The Street Fighter 6 Ken combo guide is here to help everyone prepare for launch! These combos should give you a nice head start on what to do with an easy-to-follow demonstration that focuses on damage and practicality. We will be sure to provide updates in the future for every character as SF6 receives more patches.

Man I haven’t played a SF in 7+ years, haven’t played ANY fighter in 4+ years. I thought I was out… but the SF and MK hype pulled me back in. I don’t think I got what it takes to do even 1/4th of these combos anymore. 😢

As someone who took a couple years off since V i'm pretty rusty myself! I will say though, the amount of content in WT mode to introduce you to mechanics, in-game trials and the great arcade mode? I feel i'm improving again a ton, I'm keeping these videos on a playlist for when i get the mechanics of the drive system down to muscle memory. As a more casual player online too? I was getting 50ms across a sea with a friend in Netherlands and me in the UK. 1-2 frames of rollback. It's some godlike connections! This game if it has the same support V had for about 6-7 years? I'm positive if you set you're mind to it and throw out a lot about V such as Gief being low tiered? (he's insane now lol) then i think you'll still have it, I feel i'm already building up the muscle memory :) Honestly you don't even really need to know this tech for our levels of play yet anyway, there's a ton of players who're pretty new to SF and the ranked system so far seems on point. The strength of being tactical is really improved over V's get hit till V trigger to do what you want, With Ex (OD) moves on a full bar with the burnout mechanic? It's really gave it a fresh feel! I wish you GG's and good combos :)

Bruh I’m with you. I’m old school. Competed in the local tournaments in ny back in the late 90’s early 00’s for alpha and 3rd strike. SfV couldn’t hold my attention, hadn’t picked up the sticks since. Played this last night on casual to get my feet wet and went 5-2. Rusty as all hell. But! Learning these combos and frame trapping all these these things my nephews are teaching me now. It’s crazy bruh 😂

For anyone who might be frustrated: note that this is a STARTER guide, not a beginner's guide. It's meant to give you ideas so you see what's possible, but it's not a primer for how to play Ken at a very basic level. Starting from the Dragon Lash into level 1 SA combo at around 1:00, you're looking at some very tight timing that'll challenge intermediates. Pace yourself and stick to simpler stuff if you need to.

That’s why I was having trouble with some of these. The timing is really hard for me but I do like a good challenge. I’m mainly a tekken player and coming into SF6 is a whole new experience.

At 2:16 combo, you can actually use the quick dash fire verison of XX QCF HK then use LVL 2 to get an extra 100 damage :)

First, thanks for your work, theses combos are useful and well explained ! I have a question about damage output, specifically on drive impact one: a "raw" lvl 3 SA does 4000 DMG, and a successful DI does guarantee you landing it without trouble. Is there an advantage landing a combo like in 5:30 which does slitghly less damage but requires more execution than simply landing the Lvl 3 SA ?

Sometimes slightly lower damage is desired in case you want a better knockdown situation, as well as corner carry. In this situation, Ken's LVL 3 doesn't offer opportunities to continue pressuring afterwards, but the non-cinematic version with followup does. After looking at that specific combo however, if you substitute MP DP for LP DP you will actually end up doing more damage, getting the best of both worlds (LP DP does more damage before the cancel), sorry for having missed that!

SF noob here I couldn’t mimic the last light punch combo… instead i went straight to lvl 3 shoryuken (strong hit) after the dragon kick and it did more dmg… am I missing something or is my version better

​@@Sevatar_VIIIthdon't use the analog stick. It's way too inconsistent when it comes to doing special moves and such. Learn pad, it's really nice when you get used to it, I'm saying this as a former analog stick user. Ps4 controller is my go to.

So I’m trying to figure out how you cancel his Forward step kick into level 2. I thought level 2 were only cancelable from OD moves

The forward step kick isn't considered a special move. You can cancel into his level 1 as well.

Thanks for the video! 2:26 - I'm having major issues getting the timing down for the flaming dragonlash kick right after the heavy jinrai. Is it just a case of pressing two kicks to charge, then immediately doing the draglonlash in that tiny timing window right after the jinrai? Or is there anyway to make the timing easier? Any help would be appreciated! :

I'm not sure what you mean by "charge". What I can say is that I would start doing the dp motion while the jinrai kick is still going on, so that by the time the recovery ends (when you can act again) the motion is complete and you can perform the dragonlash kick immediately, otherwise the combo will drop

@@gamevidsnstuff5805 the combo you timestamped uses the OD version of dragonlash kick (dp kk), which doesn't require you to do a run at all! Just input the dp motion and then two kicks and you will be golden

Can someone explain to me why starting off the light combos with jab makes the entire combo do 100 less damage than if you were to go without the jab as a starter? Very confusing as you’re hitting them with more moves

Damage scaling has always been weird like that. Every hit ups the amount of damage scaling, which is understandable for balance I guess.

Apparently when doing rapid cancels in SF6, you can just press the next light attack before the first one has even finished and the next light attack will still come out. If you do that, you'll have a bigger window to perform the move.

Make sure you are performing a special cancel, which means you have to input the DP motion completely before the LK comes out. This way the shoryuken will come out in time and should connect properly even at far ranges

So yes it does seem impossible to perform an entire DP motion before your light kick comes out, what i believe you have to do (or at least i have to do this) is hold forward when you do the standing LK so then the second you press LK you finish the DP motion. So instead of inputting down +LK, down + LP., L.K., forward, down, down-forward, HP you would instead input down +LK, down + LP., forward+L.K., down, down-forward, HP. I hope that makes sense. You're basically starting the dp motion before you press LK but making sure to get out LK before you press the down part of the DP motion. I honestly don't think its possible to press LK in total neutral and then input a full DP motion + HP before it comes out.

Lights into supers are unfortunately quite difficult. There aren't any tricks in this case, just a very fast motion. Keep going at it!

@@dotHack0101 In Ken's case, a motion like qcb p executed at the right time will give you a standing light punch attack (since this has no command overlap with any special); this gives you the first part of the super motion and you can then do the other half (qcb k) which should be easier. However this trick doesn't work with Ken's LK because of the overlap with tatsu, so it's just a fast input.

In case anyone's still struggling with this, there actually is a trick to buffering it. After the cLP, let the stick go neutral for a few frames, then hit back+LK xx qcb LK. The tatsu won't come out, but the down-neutral-back motion will count as the first quarter circle of the super. This is because of an input leniency quirk in the game where it'll let you leave out one diagonal in a double quarter circle motion and still count it.

omg... i have been successful for years trying my best to avoid buying a PlayStation unit coz it tends to ruin my work-life balance, my last unit being a PS2 from which i struggled to free myself from its grips and hang on to my dear life. and now SF6 came out... i am a few youtube clips away from buying a PS5. oh God, please give me tremendous strength and ocean of fortitude to save my soul...😅

Ughh all the run combos are so difficult to pull off in real game. Ken has so much potential but looks like he will be tough to master. Might need to pick a secondary in case.

Anyone else having a hard time with the drive rush mechanic? I can’t seem to be consistent when trying to cancel a normal into a drive rush for combo extensions. Maybe my fingers are too slow 😢

You have to abuse the buffer windows you have this small time frame during the animation locks to load up inputs.

@@Spaz740 same here… it’s really tough for me on the stick. The game pad is definitely easier, but it’s frustrating because I’d prefer to use my arcade stick 🤦🏼. I spent a good amount of time doing the Ken trials today and finally got it down decently. The timing is super strict. Guess I just gotta keep at it until it’s burned into my muscle memory. Doing it in a trial is one thing, but in a live match… 😬 maybe I can get there someday lol

@@kevinbradley8613 I just now got through Ken's intermediate trials. Somehow managed the last one on my stick. The most frustrating thing about that combo is that sometimes you'll drive rush into MP DP. Then assuming you get that part the timing for CHP is so strict. Do it to early and you get chin buster. That's just the first part of the combo lol.

Here is another combo: MP-HP, QCF PP, QCF KK-F+HK, QCF KK-F+MK-F+MK LVL3 Difficult combo, but huge damage payout especially if you have crit art

Hey dude, I know it’s a been a couple of days, if you haven’t played SF before, links have a rhythmic quality, normal attacks don’t always link at the same time, you can turn on a recovery bar in training that helps, to special cancel an attack you must input the move before it hits so that it comes out when you do hit. It’s super fucky but you’ll get it. If it’s not that and it was the delay between the jinrai and dragonlash, then yeah me too

When you input Ken's run with KK, you can then press LK to stop it early. If you do this fast enough, you will have enough time to link your MP-HP target combo afterwards. Keep in mind this only works when the C.HP hits as a punish counter or enhanced by a drive rush!

I don't understand how to do like 90% of these LMAO I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong exactly. Mainly how to cancel, cause there's nothing that explains how to cancel. I can do basic bitch combos like SMP + SHP + HFC HP and the basic Jump + MK + LK + QCB + MK. Or the SMP + SHP + OD Dragonlash Kick + OD Shoryuken and that's it. But none of these combos in the video. Really wish I could get a coach 🤣 Cause I plan on swapping to Akuma, I knew how to do some of his basic bitch combos too. But I can't do practically any of these.

Test it out yourself, modern Ken might be missing a few normals or whatever but it should fine for the most part.

Many of these combos are unoptimal af. In the last combo specifically, you could substitute the L jinrai loop for a H jinrai then link into EX jinrai with mK followup and get way more damage.

Yes. Modern handicaps the player of more variety. There are pros and cons. Modern = easy inputs, less options, less damage (20% damage reduction), Classic = harder inputs, more options, normal damage.
