In this tutorial, I walk you through the process I use to straighten my friend Cherie's transitioning hair. I also discuss products used and flat iron choices.
Transitioning takes patience. You can help yourself along the journey with helpful tips and product information found here on my blog, and by researching terminology and reading product reviews.
Products and Tools:
Mixed Chicks Sulfate-Free Shampoo
Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner
ApHogee Keratin and Green Tea Restructurizer
Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep
Jane Carter Solution Wrap & Roll
Chi Deep Brilliance Reflect
FHI 1 inch Platform Series Flat Iron
Ion Anti Frizz Ionic Blow Dryer
Denman 9-Row Brush
Hair cutting shears
Total Time:
Total style time for deep conditioning, straightening and trimming was about three hours.
Keep and Care:
You can preserve your style by sleeping with your hair in a traditional wrap and securing with a silk or satin scarf, or you can wrap sections on flexi-rods or rollers for more curls and volume.

I am deaf and I recently began my natural hair journey. This channel is literally helpful compared to other channels because most tend to be including all of the talkings without subtitles, etc but this, I'm not sure if you're talking but the way you show the products and do the hair is so clear and so easy to know. Gonna sub this awesome channel and show this to my deaf female family members whom also began their natural hair journey! MO KNOWS HAIR!

I love how you describe and explain each and every step so that we can understanding why we're doing this process. Some videos just have music, and that's it, which doesn't help me at all. Her hair came out beautifully.

You did a wonderful job of detangling. I don't see a lot of stylist taking that much and care with someone's hair. Everything turns out lovely.

Some naturals should allow transitioners to do their thing and not making a mountain deal that everyone must big chop their hair Do what works for you and let others do theirs Whew these natural journey is a journey after all towards healthy hair and your preferences

I've been dreading wash days for almost a year because the two textures are killing me! I almost gave up once, but your videos and KNOWLEDGE have given me hope! This video has been extremely helpful to me. Since deciding to transition in May 2015 I've been doing braid outs, perm rods, twists out and avoiding heat at all costs. But now that I have more natural hair I've been struggling. Thank you for making this video. You have a new subscriber.

I am so glad I watched this. I am a year and a half into transistioning and realize the shedding is because 1) i am not caring for the line of demarcation enough and 2) too much tension during blow dry and detangle when wet. Thanks for these good tips.

Mo, you have transformed my hair. I'm a relaxed girl, but I stretch my hair for long periods. I also wanted to workout more frequently and used the tips in your workout vid to save my styles so I could stop using it as an excuse not to. I never comment on vids. Not sure why, but your vids are so precise, clear, and devoid of unnecessary talking or the latest product fad. Just plain brilliant but simplistic tips and products to achieve the best hair possible. The vids and you're voice are very soothing, almost like I'm sitting in a class with a teacher I want to learn from and thinks she's super cool. Really, Mo, thank you for just breaking it down and making my hair an easier task to take on!
