work but Savatage are awesome, and I got to see TSO a few years ago and it was a mind blowing experience . Pretty sure he wasn't there for that one though. 🤘🤘
