About a year ago, I picked up the Strandberg Metal NX 7. While Strandberg is renowned for their quality and playability, does it hold up a year later?

Awesome video! I tried three strandbergs in a row earlier this year and unfortunately had very poor QC experience with all three of them, the first one had very sharp fret ends, the next 2 had a high fret at about the mid point of the guitar (9-12 fret), I legitimately returned 2 guitars hoping the third would be a winner but sadly it wasn't, I could tell its a great guitar though ignoring the QC issues though.

Yeah for the price it’s truly just unacceptable, but it’s almost worth dealing with to have such a unique instrument. It’s truly phenomenal QC aside!

My Ibanez Universe from 1991 gets dings and dents super easily as well. The body material is basswood, which I noticed was softer than that of other guitars I'd had. If you see _my_ frets, they are also dented throughout the fretboard, and right from the early days. However, these are not stainless steel. I think your fret will be easily fixed with a little crowning.

While I do know it can be fixed, even if I need to take it in and have it fixed, my point was more that if I’m paying such money, I wouldn’t expect there to be fret issues 😅

@@BlakeLW I understand! As in the case of my own Ibanez, it was the top of the line, next to the swirl model from 1991 and they use cheap basswood for these expensive guitars. I don't know why.

Check out GOC guitars if you dig headless ergonomic djent sticks! They are way more affordable & the lads who make them are awesome!

I meant to check these guitars out a while ago! They do catch my eye quite a bit. I may have to check one out at some point 🤔

Just personal opinion, Strindberg’s price tag is just way too high, like I can got a used Ibanez prestige in 2/3 the price, which I know it will be a well made top tier guitar, why I bother spending 3k buying a Indonesian made guitar😅😅😅Honestly, strandberg feels like they are selling a concept, but does the concept really worth that much? I really like how it looks and really want to get one but no I’m not going to pay that much money for it

Yeah for the price you pay you can even pay just a little more for another custom in some cases. It’s definitely the price of the name on the guitar haha. Used strandbergs could be 100% worth it but brand new it’s hard to justify (for me!)

On the plus side, those things are probably super lightweight, I’m used to basses LOL. Idk why I noticed this but is there a reason why you move your index up to the 3rd fret on the initial riff?

It really almost feels like I’m playing with a toy when I use other guitars for a while! I love it though. It’s very easy to just carry around. It’s just a bad playing habit I have though. I mute a lot better if I do that with my first finger
