I live in ‘Bourbon Country’ and when the neighbors come over for drinks I like to make a signature Jack Daniel’s drink. It started with Jack and Coke a few years ago for the Super Bowl and has gradually evolved to ornate whiskey sours and now I am trying this new Bonded recipe.
My favorite Jack story is actually from my dad. He likes to drink Old number 7 because it brings back memories for him. So I always pick it up to have with him. He always tells me the story about when him and his friends were 16. He had one friend who had a full grown beard, and they would have him get the bottle for them to drink. He said that they used to all drink it straight from the bottle passing it around, and that they would get wasted. He said thinking back, it was gross cause they would puking, but still drinking it and passing the bottle around. Lol. Would love to get the jacket for my dad. Thanks!
I’ve been a JD drinker for as long as I can remember. I watched a few YT videos on how JD drinkers should branch out and try new things. I tried them. Old Forester Signature, Buffalo Trace, etc. I liked them, but always went back to JD. My drink😊
The first time I ever had the green label Jack Daniels was visiting with my friends Doug and Sue who had just come back from a trip to Utah where they had found the elusive bottle. It was also the first time I ever had a (several) Boilermaker(s). After a couple of shots and my third or fourth boiler maker in the kitchen, I felt like I needed to sit down. So I wove my way to the edge of the living room where I was challenged by the wide empty expanse of floor between me and the couch. I was asked if I needed a hand, to which I drunkenly responded that I had it under control. My first step off the wall was fine, the second step I started to fall forward, my third step never landed. As a former martial artist, you hear about muscle memory, and I was incredibly grateful that my muscle memory was not as addled as my physical body. As I fell my body and instinctively tucked and rolled into a diving somersault which put me on my feet in the other side of the room, just in time to turn around and sit myself down on the couch. I am 6’3” and weigh 300+ pounds. The rest of the folks at the party or quite impressed with someone of my size to be able to have pulled off such a smooth somersault, let alone a drunken diving somersault. I of course played it off like it was totally intentional.
I'm a day late on commenting but still a story I would like to share. When I was born my dad bought a bottle of single barrel Jack Daniels, that he drank with everyone that came to see me when I was born. Everyone that had a drink wrote their name down on a piece of paper that my dad tied to the bottle. Then on my 21st birthday he pulled out the bottle and we looked at the list of names of people that were there and drank the rest of the bottle together.
Zach, you're the only bartender on RU-vid I can watch! The margaritas are mine and, everyone's favorites. I even replaced Cointreau with St.German elederflower liqour and the agave with elderflower syrup - highly recommend it. More tequila n rum drinks for the summer drunks plz! I'm also curious about mixed Pisco drinks. As for the JD story. I went to a concert when i was 22 and had one too many JD/coke. I had brought two vinyl's for the artist to sign at the end of the concert. Somehow I thought it was a great idea to frisbee one of them on to stage mid concert and the guitarist slipped on the sleeve and looked really hurt :(
1. Even though you never got into emo, your outfit for #artbeyondtheglass was awesome!! Way to go Billie Joe!!! 2. I have Jack bonded on hand, so I will definitely be trying this one!! Kind of a clovy/strawberry paper plane. 3. Jack stories are too numerous to pick one, but i harken back to our neighbors way back when when I was in college drinking Southern Comfort - early 90’s - and Patsy introduced me to Jack/Coke/Lime - my world was transformed. Never looked back and have been enjoying bourbon/whiskey ever since!!
Zach the ingredients that you used in the competition are fabulous. I'd be lining up to have this cocktail in a bar and I'd love to try making it at home!! I might want 2!! 🙂Okay, next! I adore your t-shirt - existentialism can be a blast!! Lol!! 🙂I am in gorgeous Vancouver so I won't try for the swag - "Good luck" and enjoy the swag - whoever wins!! 🙂Zach I know you are busy but I think your videos are so incredibly fabulous. I not only learn a lot, I also find them hilarious and fun to watch!! Keep them coming!! Cheers!!!
Jack Daniel's was the first whiskey I ever tried! I was really excited, and my friend said we would have some drinks and float down the river in our hometown. I asked if he wanted me to pick up some Jack, and he said he "had it under control." So we meet up to go float - I had a standard innertube - and he showed up with a personal pontoon boat you would go fishing in...ok, cool, what about the Jack Daniel's? He proceeded to pull out two airplane bottles - one for me, and one for him. Awesome. Two airplane bottles to last us about 2.5 hours. Anyway, we get about halfway down the river and it began to look cloudy, then it began to rain. No big deal, right? Then it began to thunder - which would have been an easy "get to shore and out of the water" type of deal if had we both been able to grab our innertubes and swim to shore. But now we're having to navigate a pontoon boat to shore, pull it out of the water, and get to cover. Great time! Still love that guy, and I just polished off a bottle of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select the last time I was over at his place! Bonus tale - my grandfather bought a bottle of Jack Daniel's in a "Belle of Lincoln" decanter when my mom was born. He saved it until I got married, and then passed the bottle onto me. It's a really cool piece that I cherish very much
My man! Innovative, informative, creative delivered through your unique style. While I have no Jack Daniels stories to contribute (aside from a friend of mine who swears that Jack’s full name was Jasper), I always appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Your drink looks awesome, Zach. I wouldn't have guessed it'd have that clove flavor. Will get back to you on a Jack Daniels story. I have one in mind, but it's honestly too embarrassing to post...
Saw your post on Reddit and was worried I'd watch a pretentious "mixologist" video. Happy to find that wasn't the case. Don't have any epic JD stories, but in my youth I always associated it with Lynyrd Skynyrd and David Lee Roth (not always a bad thing - FREE BIRD! - but not totally my thing), so i kinda steered clear of it until I tried it. Gentleman Jack is now a staple and I appreciate people using it as a main ingredient. Can't wait to try your cocktail with the Bonded. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Can we just all take a moment to really absorb that ensemble at 0:41? Not sure I have a 'good' story with Jack, but my first drink of anything alcoholic was a glass of Gentleman Jack I snuck from my brother's collection... It's all been downhill since then! (or uphill I guess...)
Gentlemen Jack was sort of a gateway drug before I got into bourbon. It's good stuff. But yeah, you've definitely drank more boutique-y shit since then.
My only concern would be it not fully incorporating into the drink. The last thing I want is an oil slick on the surface. That said, if you have it try it. I'd start with one drop and shake extra hard.
I once ran into Jack Daniels ambassadors in a bar they gave me a white patch of which I've not seen again I bought a suede jacket with no lining it was beige so I decided to diet in a washer I dyed it blue looked like a pair of faded jeans I put my Jack Daniels patch on it a Guns and Roses patch and I wore it for about 7 years somebody stole that jacket off the back of my chair in a Las Vegas bar that's my story and unfortunately it's true
went to a couch burning party in baroda mi blacked out on Jack Daniel's. Jumped over a burning tire and melted a "grass" skirt to my leg. Give me that fucking jacket.
@@ZachZoschke like always very analytical approach. I think that's what I like most about you as an engineer. Still I cannot win a Bag of Swag - well technically I can, but than it won't be shipped to me. Cheers and Happy National Daiquiri Day! Try this: 1,75oz light rum (plantation 3 stars) 0,25oz clairin (velier clarain communal) 1oz Zack Zoschke's super lime juice 0,75oz 1:1 simple
