Re the child acting. Everybody always focuses on Eleven, understandably, but for me Dustin is a stand-out. That kid's a natural actor. All the little physical things he does that seem like he made them up on the spot, like his double-take when Lucas does the spit shake, or at the beginning when he mimes Eleven starting to take off her shirt, how he circles back to that a couple times after, the way he looks at her, it's all just so entertaining to watch.

Don't let Danny read this one, potential spoilers. For the scene with the wall, I do believe it was Will that led Joyce to his bedroom, but I think the monster may have shown up in that moment and scared him away. The shape in the wall looks more like claws and a small rounded head like the Demogorgon. However in the next episode, there's another wall scene with Mike's little sister. I think that one is actually Will, because the shape in the wall is a small child's handprint. Don't worry... It took me like a dozen re-watches for me to catch that one. I don't think many people did. Great second reaction. I'm also curious as to how long ago you've watched this show, because even you seem surprised at certain parts. Cheers!

I’ll fill him in on this one later - excellent observation 💙 It’s been a while since I’ve done a rewatch, atleast a few years, maybe even longer for the early seasons. So it’s very exciting to dive back in!!!

Not many people seem to know but quite some time before Stranger Things, a very much younger Millie was in a (sadly cancelled) series where she played a child possessed by an old man serial killer, so she cut her teeth on a lot of subtle physical acting (expressions etc).

Millie has justifiably won awards including a Screen Actors Guild and MTV one obviously when she was still so young literally from her first season of the show. The show itself has also won awards - considering their ages when this first started all the core child cast as they were back then for their young years were just 1 of the best casts anyone could ask for that together with the bond they formed outside of it as well why it was so special from day one.

The thing with the beer can is because it is under pressure because of the carbonation, you turn the can on its side, puncture a hole in the bottom side of the can, then quickly put it to your mouth so the fluid rushes out very quickly, and you are supposed to drink/swallow it without letting it come out of your mouth. It's called "shotgunning" or to "shotgun" a beer.

I don't think pools would be very common in Indiana ... much more common in the South where very hot weather is more prevalent. But a rich family in the '80s might have one as a sort of vanity or luxury feature, even in more varied climates.

Yeah, Steve's family having an in-ground swimming pool establishes him as a rich kid. There are areas of the country where it's more prevalent, but in Indiana in the 1980s, only a wealthy family would have a pool. What bothers me, though, is that it's supposed to be November! Even very wealthy families in northern climes don't keep their outdoor pools open that late in the year. They usually drain them and close them down in early September, and even during an unusually warm autumn would certainly have done it by the end of October. The Harringtons would be spending a *fortune* on heating bills keeping that pool warm enough to be usable in November in 1980s Indiana. (The real explanation, of course, is that the show-runners themselves grew up in the south, while many of the other people working on the show were likely from southern California --- both places where it's far more likely that teenagers would be having fun in a pool in November. I know this, and yet it still always bothers me somehow.)
