Not far from Daryl's home town, Stockport is home to a little known recording studio - but one has produced many recordings you will know well!
From Cliff Richard to the Moody Blues, The Smith's to the Happy Mondays, many famous singers and bands have walked through the doors of Strawberry Studios. one band part owned and recorded most of their singles and albums there, including I'm Not In Love.......

Two of them went to the same school as me but a few years before. Tess Daly went to the same school but years later. We often play 10cc in our house. Have a lovely weekend you two

Lol. Is it stuck in your head now? Yes it is a rich area of very diverse music. People always think of the North West music scene as being Liverpool but there is so much more than that. We like Blossoms at the moment. A group from Offerton and Stockport who named themselves after the Blossoms pub where they used to meet, practice and perform.😀👍

As soon as you said the title of the place I thought "Strawberry Fields". As well as the classics that recorded there, I also loved the Manchester Indie bands of the late 80s/90s - the Stone Roses were right up there with the best 👍. Fascinating history.

Yes the Stone Rose's were really good. Did you see the movie Spike Island about a group of lads trying to get to the island to see the band? It is a good film.

It closed as a studio in the 90's but had been going since the 60's. We are both big fans of 10cc

That's very interesting. All the great music of the 60s and 70s are my favourite especially the music of Paul McCartney. However now my favorite is music composed by Antonio Vivaldi.

We don't mind a bit of Vivaldi, but still like to have Kate Bush on as well as many others. We were privileged enough to get tickets to see her when she played London a few years ago.

The studio isn't far from my Grandad's old pub on Hall Street (Victoria Arms). My Mum went to St Winifred's School, it was very expensive private education at the time (late 1940's early 50's)

Was there a choir when your Mum was there Chris? The only person we know who became famous and was actually one of the kids on the record is Sally Lindsay who used to be in Corrie.

I came out of a butchers shop with my Mother on Hall Street (1966?) and there was a man walking towards us and my Mum grabbed me as he walked past (they said hello to each other). Mum and Gran had a big discussion about him while I was sent out of the room. I found out later it was David Smith (Moors murders fame). He drank at my Grandad's pub.
