I really appreciate the simplicity & easy sharpening of my fixed blade with outdated steel while sipping my morning Bubba mug of black coffee. (Camillus Bushcrafter with 1095 blade, canvas micarta scales, and made in Murica). My very mature opinion.🇨🇦
For others who found their way here for the traditional knives; this is what I think of the channel after viewing ~20 videos. This is for all the Case fans and the older crowd. I am twice the age of Erica; I like her take on traditional knives. My first comment went something like: A little too much shade on Case, but good info and a good demonstration of fine tuning a new Case knife. Erica thanked me and liked my comment. That was a first view of the channel and a first comment. I would call her reply classy. Since that first view, I have watched many other videos, and I think Erica is very even and fair with her experience and opinions. It wasn't shade on Case, I was wrong. Erica is a pragmatist, in my opinion. That is high praise from me. I enjoy hearing younger opinions; I like the kindness here, and I know I'm not being sold anything. Erica, if I could dispel you of one thing, it would be that some us old school guys/girls have been doing the hand razor-sharp sharpening, multi stage process since we were kids. You couldn't do this today, but my 7th grade shop teacher told everyone to bring in all your pocket knives and hunting knives because he was going to teach us how to properly sharpen a knife. I had a head start, my father had taught me how to use a whetstone long before that time. I still use the techniques taught to me by my father and that shop teacher. I have a small collection of traditional pocket knives, hunting knives, multi tools, and modern fidgety knives. I use them all, no wall hangers, and that includes my father's Korean War Era knife and my grandfather's WWII Era knife. Erica, keep being you and be well.
Life is good . Nice strider. Broke a tip on one last week being stupid but that’s living. Kyle noteworthy seems like the type of dude that would do a good heat treat . I still like the outdated steels done right , no issues .
Yes, the rebar is also my favorite leatherman. It's quite similar to my first supertool I owned since 1995. I bought the knifeless rebar, I'm wearing a knife anyway. This keeps the rebar even lighter and more compact. And you get scissors instead!
Dude that Strider is sick! What an effing BEAST!!!! I have a pretty saucy miniskirt with that same tiger stripe pattern that I only break out occasionally to wear when I go grocery shopping. It's just that special...
In my opinion, it depends on the manufacturer if he knows his craft, knives and pocketknifes made of metals that are no longer fashionable will also be good tools - "A big heart needs gallons of coffee" - thanks for the video beloved Erica 💜🐬💜
Awesome video and carry, Erica! Got my freshly sharpened Rat II on me with my LM rebar. Love to listen to your videos while sharpening. Keep on keeping on
Great video as always! I just emptied my pockets as the following.. Cold steel AD10, Leatherman Surge, streamlight micro stream usb, bic lighter and Big idea design pocket pro pen!
Love the look of leather that has been used and burnished in your pocket. A bit of a segue, I think that you would be a great story teller. Some of the most watched channels are about stories: history, mystery, how to do simple tasks that need some skill development which gives the viewer a little personal satisfaction. Everyone loves a good story.
I like that you keep your reviews honest and you point out both the positive and negative aspects, alike.☺ Please keep up the great work and take care. Cheers!
Hi your edc is out of this world..awesomeness ✨️ I currently still run a Esee Izula in 440C,Microtech Ultratech Tanto,Victorinox Pioneer or Farmer X and a Higonokami X large with brass handle, and leather sleeve. Im not sure if Higonokami knives are your flavor😅..but the history and simple construction and how Higonokami knives attain a rich patina is just awesome.. Simple minimal and aogami laminated steel is beautiful in its own way... Yes i use my knives...ALL OF THEM.. enjoy!
I drink my dark roast coffee straight up no cream, flavors or sugar, espresso when I can get it quad shot in a 16oz cup. Had to take the sharp edge off the finger guard on my CUR Custom Blades "Swift" in 80CRV2 and Firehose Micarta. So I get the sharp edge annoyance. Good video. Thanks.
Just picked up a shiv works and a Bradford guardian 3 should be here in the next couple of days both of them Great channel you got going I see it to continue to grow. Agree you can say certain things about a knife that you don't like without sounding like you're bashing the company or being super negative credit to you for not taking the low road. It's too easy to be negative nowadays. My carry today is a old rovyvon Angel eyes, a piranha automatic and a civili elementum and a leatherman squirt PS4 the version with the pliers
Have heard only great things about Strider kinda in the CRK world. I'm the same like you about coffee , currently using Black Rifle "Freedom Fuel" . Terrific content as always ! 👏
It would kill me to loose a expensive knife, I carry a case mini trapper, or a sod bust. Jr, or a sak hiker or tinker. I just don t want to loose more than one of those. Love your channel from halifax
The main problem with O1 is that most companies run it to soft because they are afraid that you are going to break the knife. O1 needs to be at 61-62 and that is where the extra edge holding comes from. If O1 is run at the typical 57-58 or so, the knife may as well be 1095.
I agree the heat treat on the 01 is soo good...Ive had mine for couple months n still going strong. Funny cuz i also carry Rebar. Those lil pry bars are wicked i seen one up here in Canadian on 2nd but guy wanted double lol . I had a WE Esprit today havent carried it in a while.
I think some people tend to favour knives that ae much bigger than they need to be. Unless you are bush crafting or cutting stuff like blocks of foam insulation, for the most part a 3" blade is plenty. To be fair a 3.5" blade can do everything a 3" blade can do and not vice versa but 2.5"-3" blades are so much more pocketable and 99% of the time, in my experience, that's much more useful than an extra half inch...of blade.
Strider SnG the best. I can say the scale the GG hybrid is not the best. Lego or CC are the best for EDC. And you must try a strider in a tool steal. 3V ,PD1 Z-WEAR AND M4. and there own version of D2 called PSF27
