this episode always breaks my heart for Will, he's just trying to get back to a state of normalcy after the last 2ish years and everyone else has changed.

It's a comfort knowing that Ketchup and Mustard are on the case.

"Again, when does this become 'feel good'?" 🤣 It's really only 'feel good' for those of use that grew up in the 80s and remember a lot of the things this show brings back. The clothes, the styles, the architecture, the technology, the sci-fi and horror movie references... I truly love season 3.

Dacre Montgomery (Billy) is a phenomenal actor. The way he can switch from an 80s dudebro to an otherworldly terror is amazing. He played the Red Ranger in the new Power Rangers at the same time as this and the range is just wild. I get why people don't react to them, but it'd be cool to see you react to the final trailer for this season. The music mixed with Dacre's voiceover got me so hyped for this season.

Robin is arguably my favorite character in this entire show.

What do you mean when will it be feel good? The stuff with Max and Elle having a sleepover, the mall stuff with Steve/ Dustin/Robin, etc. This episode was a little darker but he series does get more mature and darker as a natural progression. But there still is a lot of really feel good 80’s friend group stuff as well as a lot of nostalgia. You’re totally right about it being like 5 different 80’s movies. The show runners said that every season takes inspiration from a few iconic 80’s movies and those are different every season. Season 1: E.T. (The way Elle behaves like a total alien fish out of water in a cute and comical way and the boys try to protect her from being discovered), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (the setting and genre and how Joyce is the viewers in to all the craziness going on while everyone sees her as crazy), Poltergeist (how a child is another super natural dimension and communicating through electronics), The Goonies, Stand By Me, etc Season 2: The Exorcist, Aliens, Firestarter, Gremlin Season 3: Terminator, Fast Rimes at Ridgemont High, The Blob, The Thing, Red Dawn (an iconic 80’s film about a group of teen friends who hide out and survive a Russian invasion in small town America and end up saving the day), The Shining, Jaws, Invasion of The Body Snatchers, Day of The Dead, War Games, Evil Dead, Magnum PI, Miami Vice, Return of the Jedi, Never Ending Story, Etc. It’s pretty dope to catch all of them or become aware of them afterwards and keep and eye out on a rewatch.

Pool Will lost so much of his childhood due to what he's been through, it's no wonder he wants to cling to fun childhood games while his friends are moving towards adulthood and acting like typical teenagers. It's a hard enough age without all the trauma he's been through!

The creators of this series are so thorough. Not only in terms of the music and styles of the 1980s, but also the background details. During the scene when Steve and Dustin are tracking down who they thought was a Russian operative, in the Waldenbooks shop window was the book 'Breaking with Moscow' by Arkady Shevchenko. Shevchecko at the time was highest U.S.S.R. official ever to seek political asylum in the United States.

One of the most chilling endings of a show or movie. It was awesome to watch.

This really solidifies the 'each group finds out some part of the puzzle, get together in the penultimate episode, end' loop that this show falls into. And the 'introduce new endearing character then kill them to keep the main cast safe' really takes any edge out of it.

So, random thought: the girls have a complete *ick* factor moment in previous episodes over the Billy/Karen Wheeler flirtation scene and possible hook-up even though they’re both over 18 and consenting adults, no matter how poor a choice it was on Karen’s part (so glad she didn’t go through with it), while a couple of young teenage girls drool over Ralph Macchio, who by the way was at least 22 or 23 when ‘The Karate Kid’ came out, without making a peep about it? Just making sure I understand the crazy double standard going on here, lol!
