RIP, Jeff Beck. Davey, I've lost track of how many years I've followed your antics, but it's more than a few now and I couldn't count the number of tips and tricks you've taught me. Bless your crusty old soul, my friend! I don't do this as a profession, but it sure is nice to be able to take care of your own shit and help out a buddy now and then. I just wanted to take a second and say thank you. You have helped and educated me, along with countless others. I now consider myself “competent “ at basic set ups and adjustments. The videos are a great guide, but like most things in life, until you actually get your hands dirty, THAT’S where experience comes from. So again I thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. The old saying “give a man a fish he eats for a day, TEACH a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime”

That is the coolest thing I've ever seen bone for frets sound insanely good to. I bet it feels like playing on glass. And it should help the strings not wear down fast to.

What, no steel wool?? (Joking, of course) I haven't tried to get the Super Lube but have used an old tube of powdered graphite on the nut slots of for my basses, seems to work fine but I welcome any thoughts on this. Today's movie is an excellent (and funny) tutorial on how to professionally set up a guitar, from soup to nuts, thanks Dave. And seeing a white Strat with a rosewood fingerboard immediately made me think of Jeff Beck and what a sad turn of events that happened to take his life. I pray that he did not suffer, he made so many people happy.

Such a beautiful axe! I have the 2012 Made In Mexico version of it with Maple fretboard...love all variations of White. My White Tele has a Rosewood fretboard. Love your videos Dave; you've taught me a lot.

Why does everyone including so called professional luthiers do that v thing with their trem springs? Major manufacturers do it also. I discovered years ago when I first started playing had a trem guitar went into the back to fiddle with it see if I could make it work better and the damn middle spring popped out!Soon realised that the way the manufacturers had it set middle spring was doing sod all so either take it out or change the springs so they are straight.Mate didn't believe me when I told him he insisted that's the way it had to be until I reached into his strat trem cavity and pulled out middle spring.

Q: Only part of the frets are worn down. Is it possible to do a partial refret? Or do you continue levelling down to the most worn ones until it is no longer possible and then do a whole refret?

Weird question, how do you clean the fret erasers? I’ve had the same set for a few years now and they’re so dirty from fret material.

Man I have a couple guitars here I mess with and they seem to play fine. I am not too critical of myself but I wonder what my MIM Strat would sound like with a set up. I since 2008 and the only thing I do is change the strings and adjust the truss rod. I tried adj the pup height and it sounds okay I guess.

How do you know how far down you can sand/grind the frets before they are too low? Obviously I’m just learning 😬 but that wasn’t really clear to me. Nice job. Good tribute for Jeff Beck RIP 🪦 🎸.👍☮️🌞

The black stuff is not tarnish. It is microscopic particles of nickel. Theoretically, you can NEVER get it all off with polish. You are creating more black goo every time you polish. On another note -- that thing sure has a whimpy looking trem block for a USA made Fender. You sure it's American?

This really makes you wish that was your guitar.
