Street Tuning My Turbo D16Y8 Civic Part 1 (Establishing a Basemap) | TunerThings 

Bro this advice was my savior for my Integra, haven't worked on the Civic tune yet but same injectors so it'll definitely be the ticket.. Honestly I had the car running under the settings I was using before.. and it ran but it definitely took WAY more adjusting than it should have.. This had it firing right up INSTANTLY. You saved my build man. Thank you so much.

@@TunerThings no problem bro, I'm not anyway a pro tuner either, but ill always share any knowledge that I've picked up so far this year. I've messed around with the basemaps also and so far the p06 edm basemap fuel settings is where my 95 f23a turbo accord likes to start up and run somewhat smooth on. But that's great news it helped.

@@cambodianboost3945 Man that has to be fun -- boosted f23a. I miss my f series in the Odyssey that had just enough pep in it to make it not sluggish always wanted to turbo it -- sad it's gone. I'll definitely be shouting you out in this next video of the tune being finished up and driving it around. You rock!

Depending on the axis of the map it could also be a small corner of the map for idle

Hell yeah dude! I gotta say I love how many features it looks like HTS has I've just had more experience with Crome so I felt a bit of comfort setting my map up there. Definitely going to invest some more time into Honda Tuning Suite in the next couple days but my end goal is Hondata.. just soooo expensive lol

@@TunerThings yeah that's why I went with it. I just pushed through the pain of figuring it out with no help. Plus I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay for crome haha. You can covert your crome maps to HTS too I'm pretty sure

Yep the P28 and the Chipped ECU (with a chip) are what you'll need. The Moates Ostrich helps you tune in real time without reflashing the chip each time you want to make a change.

Yes timing was done in the prior video - agreed. They needed some extra juice to stay idling in both crome and HTS

@@TunerThings Yeah, in HTS you have to go to the menu item "sync timing" and it automatically calibrates everything for you.

@@awptickes Ah so if I dont do that it probably assumes I wanted 16.5 degrees then right?

@@TunerThings Honestly, idle timing advance depends on your engine. With my vitara build I run 18-deg at idle. Basically it's trial and error to see what works best for you. Best part is that doesn't require anything but you to back the car out of the garage, so you can do that in your yard. Go to Tools drop-down, then to Ignition Lock, and input 12.0 degrees to get going with that.

Absolutely, that's LITERALLY all you need. Keep the O2 gauge in the right place per RPM and you'll be good. simple math

Y8 runs at 12 deg, All others run at 16 I believe

OBD1 D series is at 16 degrees BTC and OBD2 Y series is 12. I'm running a boosted Y7 and use the P28 map and take out -4.5 degrees across the whole map,you can always add timing in later but so far out of about 75 maps this one runs the best.
